I received a car loan with no problem, easy transaction. Never EVER late with monthly note in fact insigned up for automated payments. Fast forward 3 years later I applied for a personal loan it wasn't a good experience. Not sure of her name but she was very rude I called over the phone. She was very short not welcoming even though they promoted a family like environment. I had to put collateral down if I wanted the loan which I declined I'm never going to Extra Credit for anything.

Long story short, I've had ECU for my entire banking life ( I would say around 14 years ) and I've never had any issues what so ever with ECU. They have always been pleasant to work with, they give me great deals and always bring up better ones and mention that this is because I have a long history with them. They have been fantastic when I lived out of state for 4 years, being up to date on card renewal and sending the new card to me without me calling, in an entire different state. I have gotten the best loan rates thru ECU compaired to other places and will continue to do so. Great experience, great people, 11/10.

I've been with this bank for nearly a decade and feel it is a huge scam. They do not have adequate overdraft protection and associates are "not allowed" to fix this mistake. They have told me to send a letter to the committe. And after multiple attemps ive never gotten even a response . Most pending charges don't show on my account before charging me several $32 fees over and over again. I can not move my loans due to lack of credit otherwise I would've left years ago. Their only other branch was located closer to my house, and it closed down , which makes the drive very inconvenient now.

As our staff member advised, we do have specific protocols in place for reversing fees, which includes writing a request to our Member Advocacy Committee, a group which meets weekly to review and respond to any requests. You are also able to review any pending transactions in our eBanking platform. If you don’t have eBanking, you can set up your eBanking account through the gold eBanking login box on the homepage of our website. Simply click on “Enroll here” to get started. Please note, however, that ACH transactions won’t always appear as a pending charge. We would be happy to review your account with you and help you find other ways to avoid any overdraft fees, as well as further explain how fees are assessed. Have been a member since 2002 when i opened my first Save-A-Saurus account when i was in elementary school. It sat dormant for years and I would use it for car loans, HELOC, Credit Cards, etc. I tried using it as my primary bank but lack of locations, outdated and poorly maintained software just made it hard to use. Just found out that they started charging a "Account maintenance fee" and my account was closed with a negative balance. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person that has another primary bank and likes to use the credit union for loans. Seems pretty counterintuitive to close accounts of people that may not want to use them as a primary bank but actually want to use products that ECU make money on.... I switched to Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union for my Car Loans and Mortgages.

While we do understand that not everyone has their full relationship at Extra Credit Union, it costs us money to maintain accounts whether they are used or not. The account maintenance fee has been in place for quite some time and members are notified about the fee at account opening or through disclosure and fee updates via various forms of communication. I would give this bank no stars if I could. Their in-person tellers are nice, but hope you don’t have an issue after hours! There is no way to unlock your online account after hours. They freeze your debit card on a whim. Their website is archaic. It takes 10 minutes just to log into your own account. My husband opened the account years ago, then added me after we were married. For the first 5 years, for me to do anything, I had to get my husband’s permission. My paychecks and deposits went into that account too. I needed his permission to withdrawal or make changes to our account? What is this… 1950? I’m pulling our money out and moving to a REAL financial institution.

HORRIBLE!!! Asked for a manager because Stephanie "call service senior rep" was super rude. Stepanie apologized after she realized she was extremely rude but would not let me speak to a manager saying they were busy. I'm going to withdraw everything and put my $$$ where they care about customers.

If your looking to get a loan this is the place to go to. Ask for Michael please! Amazing and really helpful and tries his absolute best to get you whatever loan you need, with that being said you won't get approved the next day the process does take a little longer but that's not his fault obviously he has to get everything approved by his managers. Overall I'm happy I had a great experience 10/10 would recommend!

I love Extra Credit Union but today I had the worst experience. My daughter noticed multiple fraud transactions on her account. We tried contacting Extra Credit Union but they don't have an after hour contact. It's frustrating that there is no one you can speak to when you are having issues after hours. We as customers should not have to stress all weekend long because there is no way to speak to a customer service representative. On top of this, their website does not provide any information on how to proceed or what to do when these kinds of situations happen after hour.

I have been a member at this Credit Union since 2018 and I've only encountered a few problems in that time. Unfortunately, today I've had the most unbelievable experience with this Credit Union. I called on January 7th, informing them(Chevon) that because of this pandemic and not working that I'm unable to make my loan payments on time. I asked if there was any type of pandemic relief offered to members who are in my predicament. I was told that because I have a "line of credit"(credit card) it is nothing they can offer. I was then told, that I could try for a hardship. I filled out the form and sent it over the same day. I didn't hear anything back so I called yesterday. I was told that there weren't any notes posted on my account about a hardship, they then connected me to Chevon's voice-mail. I left a message, no return call. Called this morning, left another message. Chevon returned my call at 2:30pm and stated "As I figured, Management did not approve your hardship." Who starts the conversation off like that? The whole conversation with this person was very belittling. I don't understand how a credit union does not have any type relief programs for there members who have a line of credit. I asked Chevon would they report my missed payment to the credit bureau, her response "We have to report all late payments, if we don't we could lose our license." I never asked her not to report my missed payments so what was the point of telling me this? I asked for help and clearly she was so busy being fescious that she missed me sincerely asking for my Credit Union for some type of help. I have never felt so insulted while talking to someone at this credit union. I am very sadden and disappointed with this outcome. Also, I have two other credit cards and was offered a relief plan..soo why can't my credit union offer anything? Especially when they have "millions to lend"

I've been a member through two names changes, all the way back when it was called Warren Schools Credit Union. They used to be a great savings institution. I can honestly say the only thing "Extra" about this credit union now are the extra charges.

Tell Lisa to update her records and stop calling me! I can't believe a "professional" would be this poor at keeping records updated, especially at a CREDIT UNION with money involved. Had a voicemail from her, super cheery and friendly tone, saying I was approved for a loan. She even left her extension number. I called back within 5 minutes confused because I never applied, and her tone was the complete opposite, super annoyed I was calling her. She kept denying calling me, saying I must've called her first. Then she looks up my info and says "you're not even a member here so idk what you're talking about." 3 days later she's calling me AGAIN about a loan and I said "we've already had this discussion, you have the wrong number". She then calls a few days later AGAIN, left a voicemail saying she got a text message and that this person needs to call her back so they can talk more about what needs to be done for this loan. ENOUGH ALREADY

If you work a 9-5, good luck getting any sort of assistance with accessing your account. Their hold times are ridiculous if you decide to use your lunch break to call for help. They have monthly maintenance fees on top of fees for NOT using their bill pay service each month. This place had multiple locations and has now shriveled down to one. Makes me wonder if they're actually going out of business.

Horrible service. Usually have to wait 20 minutes or more to talk to a real person, their online banking is awkward and if you have a problem they don't have a number to call after hours. Moving our money to a credit union that has better service even though it's going to be a total pain. I just can't deal with them anymore.
