I reached out to Bart at Cornerstone with some questions about a cash-out refinance to renovate part of our home. He answered all of our questions and advised me on what would be best for us. Within a day, we entered in to the loan process and it was the smoothest, most pain-free process you could imagine for a home loan. Had a good experience overall. The adjustable pre-approval form was really helpful for me, being able to play with different numbers for down-payment, price, taxes, etc really helped me get a better idea of the price range I wanted to stay under. And I appreciated Tandy and Debbie's patience with my many phone calls, I had lots of questions throughout the process but they always answered them and made sure I understood everything. When my offer was accepted I did a soft inquiry with one other lender to see if their rates would be any better, and they were offering the exact same interest rate as Cornerstone. So I'd say expect average rates here, nothing super competitive. It was a little higher than I was seeing on websites that track the daily rates, but it was roughly reflective of the market, and I know rates can also fluctuate a bit with the type of loan you're getting. My property was about 1.5 hours away from the Pensacola area so all of my interactions with them were over the phone, but there were no issues Very early on in the process they give you an overview of the process and the different costs you'll have to pay. My only advice for them would be when you're explaining the closing costs/escrow/etc for the first time with a first-time buyer, give them an example closing-cost sheet to look at while you talk through it. Maybe have all the loan-related numbers highlighted in one color, escrow cost numbers in another, and closing cost numbers in another. They explained everything clearly, but I had to take a lot of notes to keep up. Things really clicked for me when I visually saw the itemized sheet of all the different loan costs and closing costs listed out in one place. Thanks for your help!

Joseph made sure I was kept updated weekly from day one and more often when it was necessary. Him and his team always made sure I was aware of any paperwork I needed to sign and answered any questions that I had promptly! He made sure to tell me all the facts from the start. I initially started my pre-approval process with another company, and the deciding factor was that I was working with my previous company for a few months and had no idea I had to start saving for closing costs. Joseph told me the day I applied to start saving and figuring out where the money for closing was coming from. I know that he worked hard to ensure I was able to close on time and was calling me late Friday before and still working the Saturday before to ensure everything was submitted when it had to be! There was even an issue with the appraisal and the price of the house changed about two weeks before closing, and he still managed to make sure I closed on the date that was initially set! I truly appreciate everything that he and his team did for me and it made my first home buying experience a very positive one! I couldn't have asked for a better person to share this experience with me!
