Great place to do banking. I love it. Service is great but anytime you need to do something in person the be prepared to wait awhile to speak to a teller

    Response from the owner

Took four months to open a HELOC and checking accounts. First time I need to call its taken 25 minutes(so far) to get someone on the phone. 25 years with USAA (who I also still have) never took more than 15 seconds to talk to a real person. I’m typing this while I’m on hold…

    Response from the owner

Hi PM, thank you for leaving us your feedback in regards to your experience. We greatly value your membership, and would like to know if you were able to connect with the Member Resource Center to have your questions answered? If not, then we would appreciate if you would email us at [email protected] with your direct contact information so we may escalate it to them for immediate follow up. Thank you!

I tried transferring my business account from out of state to GNCU. I made sure to call ahead to three separate branches (Vegas, Reno, Elko) to find out what documents were needed to transfer accounts. The Reno Representative gave me partial/incomplete information. The Vegas representative ignored my voicemails and never responded, and the Elko representative insisted on using completely different requirements that weren’t mentioned anywhere else, even their website. After a week of not getting anywhere, I ended up driving about 400 miles and spending 2 days trying to make the change in person, only to be turned away for not having the right paperwork. I was, however told to, “come back and try again.” At any point along the process, a single phone call and 5 minute discussion about clarifying exactly what is needed to transfer accounts would have either prevented this issue or solved it entirely, but even this small effort was beyond every single employee at GNCU. After this incident I realized that these people would only jeopardize my ability to maintain my business, as their carelessness toward their own documentation combined with zero accountability would inevitably result in a clerical error that would cost me time and money. This flippant attitude toward losing customers might be acceptable with their executives, but it wouldn’t fly with me. With all of the online options in banking, there is zero reason to open yourself to this level of incompetence and aggravation, just use any other company and save yourself the trouble. They were so incapable…they couldn’t take the money of someone who drove 400 miles to open an account. They instead chose to lose my business.

I've been going to this branch for more then a couple of years and have to say the customer service was always good. Until I attempted to pay my loan payment. The hours online say that the drive through teller is open until 6pm. Once I arrived at about 430pm it was closed. I then attempted to call the branch. And the branch was going to accept my payment but I had to pay a convenience fee. I explained to the customer representative I didn't understand why charge me a fee when your online times say that the drive through is open until 6pm. The rep explained its due to covid19. Well covid19 been here for about three months since the lock down in Nevada. Why couldn't this branch have fixed it times of availability.

The review is solely based on my experience inside this specific bank location.. Workers were RUDE and very unhelpful. Needed to open a new joint account as mine and my husbands old one had some fraudulent activity. Hubby works Monday-Saturday and goes in before they open and wouldn’t be able to make it to the bank before closing. So tried to work something out with timing, maybe convince someone to stay an extra hour, to which I got a very rude “that’s not my problem” attitude. GNCU you need to work on customer service if you want to keep people around. If you can’t work with us and help us out as your clients, what’s stopping us from no longer utilizing you guys and changing banks?. F+ to you.

    Response from the owner

Hello Shawna, We’re sorry to hear about your experience as our goal is to provide the best service to all of our members. We have shared your experience with our South Reno branch. We do have some options to help you open a new joint account, including helping you through the process online, or working with you in person and you can bring the forms to sign back home to your husband. If you are interested in this, please email us at [email protected] and we will connect you with the right GNCU staff. Unfortunately, we cannot keep branches open outside of our regular business hours due to security concerns for members and our staff. We sincerely thank you for your feedback and understanding.

This place is a s h i t s h o w. The people are rude, ignorant, lazy, rip offs, and liars! The general manager won’t even respond to me. I was treated like garbage and I know I didn’t deserve it. They don’t know how to do their job at any level and if I wasn’t so far with the processes I would have gone somewhere else. This place is trash.

    Response from the owner

Hello J C, we’re sorry to hear about your bad experience at this branch. We strive to provide the best service possible, but it seems like we fell short of your expectations. Someone stole a large sum out of my elderly parents account, and this bank refuses to do anything to help them. This is god awful. I would stay the hell away from this place

    Response from the owner

T Dubz, we take fraud reports very seriously and we constantly monitor for unusual and suspicious activity on behalf of our members. We’ll need more information from you so we can further look into this. Would you please email us at [email protected] with your parents’ name, your contact information and any information about the fraud activity that you have.

I was denied a business account here for what appear to be illegitimate reasons. In addition, the bank took money from my debit card to fund my prospective accounts but won’t return it to me for 7-10 days! I have already filed complaints with the BBB, among other places. My point here is to warn others but also to find out if others have had similar experiences. If you are a person of color or a freelance artist/writer who has been turned down for banking even though you have a valid and active business license in the state of Nevada please contact me at n y c r a w g i r l @ g m a i l . c o m. Thanks!

    Response from the owner

We’re sorry to hear about this experience. Let us be explicit about this point, we do not condone or participate in discrimination in any form. Membership is open to all who qualify. Our commercial services team has reached out to you via email to try and clear up any concerns you might have. Out of respect for your private information, we will spare public details. However, for any new business account, we follow protocols to protect against fraud and realize this can be challenging for some small business types such as YouTubers, artists, and musicians. We constantly look to improve our process to ensure that no one is impacted because of our desire to protect against fraud. In your case, we are eager to make it right. Please follow up with us so we can try to earn back your business or at least share pertinent information to set the record straight about why decisions were made. Thank you.

Rates and payment plan I have for our auto loan is great. Customer service - could greatly improve. Before I make a trip to the very limited locations there are I'd like to make sure certain services that are offered are operating. In this case, the coin counter that always seems to be out of order at the Sierra Pkwy location. I'd be more than happy to call the branch directly to verify but the only contact I'm able to access is to their customer service in general who 1) either transfers me back into the queue 2) offers me the business hours for the branch or 3) no one from the branch is picking up. I think if communication and/or access to speak to someone who is physically at the branch becomes available I'd be more than happy to change to 5 stars.

    Response from the owner

Hi April, we appreciate you taking the time to review us and to let us know your opinion on our phone system. Right now the way we are set up is to have our branch staff focusing on the members who are at their locations which is why we have an entire Member Resource Center (MRC) dedicated to calls. The MRC can transfer you to the branch but depending on how heavy the traffic is at the branch, they might not be able to pick up right away. We greatly value your membership which is why I will be sharing your review with our senior management team to see if they would like to take in to consideration any changes to our phone system. Thank you again for your thoughts on the matter.
