Barksdale Federal Credit Union E 70th St, Shreveport

I opened my first bank account with them. It's going on about 11 years now with Barkstale and have never had a problem. Never had money missing, or some error with my account. Representatives were always kind and helpful. I don't really see the need to switch banks ever. Kim McKnight is a wonderful representative. While she was opening and closing accounts for me, we talked about off topics and had a really nice transaction.

They are predatory and have been manipulating overdraft charges/deposits to gain overdraft fees. Even when you have overdraft protection turned off. A lawyer I spoke to recently said they are the worst bank you can use because of other predatory practices they employ. Do not use BFCU. Go anywhere else.

I have yet to figure out WHY it is so hard to get a hold of anyone here by phone. I have been transferred around the world to their answering service, back to the operator, back to the answering service just to be told that I need to call the local branch again. I am TRYING to get a loan and give them my money and apparently they do not want it. The only reason they have 3 stars is because A. they have the best rates around and B. the people I actually do get to talk to are nice. I just wish this bank had better phone protocol.

This is a great credit union!

An old check was stolen from me, didnt even have the same name nor address on my account and teller cashed the check. Took 5 mins for that person to get my money, took Barksdale 5 days to refund my money. Then an ach payment came out of my account, the person who set up the auto draft was off one number from his account. Went to the branch to sign affidavit and guess what takes 24 to 48 hours to get money back. They quick to hand out your money but not quick to give it back!!! When you call same song and dance , we sorry blah blah .

BFCU is amazing, the E. 70th location, however, is awful.

The best Credit Union. Always recommend them to everyone I know! They are always so helpful and takes the time to make sure you understand everything.

I've had an account with BFCU for years without problem. It wasn't until we tried to get a mortgage throught them that we had problems. We applied for a VA loan and were strung along for five weeks, had $1300.00 invested and then were told on the day before closing that we were not elegable for a VA loan. You'd think that a bank with military affiliation would know the requirements for a VA loan. Next we change to a conventional loan where you need 5% down. We come up with the money only to be told we needed more. We get more. Only to be told we needed more. We get more.. Only to be told we needed MORE. When it came right down to it we've had to cut our loss of nearly $1500 and not get the house. I've never delt with a group of more incompetant people in my life. I would expect that these people would have more knowledge than they do. I can't speak for all of the representatives at BFCU but I do know that the man we have dealt with for nine weeks, Ulysses Fortuna, has no idea what he is doing. He talks down to you like you are stupid and never has a direct answer for your questions. It takes days and multiple phone calls to get in contact with the man. Overall he is inable to do his job in a way I would expect someone who is handling something as important as home loans to be able to do their job. I would not recommend using BFCU.

For what I use a bank for Barksdale is just fine. Never had a problem with loans or customer service.
