Barclays Bank Delaware Reviews

Have had this card for several years. I have disputed a $2800 charge which was is still on ding after months of waiting. Also because I have a balance on my card this was balance was filed on my mother's credit info causing my moms credit score to go down. How is it she is penalized just for being a extra signer on my account. Such poor customer service. These banks have gotten way to big to offer any decent customer service. Get the miles they offer when opening the card, go on a trip then close the account.

This is the worst bank ever!!! I have had the Priceline Visa for over 2 years and have never been late or over my limit. I had a 9000 limit and only had a little over 2000 on it when they reduced my limit out the blue for no reason to the exact amount I had charged and then will not refund the $26 over the limit fee because the finance charge put me over the limit. This is extortion and is probably going to stain my good credit and then they tell me to dispute it with the credit bureau. I'm transferring my balance and getting my lawyer. I am also going to tell everyone and anyone about them and report them to the bbb.

I called to submit a claim that one of their customers had committed fraud against us. They "bought" over $3,000 worth of furniture, took it all home, blocked our number, and claimed it was a fraud. When I called Barclays the lady on the phone LITERALLY (I can't believe it myself) told me "We don't care about that, you must contact the cardholder" I have no idea how this place exists
T
I was able to get in contact with the customer service. 2 credit card were taken out. A Jetblue and Priceline card and that was why my credit has been checked. Something doesn't smell right
J
They don't even deserve one star. Worst customer service ever. I was trying to help a customer of ours with an issue and this bank was absolutely useless and refused to help either myself or their own customer. Do NOT open an account with this bank, the are a total fraud.
D
I'm presently very disgusted with this credit card. Would choose zero if I could. The service is awful and foreign based. There is no humanity at all. I have fraudulent charges on this card but they won't assist. Recommend moving to another card with good customer service like Amex or Discover.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but changing the AARP credit card from Chase to Barclay was a TERRIBLE decision! I used the Barclay card on 10-01-21 and didn't get an alert about the charge until 10-09-21. The alerts are supposed to be IMMEDIATE ... eight days is more than enough for a thief to max out the card. Not receiving an alert for EIGHT DAYS is not acceptable. I have these text alerts set up, so notification should have been made. There have been two other card charges since Oct. 1 and I have not received any alert on those at all. Daily usage Watches for too many transactions and lets you know if the number goes over 1 Daily spending Alerts you when your daily spending goes over $1.00

I don't even bank with Barclays and I can tell you they are HORRIBLE. Recently I began getting calls from a collections agency telling me they were attempting to collect payment for a past due account with Barclays in Delaware. I live in California and do not have any accounts that are past due or in collections. After checking my credit report I did indeed find an account from Barclays that was opened in Feb of last year, which I never did. So I called the bank to get it sorted out and wasted about two hours of my life getting the run around, being transferred from one department to the next and back again, and receiving the worst customer service in my life from a sorry excuse of a man named Colin in the "Security" department, who would not allow me to finish a sentence before interrupting and who ended up hanging up on me because I told him he was being rude and demeaning to me when the error was really on the side of the bank and that I wanted to speak to a supervisor, or at least someone other than him. I had to call back because I need to get this account removed from my name and crotchety Colin hung up on me without helping me to resolve the issue AT ALL. So after filing a complaint against Colin through the "relationship manager" (and being placed on several absurdly lengthly holds throughout the entire process), I was again transferred to the "security" department and had to explain the whole thing over again. After several minutes of supposedly verifying my information, I was told I was speaking to the wrong department , and that security only handled "fraud", but since I was "claiming to have never opened the account", I needed to be transferred over to the Investigations department. As I type this, I am still on hold waiting for the Investigation department to pick up listening to the horrible jazz they use to entertain their customers while they do who knows what. But that's neither here nor there. I have now been on the phone for over 50 minutes, at least 30 of which have been on hold and the remainder are spent talking to people who seem extremely unqualified to do their jobs and have yet to come anywhere close to resolving this issue. Keep in mind this 50+ minutes does no include all the time I was on hold and wasted talking to that joke of an employee, Colin. I am so glad that this is not my bank, so angry that they have still somehow managed to create such a headache for me, and would highly recommend you to SAVE YOURSELF & TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! Unless you are a criminal, because apparently it's quite easy to open a fraudulent account with Barclays and they show very little remorse about this.

