I had the most amazing experience with Celtic. Cory Lucas has been so supportive of our Vision and saw us til the finish line in order to fund our projects. My experience was ABSOLUTLY chaos. The main reason for the rating is for the care and support I was given by Cory Lucas. If you are looking to take advantage of an SBA loan - I would encourage against it unless you have A LOT of patience. Gratefully, I just closed and Cory was able to help me with my business acquisition. However, it was a bumpy ride. My advice to Celtic Bank would first be communication. I wish I had more communication, and I wish expectations were set realistically. I was first given the impression I would be able to close 30-45 which sounds reasonable as that is the time a lender who works with residential mortgages takes. Sadly, It took 4 months and I felt like I was extremely responsive to request by the lender. Secondly, would be to management. I was told by my underwriter and closer that they were both new (on a few occasions). I get that, but it does get old to hear. Hopefully upper management treats their staff well to combat the current employment crises. Hearing that excuse is a good fall back, but after a few times it gets very old. I did enjoy Cory and am very grateful for his guidance. Navigating the SBA loan process was not something I hope to ever do again.

If you are looking for a SBA business loan, Celtic is your bank. Celtic and their team not only funded our original loan to get our business off the ground but then when we just had the opportunity to purchase the building, Celtic and their team were right there to get us to the finish line. See Celtic Bank's pathetic response to an FDIC Complaint below: Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your complaint regarding the M1 Owner’s Rewards Card, issued by Celtic Bank and powered by Deserve. In the complaint you indicated you received an invitation to apply for the card, which you did. You further indicated that someone from Deserve called to follow up with you regarding a fraud alert placed on your credit report. After various attempts by both you and Deserve to connect regarding the fraud alert, you indicated that you received an email stating your application was denied due to “Other – Information provided does not match application or external source(s).” For resolution, you requested a more detailed explanation of why your application was declined and for the company to approve you for a card. Deserve has completed an investigation and the results are outlined below. According to our records, we received your application on October 26, 2021. After running a soft pull on your credit, which does not impact your credit score, we were made aware of a fraud alert on your credit report and your application was then flagged for manual review on October 28, 2021. To clear the fraud alert, a Deserve fraud agent (specifically dedicated to M1 Card applicants) attempted to complete a fraud verification phone call to properly verify your identity. Accordingly, an outbound call was made to the number provided on the application on October 29, 2021. The call was not answered and a request to call back was left via voicemail. Deserve’s general customer support team received a call from you on November 1, 2021 where you attempted to complete the fraud verification process, however, since there wasn’t a dedicated M1 Card fraud agent available at the time, you were advised by the customer support representative that someone from the M1 Card team would call you back. Another outbound call was made to you on November 24, 2021 by an M1 Card fraud agent to again attempt to complete the fraud verification processes. Again, the outbound attempt was unsuccessful, and the agent left another voicemail. You made another call on November 24, 2021 to Deserve’s general customer support team and requested to speak to the fraud agent but again, there were no fraud agents available. Unfortunately, because of not being able to clear the fraud alert, your application was declined on day 30 (November 25, 2021) following your submitted application.

Absolute nightmare of a bank to work with. It takes days for responses. Nobody is held accountable for what they say. Processes and systems are the constant excuse. Collateral takes weeks to be released after loans are paid off.

I researched a number of banks when my business decided to obtain SBA 7a funding. Celtic Bank in Salt Lake City is advertised as a SBA top ten lender and my experience with them was excellent. The contact assigned to our file, (Robin Burger) communicated what documentation would be necessary and was professional and courteous in every exchange. Great bank with great team. The online application process and what i needed initially and had provided was confusing in the portal but the rest of the process warrants five stars. My underwriting contact Brenden and my closer Marla were outstanding at what they do. They kept me informed, set clear expectations of what was next and always responded quickly to my emails or questions. I couldn't ask for a better team. I will continue to do more business with Celtic based on this experience.

If you are a small business in Utah, avoid this bank. I was hoping they would provide an option with good customer service to local companies looking for SBA products. They don't. Although the sales staff is serviceable, the loan servicing department not only refuses to be helpful, they insist on being rude while doing it. Unfortunately, small businesses need to look elsewhere for an institution with a focus on customer service.

I had a complicated small business loan. Coming off a rebuild after hurricane Sandy where my relatively new restaurant was completely destroyed. We were able to get back on our feet, but owed money to many vendors, contractors, banks, credit cards and some unconventional lenders. Celtic bank worked with me and structured a manageable loan consolidating lots of debts. They took the time to understand my situation and find a solution where I found no other lender willing to do so. Three years into my loan now, Celtic Bank continues to support and their servicing helped me get through a particularly rough Spring time as we headed into our busy season. Ritesh and Sydney have done fantastic work to reach this closing at finish line. There was lots of hurdles was on the way but they never give up and always gave me moral support. As a small business owner, the SBA's Paycheck Protection Program was generally incredibly difficult to navigate, often amounting to a game of musical chairs. Particularly for my company, which had a more complex profile in 2019 given a change in payroll providers, we weren't able to receive much traction with any lenders - until we reached out to Celtic Bank. I can say personally that - of the 15-20 different lenders we spoke to during this process - Celtic Bank rose above the rest, delivering quality customer service and attentive, diligent work as the rest of the industry seemed to be falling apart. In particular, Kung Nguyen, was outstanding. She spent hours on the phone with me, learning the intricacies of our business's operations (they were more complex than most) and helping to make sure we got our relief through the program. I can't say enough - not only about the quality of my experience with Celtic Bank - but about what a contrast this was to virtually every other lender we spoke to. The PPP situation was a very difficult one for lenders but Celtic Bank shined under pressure and delivered for my business. They have a new customer for life in us! I highly recommend Celtic Bank as a banking partner for any small business.

Horrible experience!! Never ever work with this bank. No sense of urgency, wish there is something below 1 star. Missed deadlines twice, costed us over $40K. Missed deadline for SBA Guaranty fee, costed us over $113,000. No communication, rather then keeping you in the loop and providing you the information, you have to extract the information to figure out where things are. Finally if you don't know what stress is work with Michael Rice, VP Business Development.
