When I decided to refinance my home, I searched online for local companies as I wanted that personalized, efficient service. Of course, I ended up receiving lots of national companies also. They all seemed to offer basically the same options, so I spoke with each via phone. Again, very personable. However, when I checked their client reviews, the truth came front forward!!! Bay Equity Home loans with Mike Richardson, a local Reno lender, had all 5-star reviews!! That said mountains to me as out of the three companies I was reviewing one actually only had a 1 and the other a 3, but the reviews were either 1s or 5s averaging to a 3. I wanted excellent service always! My perspective, coming from a business background, meant that communication was of utmost importance. When we decided to refinance our home loan, I first looked at some of the advertised national lenders; however, I was concerned about some of the reviews and comments that I found on the Better Business Bureau website. After a bit more research, I found Mike and the reviews for his services were uniformly top notch. I gave Mike a clear objective for our refinancing and this is what he worked for without trying to sell us any other product. Mike walked us through the process and gave clear instructions as to what was needed and provided an easy-to-use, secure site for uploading necessary documents. Mike kept on top of the process and changes in interest rates and locked in a low interest rate for us as interest rates started to climb. Since I am semi-retired and self-employed, it seemed that the loan underwriter requested a never-ending stream of documents. I found the continual request for more documents annoying and frustrating; however, Mike patiently walked me through these requests and finally, the loan was approved. Although we were out of town for closing, Mike arranged for a notary to come to us for signing of the necessary documents.
