    Dollar Bank Reviews

Horrible bank. I made a large deposit and it’s is totally clear after 4 business days. But I have had to call everyday to use the money via my bank card and they have horrible customer service. I waited to speak to someone for almost 2 hours just to be told they cannot help me. I regret using this bank and will pick another local bank. Not to mention my card never works at stores and it’s really embarrassing. They need a negative starts option. I read all the previous reviews and they bank comments back “we want to help call our customer service” this will accomplish exactly what? Due to this I missed a major sale for my vacation add on’s and had to pay almost double. I will be closing my person and business account. I would rather pay fees and have service then it be free and cause me a headache.

I needed a bank account and Dollar Bank seemed like a good choice. Lots of local branches, great interest rates, and a low opening deposit fee. I was wrong. From the beginning, it has been nothing but a headache. I got an email from Ellen Tholen for a Mr. Donaldson claiming I had a bank account with them before and it was in collections and that the combined $100 I put into my checking and savings was being used to bring that balance current. First, I am not Mr. Donaldson and second, I never had an account with them. So I called, freaking out. The gentleman I spoke with in sales kept giving me the run around saying I should speak to someone in collections then telling me that no, he could handle the issue for me. To again say I needed to speak to collections then saying he would talk to them for me and get back to me on Monday. Only for me to get an email two hours later from Ellen Tholen again saying that she had sent the email in error and that my identity could not be verified so I had to go into the bank to open my account. I immediately emailed her back, asking when my money would be returned to me as I did not wish to do business with this bank with no answer or timeframe as to when my money will be deposited back to me. Keep in mind that I answered a ton of questions about my former addresses, etc to verify my identity only for them to pull this on me. My goal of opening the account online was to not have to go into my local branch as I work odd hours and late into the evenings. I was not looking to take time off of work to simply open a checking and savings account and thus lose pay. NEVER open an account with them online. Worst bank experience ever and worst first impression.

Awww man I've been a dollar bank customer since I was an adult teen. This extremely reliable bank can't seem to stop taking my money in penalty fees. I am switching immediately.

The inconvenience's with Doar Bank just keeps piling higher. Very seldom does my debit cards work when making purchases at Walmart, Home Depot, and many other stores. Their excuse is the card terminals are out of date. I find it hard to believe that every terminal at pretty much every store I frequent is out of date. Last Saturday, I withdrew cash from the atm and pulled away without getting my card. It's no one's fault but my own; I'm not blaming Dollar Bank for my mistake. However, I called the branch where I went to the atm at on this past Monday. They informed me that they don't service the ATM's at the branch, but come in first thing Friday (today) morning and it would be serviced and your card would be turned in. I got here as soon as they opened at 9a. The atm was not serviced yet, so no card. I called a little after 4p this afternoon, not serviced yet. The branch now closes in 30 minutes and it still has yet to be serviced. That's just to name a couple inconveniences. We have been unhappy with the bank since we opened an account but thought it'd get better over time. We will be closing our accounts and moving on. Edit: I called right before they closed and they informed me that they have no idea when the ATM will be serviced. "Could be tomorrow, could me Monday. Hard telling when they might come." First, why does the branch not have access to the ATM that is on site? Secondly, if you don't know a specific day or time the atm will be serviced, don't tell customers to be at the branch as soon as they open on Friday (today).

I have had accounts with Dollar Bank since 2007. I’ve kept these accounts through numerous relocations throughout the United States because of the convenience and flexibility afforded by online/mobile banking and Freedom ATM alliance. I WAS always satisfied with the customer service and was proud to support a “local” and “mutual” institution. However, the bank that was, is no more. On multiple occasions, I’ve LITERALLY spent hours on hold or being transferred from one representative to another without a satisfactory resolution. Compared to personal experiences with other online banking platforms, Dollar Bank’s platform is woefully inadequate - it functions and appears to be operating in the year 2000. You’re forced to call Customer “Service” for many of your needs that should be available to complete online. It’s a shame to see a once great bank fall so far. I would no longer recommend this institution.

They keep automatically pulling payments for a mortgage account that was already paid and closed. And then asking me to apply for a refund for the extra payments they incorrectly deducted from my other back accounts. I will need to sue them if they cannot resolve it within a few weeks.

This is literally the worst bank I’ve ever had or heard of. Dollar Bank continuously puts fraud alerts on my card to occasionally block me out of my bank account. The most recent incident I was out of town where there were no dollar bank locations and they flagged my account and blocked me out and wasn’t made aware that I had to go into the bank to get this taken off until the day they stopped my card therefore I was not able to go in to a branch due to my location so they offered only one other option and that was to give me a “quiz” and my life only things that could be proven such as address, and what car I owned & previous addresses however after the “quiz” was given they told me I failed the quiz on my own life even though I had verified evidence that my answers are factual & they told me it was nothing else they could do for me and I couldn’t touch my own money so for the next few days I slept under bridges and park benches until a family member could make it down to the location I was at to recuse me, I even had my luggage stolen. My social security and everything they asked me for was proven to be correct and they still wouldn’t allow me to use my own money. I’ve been with the bank for a little over two years and I’ve had more problems with this bank then any bank I’ve ever had combined, this place is unprofessional, lawless and should be closed for good, such a poor excuse for a bank.
