I have never had debt in my life, some random person gave them my number and they've been contacting me for years. Talking to them multiple times they will not take me off the call list when I have no clue who the debtor is.

I can't believe that this company gets away with what they do or how it's even legal to do. I recently found out I was being sued by them. But I didn't get mail from them or the courts. I only found out because I got 3rd party advertisement mail from about 7 different law offices. It was regarding 3 year old medical debt for a collapsed lung that I had. I was laid off from work 3 months after it had happened and had the hospital bill waived. I never got any mail or phone calls from this organization at all. When I called them, they said they sent certified mail this year on 04/15/20, which I never got, I'm sure to no one's surprise. But they admitted to me that they hadn't sent anything before that since November of 2017. Which 2 months after that, January 2018, my mom passed away and then the same year we found out that my sister had the same cancer. So, needless to say, even if I did get a single piece of mail from them in November 2017, my life was far too chaotic to notice it. They admitted to me that they only send ONE SINGLE piece of mail. Nothing else. They won't send more mail because, according to them, they don't legally have to. They also admitted to me that when they call, they block their phone number on caller IDs and won't leave a voicemail. Why? Well, according to them it's for your protection. But everyone knows that most people won't answer a phone number that comes up blocked. Those are usually scams and often means the company has something to hide. Usually if it's not blocked but I don't recognize it, I'll ignore answering it but then search it so I can find out if I need to call back. But this company you can't do that with because they block their phone number from caller ID. Then they said they legally can't leave voicemails, even a simple "Hi this is Credit Management calling regarding an account you have with us. This matter is urgent. Please give us a call back at *insert phone number*." So, if the phone number is blocked on caller IDs, they don't leave voicemails, and they only send ONE piece of mail, how are we even supposed to know that they're trying to contact us? They waited 2.5 years to sue me and couldn't tell me why their policy doesn't have them send out more mail if they don't get in touch with someone by phone. To make matters worse, they filed the lawsuit on 04/14/20, one day before the stimulus check was supposed to arrive for everyone. Meaning they saw that the stimulus check was going out to people and timed their lawsuits when they knew everyone would have the money available to cover at least part of it, even though that money was meant to cover rent and bills during the pandemic. They wouldn't admit it over the phone but it's so completely obvious. I'd be interested to see the data of how many lawsuits they've filed around this time. From what I learned, even though they wouldn't admit it, this company does the absolute bare minimum to try to contact you only so they can sue you years later so they can get even more money. If they had mailed something out to me in the 2.5 year period after the ONLY mail they choose to send out, then I would've contacted them about a payment plan. But they know that, and they want to collect on interest as well. They prey on people they get debt for and don't have a single care in the world. Oh, and their customer service is awful. They'll hang up on you if you ask too many questions they can't give legitimate answers to other then "Oh it's company policy." and not saying WHY it's company policy. Even supervisors will hang up on you. They just give you excuses and take you in circles. Should also mention they charge you for the court costs they incur after never making any attempt to actually get in contact with you over years of time.

If you’re reading this they’ve probably already drained your account. I gave them my lawyers information and they pretty much refuse to give them a call. I’m a single mother of two and even though this is a shared debt they completely drained my account right before rent too.. The only way to fight these kinds of people is to know your rights. Don’t get emotional learn what they can and can’t say to you and lawyer up.

People still have to live and pay bills this company and many companies like this have very unethical practices! You shouldn’t drain a persons entire bank account! Take a portion not the whole entire thing. I have a medical bill they are garnishing me for I can’t afford to pay it if they had a lower payment plan I could have. I have read comment after comment on here people not being able to pay their rent ect because you have taken all their money that’s sad. I spoke with a lady at credit management you can tell they are well trained in not caring.

This is a wonderful company that takes social responsibility to heart, has given back to the community and the atmosphere of the facility is professional. I appreciate the time and effort spent on this matter to help clear up personal debt that I had forgotten. They set up a payment plan that works for me. As a business administration degree graduate I appreciate your dedication in keeping costs down for other Americans in the country, keeping deductibles and services reasonable for all families.

Credit management doesn’t even deserve one star! I’m a full time college student who uses student loans to pay for my schooling and housing. Credit management recently sued me for $773 worth of medical bills that were from 2017 when I was starting my freshman year of college. Although my parents put the medical bills on bankruptcy, credit management had the audacity to come after me because I had just turned of age to be considered an adult. It’s truly heartbreaking the kind of people we have in this world.

They got ahold of me one time in 2014. I’ve had the same number for years and they’ve never tried calling after. I forgot about the debt and just this month, August of 2021 I was served by an officer to cease my vehicle. Called CMS to talk to them and although they did end up setting up a payment plan with me, I found out that they took me to court in 2014 after admitting that they got my letter sent back because we had moved and never tried getting in touch with me again. The courts approved on their behalf after the letter was sent back to them.

Although I have never had a bill to pay CMS personally, I have dealt with them regarding a third person. The business practices of this company is no better than a den of rattle snakes or Scrooge before his revelation. They do not care about people or other businesses. They have no compassion & no understanding. They only care about getting their 50% of the debts. Yep, they keep at least 50%. If an employer sends a garnishment check and it arrives late because of the mail, they charge the employer a fee. If a debtor is paying the debt personally, they will still take the debt to court and order a wage garnishment. There is absolutely nothing good to say about Credit Management Services, Inc.

