I have been banking with Cobalt CU for a few years now and I am having a completly different experience than those being experienced by others who have done negative reviews. Every time there was an issue dealing with mismanagement of money or payments being taken without my knowledge it was fully on me, not the banks error. Every time I call I receive full undivided attention. I recently applied for a business credit card and in the conversation I mistakenly said lime of credit assuming it was synonymous, it was not. Luckily it was caught before the paperwork was finalized and had the application switched to a credit card. About a year ago I purchased a new vehicle and not only was CCU the best offer, it was not even close. The interest rate and term was untouchable even with my less that good credit.

Absolutely rude was charged 5 fees in two days totaling $175 talked to a lady and she was disgusting. We just had a baby and during the formula outage and it’s very expensive so I spent $175 on fees instead of buying my baby food! We’ve been banking for a couple years and never had such terrible service anywhere

This bank is so bad . Unfortunately they’re the only ones I could finance a vehicle through at the time and let me say it’s been horrible . It doesn’t let me make an account on their website to do bill pay so I have to do express pay which is fine but then that doesn’t work . And then they wanna charge me to pay bills over the phone ? Trash bank trash company don’t do business with them

I had a very unpleasant and embarrassing experience at the Cobalt in the Walmart in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I needed a document notarized and called days in advance to ensure that a notary would be present on a Saturday. I explained that someone was driving all the way up from Missouri to sign a contract that needed to be notarized. I was assured that all of the tellers were notaries. Well this appeared to be true, but what they failed to mention was that they would only notarize a signature for a customer of the credit union. I explained that I was a customer, but the teller, a smug, annoying bureaucrat, said that she could only notarize my signature not anyone else’s. And then she refused to even notarize my signature because it was on the same piece of paper as the buyer. Now I’ve used notaries in the past, even at Cobalt, and have never run into this situation. What kind of service is it if they will only notarize signatures of their customers. Do they expect their customers to only conduct business with other Cobalt members? This seems short sighted. Service really has gone down since they changed their name to Cobalt.

I will be so glad when our cars are paid off. I will never have a loan through Cobalt again. They pulled double car payments on both of our cars without our consent. Of course, they deny it and said that we consented to it and how could I have proof. I do not trust their online payment system and I will be recording all of my online payments from now on to have proof. Our payments are due on the 26th and we have until the 11th to pay them in order to avoid a late fee. Things happen and sometimes you can't pay right on time, that what a grace period is for, right? Before we even get to the 11th our account says that we owe double. I make sure to change the amount paid to what was due on the 26th. But for some reason they still pulled the doubled amount. If I could switch my loan elsewhere, I would. I don't trust them one bit. We never used to have this issue until after the first of the year. They need to check their system.

Absolutely horrible. Had an account here for YEARS. Had a fraudulent charge on my account. First they disbursed the money (over $5800) instead of rejecting it because I did not have that much in my account. But after gathering the paperwork they requested I was informed they refused to reject the charge or even dispute it despite the fact that it was NEVER authorized by me. What’s worse. They locked all of my account denying me access to ANY of my money until the dispute was resolved, which they refused to do. Leaving me of the hook for $5800 I didn’t authorize or have. Worst bank service I’ve ever had.

Idk why Cobalt is messing with my credit when I ended the account with them and went back to Wells Fargo. In the midst of leaving this organization, they put on my credit $58 that I do not ANYTHING about. Never received a notice about this money being owed or anything. They keep updating my credit possibly putting BOGUS remarks on it. Do NOT bank with these people … seriously save yourself the hassle.

The most heartless and unwilling bank to work with members I have ever used in my life. Completely unwilling to work with people despite covid and will destroy your credit because they can. They don't care if you have a perfect history with them for several years and a worldwide pandemic hits. Absolutely no loyalty to members. Absolutely the worst bank I have ever used. Save yourself from this crooked organization and find any other bank who cares about their members, especially long term, responsible members.

So I’m currently out of state to help out with a family emergency and I got a call from Cobalt saying my account had been compromised. The customer service representative helped me shut down that card and told me that a new card would be sent out without telling me how long it’d take. I should have asked but I was flustered. After a whole week and some odd days I called to ask about shipping and the representative told me 7-14 business days which was no big deal at the time. It has officially been 14 business days as of today and I called them just to make sure that my card had been sent. She told me there must of been a glitch because it wasn’t showing that a card had been issued and that she would send out a new card which would take another 7-14 business days if not longer because of shipping delays from COVID. So now I’m going to be waiting over a month for a new card that is going to be sent to my home address that I’m not currently at. This has been an incredibly disappointing experience and I will be shutting down both my savings and checkings accounts with them. Oh, and another annoying tibit about this whole mess has been that the person who stole my card number was using Samsung pay with my pin from West Palm Beach, Florida. In order to set up a mobile card you have to call your bank and they have to verify your information. I’m not sure exactly what information is needed for Samsung pay given that I have Apple Wallet but I cannot imagine its much different from the information needed for Apple. They want your phone number, address, and card information. So clearly the security measures are not great

Cobalt credit union is a joke. They've had my payments jacked up $100 more then they were suppose to be. I got 1 month or 2 behind on payments but was getting caught up slowly. I tried contacting them every day this week to explain the situation and no one ever took my call, but I got put on hold for 15-30 minutes every time. And tonight they just came and repossessed my truck without my knowledge, or any notification that they were sending someone to repo it. This is a terrible place to finance anything through.