This is by far the worst credit card company that I have ever had an account with in years!! I opened the account to do a balance transfer everything went smoothly …i made several payments weekly to the card balance when the balance was low enough to make one large payment . I paid my card off before the closing statement so a finance fee of ($24.85) was apply ( total my fault) but they then charge me a $29. late fee for not paying on my due date they went even farther lol . Barclays dropped my available credit from $4000. to $500. I have never been late in 18 months and always made multiple payments. When i talked to customer service to get the issue resolved i was told to apply for a credit increase lol. End Story “Closed my account today “

If I could give 0 Star I would. Worse bank ever. I been with them for 6 years, with the Black Card with $500 yearly fee (Rip off). I paid my balance in fully early each month. Recently my card was used online by unknown person(s) at several location. I reported it, they did an investigation and agreed it was fraud. However after 1 month they added all the charges back telling me 1 of the 4 vendors told them that I signed for the merchandise. Of course I did my own investigation and went to the UPS and found out it was false. However with all the proof of wrong names and addresses used by the suspect(s), they refuse to take liability as required by FDIC in case such as this. It took 2 weeks to get a call from a supervisor, and each time I called I was on the phone for hours. It turns out they have no branches in the US. All the reviews on here, Yelp and BBB is all negative about these clowns. They told me to write a letter to the officer of their president, which I did. My next complaint will be to FDIC and anyone else I can think of. Save your money and go to a real bank.

ZERO stars...but it's not an option. Received the complete run around regarding documentation submitted for SCRA benefits which is legislative law for Servicemembers. They said they never received the Orders. Upon contacting customer services numerous times I was placed on hold for long periods of time, given phone numbers that didn't work, or simply just couldn't get assistance with this matter. I filed a BB complaint 1 July 2021, recieved a call from Marquishia which was worthless. After the not receiving a response in the 6 week period the BBB allows, I filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I received a response within hours of that submission. Again they claimed they never received the orders. I was given a fax number to fax the Orders to. Again more time and money for a simple matter. Yesterday I was told I would only receive a 3 month credit for the interest although the Orders are dated November 2020. However, the collection department gave me an additional credit..... This company does not have any mention of a department nor phone number for SCRA actions anywhere.....

Horrible customer service - AARP just transferred their MC service to this bank. They were not ready. AARP and Barclay's owns this horrible CF - almost worse than Biden's Afghanistan withdrawal other than he killed 13 servicemen. But based on the wait times to get a "customer relations" person on the phone with Barclay's, a bunch of AARP's clients will die - my wait times were 2+ hours, 1.7+ hours and the 8th or 9th call was 35 minutes when a CSR finally picked up the phone. After about a minute of incompetence from her, I asked to speak to a supervisor. After the 5th request for a supervisor which she never acknowledged, she hung up the phone after about 2 more minutes of pure silence. And if Barclay's cares to know the when / where, you can certainly reply to this rating. I will NOT pay my bill to Barclay's until someone contacts me - I am 89 and can wait. The charges on my card were made with a Chase credit card and not a Barclay's credit card and I am not responsible to Barclay's for any charges.
g
Does anyone know a direct number to this clowns and not the number that is listed on the site which is a number to Barclays central hub. For 4 days I have been trying to unlock my account and not a single person knows how to this.
E
Unbelievably poor customer service. Sorry to say that my credit card is handled by this terrible .Barclays. Charges not made by me are sloppily investigated and Barclays believes the company rather than me as a customer I wish I could close the credit card but I have accumulated too many points. HORRIBLE OUTFIT.
S
The worst costumer service from any credit card company I have ever had.Not to mention there "Black card" BS. I had a dispute where I have the receipt. The dispute department is not in the USA, could not understand the person speaking. I had to file a lawsuit so far $22k if attorney fee's. I am going to also file a complaint with the Office of Currency Comptroller. I suggest anyone else who has had issues do the same.

This bank is a joke. AARP should have had better sense then to use this bank. Apparently they were sold a bill of goods. AARP went from Chase (who had great customer service) to this bank and they were suppose to cut over your credit cards. I called 3 times to get our new card activated (the call in didn;t work and neither did the web. They have some information messed up) I called 3 times and was on hold over an hour and 15 minutes each time and I gave up. After reading all of these reviews I am going to cancel my AARP card. I cannot trust this bank. I sure wish AARP would have done a much better back ground check on this bank, but I guess it just comes down to the power of the dollar. I wish they had less than a star.

