Emerald Credit Union Granger Rd, Garfield Heights

I have had the WORST experience there over the last few years. It used to be so well run and Customer Service was a thing. Not anymore! They no longer manage their own credit cards so can be of no asdistance! Run fast, run far.... take your money somewhere else!

I went in with my son to open a joint and single SAVINGS account no debit cards requested and they pulled a HARD inquiry on my credit not a soft inquiry just to verify information but a HARD inquiry as if I was applying for credit, I've banked at numerous banking institutions and credit unions and never had my credit checked in the process of open a savings account and further more I've NEVER had my credit checked without my knowledge or permission....not good...not fair...I called and talked to the lady who opened our accounts and she said I thought we talked about that I told her we didn't and also I told her if she would have informed me of the credit check that I would not have opened the account because I didn't want them to pull my credit.

It is so easy to be swayed by all the offers of banking choices/card perks that come our way. When Emerald closed their Independence office, I thought "That's it....I'm switching." I loved the staff at this location and the convenience. While Garfield is an inconvenience (I live in Akron) I wouldn't switch! The staff here is friendly and most accommodating. When it was time for my son's first car loan at 18, he did not have credit which they completely understood. The gal who worked with us CELEBRATED the fact the this was his first credit transaction! We secured the loan but he made the payments despite living out of state. 3 years later he has paid the used car off, sold it and just a few weeks ago did all the work with Emily at Emerald to secure a "big boy" loan (Mom's words, definitely not his!) and we all were thrilled that he got the lowest rate around for his next-to-new truck! Emerald is family friendly and such a part of the community...which in this case, extends all the way to Akron! Thanks to all who make this an exceptional place to bank.

I have had my account here since i was 3 years old Im always taken care of and would recommend this credit union to anyone. after reading these other reviews I believe that it is more customer being wrong than this place not doing their jobs. i have never had a single problem with emerald and know tons of people that feel the same way!

I have been a member since 2008 and I love this Credit Union. I get my pay check early and I have never had a fee to pay that I known of. I wish I could have gotten an unsecured credit card from them. Other than that everyone should bank at a Emerald Group Credit Union!

I have been a member since I had a job when I was 14. they have always gone out of there way to take great care of me . I just refinanced my home with them . karen worked her butt off to get me takin care of .

There's something to be said for a local small business (compared to the big banks). Friendly faces and efficient service are usually what I get when I walk in. Emerald was the ONLY place my 18 yr. old son could get a loan for a car; other places refused him because he had no credit (how do you get credit when you just turned 18?). Not only did he get the car but he also established a credit history which (4 yrs. later) is important for a young adult to rent an apt, buy another car, make large purchases. Can't recommend Emerald Credit Union highly enough!

I love this Credit Union. Never had any problems. I refer them to any and everyone I know. They help us out as customers in such a great and helpful way. Staff always pleasant and helpful. Hope i get this hardship loan. They really offer alot when you bank with them. They have been great this whole 3-4 years I've banked with them. And hope they stay around a while.

My husband was pre-approved for a small car loan and three days later after we found the car we wanted Emerald Credit Union Underwriters denied the pre-approval the details was not clear, however, if a lending institution pre-approve and then take it back that does not look good on that lending institution.

I use to recommend this credit union to everyone now I pray they don’t or didn’t go here. I used to love the way they knew your name when you walked in the door but that’s just not enough. I’ve been with them for a long time had A LOT of money come through there and even boosted my credit while a customer and yet still can’t get approved for any type of loan. I can get a loan elsewhere but just not here. So I guess that’s where all my money should be. Also I had a dispute with a purchase it’s been 3 weeks not information no call and no money. Fraud on my debit card they tell me I have to eat it because it’s under 50$ but they are aware that it was fraud. That’s my hard earned money we are talking about. They don’t care. It’s ridiculous. I’ve never been this unhappy with a bank I’m going to the bbb as well.