    Small Business

I have taken the time to read all 69 reviews here on this page. First off, I want to say I am a small business owner. I understand that some situations happen in the course of life for which a person can not change such as a health crisis or loss of a loved one. I too have faced these same challenges and had the bankruptcy lawyer on retainer. Thankfully GOD had other plans. I would also like to say, I don't know each of your stories. But I have my own stories which span 20+ years in business. I think some people's perception of business owners is that they can afford to just carry everyone. People look at the work truck we drive or the house we live in and make assumptions. We have bills we have to pay not only to keep the business doors open, but also this is how we provide for our own family. So my question to some of you on this message board, is why have you been turned into collections in the first place? Is it like some of our customers who we have carried for over 2, 3, and sometimes 4 years or more at no interest and have yet to receive any form of monthly payment? Trust me, I have heard every story imaginable. I just had a person lie right to my face when I asked have you ever been here before. Said person told me no. When I played dumb and started taking his info, I said well are you so and so. He said yes. I told him you still owe me from 2014 and you have never made a monthly payment to date. Why should I believe you this time if I help you once again? You see, after you have been burned so many times as a business owner, trusting becomes even harder. We business owners are not the ones who have created the situations each one of you face. Sometimes those situations are out of your control, I get that and I can also prove the thousands of dollars I have wrote off for those who have faced hardships in life. But we can't do that for everyone! Look at your situation what ever it may be and ask yourself, are you in this situation because of a poor decision made on your part? If so I urge you to take ownership for your actions and realize, some of us are here to help you, but we and our good faith are also not to be taken advantage of! Unfortunately, I have had to utilize Credit Management's services. What do you do when people keep skirting the law? In all honesty, it is cheaper to just pay your bill or make a firm payment plan with the business trying to help you than to decide to just pay nothing. That is when we owners are left with no other choice but to turn to those people who are specialized to assist us. In the end, It cost us business owners as well as we have to now pay for their services just to recoup part of our operating expenses. The problem with society today is everyone wants the newest cell phone, Ipad, designer clothing, or the newest vehicle. No one wants to look in the mirror any more and ask the hard questions or do what is morally right. If you have a bill with a business, PAY IT. Something is always better than nothing. I have a staff member who divorced her abusive husband and raised three kids by herself and was never turned over to collections. I have personally heard her story. She was to proud to not pay her bills, but some months she only paid $10! She told me those business were always willing to work with her, they just wanted a sign of good faith. If anybody else decides to post on this message board, I would first ask yourself, why have I been turned into collections? Would any of posting here like to work for free? I'm guessing the answer is no, so why would any of us business owners feel any different. Lastly, I'm sure it gets old for the staff members who work at collection agencies. It is a shame they have to exist in the first place and I'm guessing if you are receiving their calls, you are probably not very pleasant on the phone either. Always ask, what is this going to cost up front and if you can't afford it all, ask if you can make up a payment plan. But remember, if you agree to the terms, FOLLOW THROUGH!

TL/DR: sent one collection letter I never received to collect a small debt at a hospital I already paid and they sued me. Nice business model. I received a Summons to court the day before Christmas at my home for a purportedly long-outstanding debt with the local hospital. The debt was for $105.28 incurred in July. The problem is: 1. we were paid in full at the hospital as of September and made a $900 payment in August which would have covered this debt. So this should never have been reported in the first place. That was the hospital's fault. 2. We were only sent one letter in October regarding the debt which I never received. 3. I was told since the letter wasn't returned they could only assume I received it. Of course, the letter wasn't certified it was just mailed. I don't know if my wife accidentally threw it out but I went back through all our archived mail and never found it. Are debt collectors not required to make more than one feeble attempt at collecting a debt before suing someone? Due to court and courier fees my $105.28 debt nearly reached $200. When I contested this with a manager I was told if I felt I was being treated unfairly I would need to contest them in court and they had lawyers and I didn't. I rate this company 0/100.

I have tried to call to find out my options. The first call gave me wrong information. Lied to me. Tried to get me to give my #ss over the phone. I called back the next day. When I refused to give my information over the phone she hung up on me. The woman at the front desk who connects your call isnt helpful. I spent 20 mins on hold before Jessica hung up on me after calling back I had to spend more time on hold. For a company wanting you to pay, they dont actually want you to pay. They are rude and difficult to work with. They call you names threaten to deduct money from your you, want you #ss number they threaten to call your work your family. They call after hours. They need to be reported to the better business bureau.

Highly unprofessional staff. One lady I talked to LAUGHED at me when I tried to negotiate a payment plan but she insisted that if I was late or missed a payment there would be no if and or but’s they would send it to the courts. She laughed again stating she’s just doing her job when I snapped back because I had enough of her belligerent attitude and said do you really think it’s funny that people are in debt? And you demanding unrealistic payment plans onto people is the right thing to do? I get it, you want your money. But don’t you think harassing us is going to really get you anywhere other than a real bad rep? By far THE WORST debt collector I have ever dealt with in my life.
