I have been a customer ever since I moved to Iowa years ago and have always been at the same branch. Everyone I ever come in contact with is extremely professional and very friendly. They have earned my trust for many reasons and I doubt I will ever want to change banks.

    Response from the owner

Cathy, thank you for taking the time to write these kind words and the 5-star review! We appreciate it!

Hills bank does a fantastic job at making their clients feel safe and welcome. I opened an account with Travis Aust and he was friendly, informative, and professional. There's no hidden fees at hills bank and that puts my mind at ease.

    Response from the owner

Seth, thanks for the great review!

They always seem to have plenty of tellers and people available to answer questions. They even have very good free checking. You still have to buy the checks, but the program itself is free.

    Response from the owner

Thanks for the 4-star review! If you have any suggestions on how we could improve our customer service, please let us know.

My husband & I stopped in the bank with our three children, as we needed to sign some paperwork. (Muscatine ave location.) The bank loan officer was having issues printing out the loan documents we needed to sign. Which was fine, I know things like this happen. Something that should have took 5 minutes, took over an hour... However one of our children whom is autistic, was getting a little restless, so to keep him happy, my husband & I took turns walking him around the bank. Which I thought would be okay, as I always thought hills bank was kid friendly as they continually sponsor & support kiddos in the community, which our family very much appreciates. However their receptionist at this location must not appreciate kids...on one of the walks around the bank with my child, he literally just touched (sideswiped) a plant sitting in the lobby with his hand & the receptionist saw him & yelled “don’t touch our plants!” First of all: If hills bank doesn’t want people touching a $10 plant sitting on their lobby floor, they shouldn’t have it sitting in the lobby for their customers to “potentially” touch. Secondly, my son is 5yrs old, sorry, 5 year olds are going to be curious & want to touch things to explore their environment. I said to the receptionist “ my son is autistic, & apologized.” I then walked him back to the office of our loan officer, & shut the door, & didn’t leave the office again, since we apparently weren’t welcome out in the lobby. Bottom line: my husband & I love hills bank, & will continue to do so....however no matter how much great service we’ve received in the past, this incident will always stick out in my mind...of how your receptionist, the person whom is the first point of contact to your customers, to welcome them inside, thank them for their business, instead chose to yell at my son for touching your precious valuable plants... Not a great representation of hills bank. I would be embarrassed if one of my employees treated one of my clients in such a manner...

Horrible treatment after being 15 yrs a customer. All because my debit card was stolen, they turned & blamed me. Now they won't allow me a debit card when everything I buy is online. And wouldn't even cash my bday check from my dad on my bday!! Awful.. Will be finding a new bank.. Stay away from this bank if possible. Go to the Credit Union or Midwest One. Hills just don't care that it's your money they are limiting access to. They purposely treated me badly to cause me more issues. Now I'll be filing a complaint to the federal consumer complaint department.

    Response from the owner

Thanks for the kind words, Kami!

I’d give Hills Bank a 2/10 on Customer Service. The employees usually look and sound annoyed whenever I have to go here.

    Response from the owner

Mitch, we want to reach out and apologize for the service you received at Hills Bank. This is not the type of service we want our customers to receive. We would be happy to have someone reach out to you regarding your concerns. For your privacy and security, please direct message us a preferred phone number or email so someone from our staff can contact you.

9 years ago they took a chance on a kid with a lack of credit and gave me a home loan. Today I have 2 checking, 3 saving accounts, and this month I’m closing on my 3rd property purchase in with my same hills bank lender from the beginning Jack O’Rourke.

    Response from the owner

Thanks for the 5-star review, Jason! If you have any suggestions on how we could improve our customer service, please let us know.
