We are new to Colorado and recently switched our policies to Szymankowski Insurance Agency! Erica and her staff are amazing, very helpful with the transition. I would highly recommend this office for all your insurance needs! Thank you for being there to help us with our insurance and making it a smooth transition!!!

If you are looking for dishonesty, lack of accountability, poor customer service and someone that talks to you as if you have zero intelligence then this is the place for you. My recent experience was an utter joke there is a long list of woes but at one point the agent told me I wasn’t getting my insurance card because I was throwing them away as if she was in my home watching me go through my Mail. Every issue was pushed into corporate or something else. Never her fault. Prior to this last interaction with the agency they do not answer the phone or call back, even if you go in it takes multiple visits to get what you needed. I’m sure she will respond to this review as she does every other one, it is not her fault, personal accountability is a true builder of character and this woman has none.

    Response from the owner

Susannah, As I previously responded under your partner’s review, I am sorry that I cannot break industry rules and regulations to accommodate your situation. We all make mistakes and we are honored to have the ability with State Farm to fix them when we do, but we cannot violate the law. If our office makes a mistake we will fix it.

This Agency should not receive any positive reviews. Absolutely cannot be trusted or truthful. Beware, do not pay in advance for anything with this agency. They will hold your money and you will play heck trying to get it back for at least months, they still have mine. They will squirm their way into having you add a vehicle for bundling "cheaper rates". Then they will cancel homeowner coverage and try to keep your vehicle policy. This office gives State Farm a very bad name.

    Response from the owner

Pam, I am sorry that your home does not meet the State Farm Underwriting Guidelines, thus preventing underwriters from issuing your homeowner's policy. That is not a decision made by any agent or agency, but rather consistent eligibility guidelines set by the insurance underwriter. Agencies are in the business of writing insurance policies, and we work hard to do so since that is how we earn business. Not every home is eligible for State Farm, but our agency will always try to help customers by submitting an application to the company for consideration. As with most insurance carriers and agents, we work hard to look for discounts for our customers, and the multi-line discount is a great opportunity to save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars over the years. Consistent with the Colorado Laws and Industry standards, when an agent issues a binder of insurance, coverage goes into effect for a specified number of days allowing the underwriters time to have the property inspected, application reviewed and make a decision to either issue the policy or decline the application. In the event of a declination, coverage remains in force for a specified number of days, allowing for notification to the customer and time for the customer to secure other coverage. While this temporary coverage is in force, premiums are owed to the insurance company. (No customer premiums are ever "held" by the agency). Lenders are also protected during this time since they require continuous coverage on their collateral. If a customer chooses to cancel the coverage prior to the temporary binder of insurance expiration date, then the premium refund is prorated by the day to the date of termination. The coverage that is in effect from the effective date of the binder of insurance to the termination date, is required to be paid, since the coverage was in effect. If a covered loss occurs during the temporary binder of insurance period, then the claim is valid and payable, therefor the premium is payable to the insurer. In a specific situation were a back date or change of the termination date is requested, special handling may be required for corporate approval, resulting in slightly longer processing times, but all refunds should be issued by the company (not the agency) within the state regulatory requirement timelime after receipt of all required documentation. This is timeline and refund processing is not controlled by the agency. While Google reviews are a great way for the community to share their opinions and experiences with business, and we welcome honest and accurate feedback, but slander, libel, and false statements should not be tolerated as they intentionally inappropriately damage businesses and people working hard to support our community and families, and following the State Farm rules and insurance regulations.

I have been with this same agency for years and years , Their gentle guidance, State Farm Adjusters and Customer service , has gotten me through the challenges of Forest fire, floods, and roofing scammers. I spoke with them today in regard to some coverage questions that I had and they were incredibly kind and informative . I am so thankful to be under their competent and caring hands .

    Response from the owner

Thank you Kayle! Wishing you a Happy New Years! We are so happy to have your support and it has been a pleasure serving you over that years!

Great to have a hometown insurance agent that answers the phone themselves and solves the question or issue. In Dawn’s case, she handled it right then. It was not their problem but they helped me with a windshield provider and will now get a replacement within the week!! Great company!!!!

    Response from the owner

Thank you, Garry! We are so glad Dawn could help get your windshield replaced quickly! Thank you for your support of our local business!

Horrible agent who will not take responsibility for lack of follow through. Moved to another agent due to her attitude and never following thru with what we had requested as a paying customer.

    Response from the owner

Allison, I am sorry that your claim situation was not as expected. Legally, bound by the contract of the policy, claims cannot be paid for coverages that a customer did not purchase. No agent can retroactively go back and add coverage that a client has not been paying for after a claim occurs (unless there is proof of a mistake made by the agency). Coverage considered during a claim must be in effect (and paid) prior to a loss occurring. After my hours of researching your situation and talking with you on the phone, and trying to look for any option to help you, it is unfair to claim a lack of follow through. There are legal regulations in place that I (or any agent) just can’t break no matter how much we sympathize with your position. As a courtesy reminder to all persons, everywhere, please always review the Declarations page of all of your policies, every time the insurance company sends them (every renewal). If you don’t see a coverage on that page, then you probably are not paying for it, and therefore don’t have it. If you intend to purchase additional coverage, be sure to get a receipt and documentation of what you purchase. I am sorry to hear that you have requested to have your policies administered by another State Farm Agent. I have appreciated your business over the many years, and genuinely wish you the absolute best in the future. If there is anything I can do you to help you down the road, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Our prior insurance company wouldn't renew our homeowners policy after a bad fire season. Erica and Patrick Szymankowski gladly took over our home and all of our auto and RV policies. We were victims of theft this year and lost several thousand dollars worth of property. Erica and her staff did everything possible to make our claims painless and quick. They are friendly and honest and they respond to calls and emails quickly. We recommend them to anyone looking for insurance.

    Response from the owner

Thank you, Steve! It's an honor to help you and your family, and I am glad we got your claim "all worked out"!