Consumers beware! This financial institution will not protect you from credit card fraud. I was the victim of fraudulent credit card charges and was told by Barclays that I was responsible for the entire amount even though I submitted a police report naming a suspect in the fraud. I also submitted a signed statement indicating I had never been to the locations where the fraud occurred. Barclay's Fraud Department denied my claim with no reason! Barclays Bank in Delaware is the company that is acting dishonestly and should be investigated by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Barclays knows that if I do not pay for the fraudulent charges, they can ruin my credit rating by reporting the failure to pay to the local credit bureaus.

Waived my annual fee and told me to keep my account active for purchases. Then they proceeded to report me over 30 days delinquent on my credit report and my score went down 75 points. Worst bank I've ever dealt with. Spoke to 8 different agents who either disconnected the call or lied to me. The only honest and professional agent was Magee Medoza. DO NOT USE THIS BANK.
A
Fraudulent bank thinly veiled by legitimacy. Everything seems fine until there’s an issue - customer service reps give you false information without hesitation. I hope they get investigated and shut down.
A
New Applicants be aware. They don't speak good English. Employees have access to your social security number, and they will sell your information overseas.

Yes, another victim of absolutely the worst customer service ever. I tried to file a dispute claim and after speaking with 5 agents, no one ever followed up. More than 6 months later, I am trying to be heard but no one in any department has any authority to resolve the issue. The customer service is absolutely the worst of any company I have ever worked with.

I used a Barclays courtesy check but not for a balance transfer but was charged a $400 transfer fee. I spoke with two telephone associates and two managers. The managers told me they were as high as I would ever get in trying to resolve my issue and we’re rude while doing so. After 34 years in the military I usually don’t get fooled by the type verbiage used in this Barclay “scam”. I even tried to cancel the transaction and pay for the item I purchased and they would not assist me. Finally I asked if a bank that makes what they do put more interest in the $400 they took from me than the interest in keeping a customer and was simply told that she was speaking on behalf of Barclays US ( I said “the WHOLE “ bank and she said YES. I can’t believe they let their first line phone associates speak on behalf of the whole bank! I’m done and will never encourage anyone to bank with Barclays. I should have left them when Apple did.

I have to agree horrible customer service. Paid the wrong credit card $1000. and need it transferred over to one of their other cards stated they couldn't do it would tax up to sixty days and would mail me a check in 10 days. Never got check was to remail check and I still don't have it. Called again they stated couldn't help me to transfer me to customer service. I stated I have tried twice and three managers and I didn't want to go overseas again, because they had no clue what to do. Now I am on the net looking up different numbers. Now the person on line states it could have been transfer to my other account. Really??? I hope this works, but 1 800 numbers are useless.

Notified Barclays that I did not receive my online order. After doing some research, I found that the merchant is a scam that operates out of India and uses a address to a plumbing contractor yard in Montgomery AL. This was all very simple research but Barclays did not reverse charge. We are new to Barclays and have used Amex and BofA and they both have always been just in resolution to these matters.

Came to find out of an alleged charge of a ridiculous amount of money that was fraudulent. Found this out through a credit check for my wife. We have never opened an account with this bank or ever done any business with them as we are from Texas. I do not normally leave reviews. Awful customer service. I was put on hold at 4 different occasions which I can expect to an extent. However, two of those were over an hour each and then just abruptly hung up on. Another phone call was bizarre as the “relationship” staffer continued to repeat the same phrase over and over again prior to just hanging up on me. We are still trying to get this situation clarified. Finally was able to get a hold of a “manager” though was told multiple conflicting statements through multiple phone calls of which included that there were “no managers” only “departments.” Poor communication, absence of helpfulness to answering questions, plenty of apologies that lacked any follow through or immediacy to address our concerns. This bank has shown little concern or urgency to addressing this fraudulent charge which is directly impacting my wife and I financially. I’m hoping this has been just a big misunderstanding and an anomaly to their normal service standards. However, from this experience I think it’s important to to tell you of the headaches and stress as a result of attempting to unravel a mess we did not cause but have been left to handle. *UPDATE* Finally made it through to a “Marsha” in the security department. She was extremely helpful juxtaposed to a majority of my interactions with Barclays staff. Marsha helped us with taking the right steps to addressing the fraudulent application and opening an investigation. She answered our questions and even gave us guidance with contacting credit bureaus to set fraud alerts to our accounts. Marsha redeemed Barclays Bank Delaware in our experience. She deserves a raise. I am moving my 1 star to 2 because of Marsha.

