Eastman Credit Union Jones St, Gate City

Very pleased with all my dealing with ECU. Mostly deal with Gate City Va office but everyone I have dealt with has been friendly and helpful. We have gotten several loans with them and it has always been easy and trouble-free. Highly recommend ECU....

I wanted a secured loan for 10,000 using investment capital as collateral I called the bank to make sure this was possible and also to make sure I could have cash in hand by the next Wednesday . I was assured this would be no problem - I was asked my location and told the nearest branch was Gate City - I was an hour away - arrived at the bank about 330 - I was bluntly told without suggestion of any alternative measure that “ we don’t do that here “ ... Ok .. I told her we had already talked to the bank and was told to come to that location - the loan representative - which I didn’t get her name she was a -medium build female with shoulder length brown hair - I wish I had gotten her name because I have never been treated so cold and rude in any bank I have ever been in as I was treated today - she handed me a paper with a phone number - nothing else written on it and mumbled go call Wilcox .. Make an appointment.. it is now a about 4 and the bank closes at 5 - so I call the number and it goes to voice mail with an assistant number for emergency ... voice mail - I go to the teller of the bank and ask her for some explanation as to what this phone number is - was there a branch on Wilcox ? Was this the number ? She had no clue either so she called Wilcox and asked if someone could come and get a loan. - they said yes - So we get to the Wilcox office and another loan agent comes and gets us - I give her the investment papers and tell her I want a secured loan .. she says I’m new - idk if we can do that here so she leaves for 12 minutes and comes back and says we can do this here - You will have to contact the investment firm I explained that I had done this prior to coming there and was told they don’t do loans but you could get it through a bank and use it as collateral no problem .. the loan rep said i don’t do those loans - the investment dept does it - I said where is that .. she said upstairs ....😱 So I ask why have you not sent us upstairs instead Of just telling us you couldn’t help us ????? So she called upstairs and i heard her say .. so he’s the only one ... then she hung up and gave me my papers and said you are just going to have to go through the investment firm ... (the investment firm has eastman credit unions logo on the top left of their letterhead)but apparently they can’t do anything for me - so now it’s 5 o’clock -the bank is closed and isn’t open tomorrow - I needed the money by Wednesday I was told by the first bank I called in gate city it may take 24-48 business hours to get the money - now it looks like that might not happen now thanks to sheer incompetence and laziness - who wants to start a loan @430 on Friday ? Aside from the fact I was at the first bank around 3 - plenty of time had i been given the correct information - So along with staying away from at least these local branches if you are in a hurry for help - (they are apparently on mountain time - )and not much is going to happen on a Friday afternoon - Wow - I have been treated like a vip at banks taking out loans - they were all always so nice - Not here - The two women I dealt with at those two branches - they could have cared less if you take your business elsewhere or not .. So I’d advise that you do - I am.

Great bank never had any issues with the workers and their very professional!

I have been trying to call all morning and no one will pick up but when my friend calls they pick up. They need to learn to answer the phone.

I've had Eastman 2 years or more I got married last year. Me and my wife decided to go on a joint account with the existing checking (again this is my account and I should be able to add her no matter what because it's my account) to be honest they have no remorse or nothing my wife had a rough time in 2002 and they hold something against her and it bothers me she has to be rejected on matters she couldn't help so I will never use Eastman credit union again I shut my account down... But I can tell you this it doesn't matter what you done if you have enough money for them they will welcome you but I didn't have enough or they would have put my wife on my account as I wanted
