BMO Harris Bank Main St, Crete

Make sure you look at your checking statements for “maintenance fees”. Twice I had a “free” checking account then BMO decides to change the account to a fee account. They don’t inform you because maybe you won’t notice the$12.00 maintenance fee every month. Then if you do notice and call them they make you come to the bank to sign papers to be moved to another free account. They don’t need to sign when they change your account to a $12 fee account but they need you to come in when they sneak and change your free account to “FEE” account. I wonder how much they make on this scam,

Extorting kids! Done business with BMO Crete branch for more than a decade. Daughter brings in her pickle jar with her pennies, nickles, etc that she saved for more than a year to pay for her trip to Guatemala to help in an orphanage. And BMO decides that she must pay a 10% fee for them to machine count coins, since she does not have an individual account. Even though she has her drivers license to prove that her parents (with the unique hyphenated last name- only 2 of us in the world) have an account... since we are not physically present she needs to pay 10%. Congratulations BMO, you international company with your corporate rules and the local branch that doesn't behave like a community bank with a heart. You extorted $27.00 from my kid's change, collected over more than a year. Guatemalan orphans, kids learning to save or international profits? Tough choice on that one local Crete teller (supervisor). Tell you what, why don't you give the kid her money back and she'll know what to do the next time? Where should we open an account for her- her free student account at BMO? Sounded good when I talked to teller last week... Tough decision.
