Lake Area Bank Minnesota Ave N, Stillwater

I bank online and don't have a brick and mortar to really visit. My daughter likes collecting old bills ($2 and $5), we go to the drive through and I let the teller know that my daughter wanted to ask but she doesn't really need to look very hard. I am greeted with a "are you a customer", which is a super valid question. I told her no but my daughter likes asking . . . was cut short with, I can't look if you are not a customer . . Went to Huntington Bank across the street. The teller pretended my daughter was a customer and swapped some 1s for a 2 dollar bill. Asked if we wanted to set up a little bank account for her. I have an appointment next week to get an account set up for us both. Probably not a bad bank, just not very human centric.

My husband and I wanted to be at a more local bank and opened an account with Lake area. The bankers are very kind and the customer service is good. But they really lack and their ability to keep off with larger banks benefits. It was frustrating to the point that we actually left Lake area bank to go back to a larger bank. Pros -Friendly service -Local bank Cons - ATM fees at all atms other than branch locations (only 3) -Cannot deposit cash or checks at ATM. -Limited ability to use electronic transfers online with their cards or accounts. It just seems that this bank doesn't want to upgrade to a the newer technology. It's very frustrating to not be able to make simple deposits through online electronic transfers (Venmo/Paypal) or ATM's