I'm just a middle class guy, with 20 years of payment history, and not a single missed payment except for these jokers. A restaurant employee used my credit card right before I was traveling for a few months, and I ended up getting a bill that I was not expecting. When I found out later, I of course paid, but it wasn't until later that I realized that I hadn't even charged the rather large liquor bill. I politely asked Barclays to consider taking the late pay off my credit history, it was the only one in 2 decades. They refused. And they closed my credit account. I then went on twitter and facebook and told them they could GO EF THEMSELVES. I still have 100k in available credit and a lovely credit score. I always ensure to research that Barclays has zero ties or associations to any business dealings I'm working on. I've made sure they've lost several customers for life.
S
DO NOT USE THIS BANK. They are not willing to work with you on resolving issues. Refused to accept a payment unless it's mailed in and will not assist you on removing any derogatory information on your credit report. The lady on the phone informed me that I was being recorded but they will not allow you to record them (shady).Saves your life's work and don't use this Bank

I had a fraudulent account opened in my name. I have been on hold with Barclay's for HOURS trying to resolve it. Somehow they have time for people to open fraudulent accounts, but no time to help resolve the mistakes they made. I have filed a complaint with the BBB on this sham of a company and I encourage others to do the same. Based on fellow google reviews this bank should be shut down entirely.

I am so disappointed with this company. I applied for a card with the intent of doing a balance transfer from two small cards that I have. So I put in the amount of the transfers, hit enter, was notified that I was approved, and thought I was good. Had the card expedited to me only to find out the balance transfers were not approved but I was never notified of this. So I called the bank to close the account but was told due to the terms of the agreement that I was responsible for the shipment of the card. Can't argue with that but as I told the rep I contacted, the agreement was fraudulent because as far as I knew the balance transfer was approved. What the bank did is pretty much of a scam, I hope someone got bonus points for this even though it was at my expense. Just be careful if you deal with this bank, they are definitely not on the up-and-up.

I had a credit balance on my American Airlines credit card. I owed no payment to Barclays bank. I had set up automatic payment to pay the balance of my credit card each month. Since I had a credit, there was no balance due. Barclay's Bank withdrew $2,777.97 from my account leaving me with a credit of $2,804.41. I called them to tell them they withdrew almost $3000 from my personal account when I did not have a payment due, sending my personal account into the negative and they offered to process a refund check in 7-10 business days and send it through the US Mail. I asked them to please reverse the charge or make do an electronic transfer back to my bank and they would not do it, nor would they overnight a check to me. In essence, they withdrew almost $3000 not owed to them and then asked me wait 7-10 days for them to process a refund and then even longer to drop it in the US Mail. They would not let me speak to anyone but stated my only choice was fax or mail. I explained that in a pandemic I do not have access to either of these. They refused to let me speak to anyone, to have a supervisor or someone that could help me, call me back. They refused to electronically refund my money. The customer service supervisor refused to give her supervisor a message to call me back and said my only option is writing in or faxing. No one cared to help me. I have been a credit card holder for 16 years and always paid Barclays Bank of Delaware on time. They have never had to wait for money I owed them but they expect me to wait as long as 30 days before they will let me speak with anyone else and then it has to be a written request or fax. My hope is to help someone else avoid the unethical ways of this bank and lack of concern to help their customers. There are many other banks out there who value their customers and are ethical and honest. Barclays Bank of Delaware is not one of these. I will be closing my account after I get the money they illegally and shamefully took from my account without my authorization or knowledge.
D
This shameful institution opened a fraudulent business account on my behalf without my authorization. Their fraud department is appalling and clearly non existent, así have been waiting on hold over an hour on multiple occasions without anyone ever answering the phone. Their customer service is also ill functioning and managed by people overseas. Once you get through to them after holding for hours, they say they cannot help you and that they must transfer you to their bogus “security department”, which, as stated previously does not have any human beings answering the phone, even after multiple tries and HOURS on hold. Barclays Bank needs to be investigated by the U.S. Government due to their predatory practices, fraudulent accounts, and lack of reasonable response to inquiries regarding fraud. SHAME ON YOU AND SHANE ON ANY INSTITUTION THAT ALLOWS BARCLAYS BANK DELAWARE TO OPERATE.
