Bank of the West El Camino Real, Palo Alto

This bank has got to be the worst! First off, the branch manager, whose name who can’t pronounce will get mad if you try to anyways, will get extremely aggravated when you want to open a new account. No one was in the branch and I saw another banker sitting at the end of the branch who weren’t doing anything at all. This isn’t some P.F. Chang’s where you got to make a reservation, just let me open an account. Anyways, the branch manager said fine, I’ll help and tried to do the laziest job I have ever seen and asked me personal questions not even related to the account at all. He asked if I wanted any water and I said yea, five minutes into opening the account and I swiftly walked out the door and never came back.

I came into apply for the Credit Card they offer, 3% back this or that, who cares now. I have a perfect Credit Score, I must say so myself and I get rejected. How?? Did the lady who called me back to offer me a Secured Card decline it herself. She also offered me a mortgage, I said I own it already, then a heloc, already have one. Then a MMS, is she just trying to sell me something. Then asks if I have business to sell me merchant services. I was sick of being mistreated at this bank anyway due to the horrible customer service. Therefore, I am going to Chase Bank because at least they do not call you every week offering something new that you have said no too all the time.

I walked into the branch at opening time and someone out loud said, great somebody already walked in. It hurt my feelings because I wanted to bring my business with this bank and yet people there clearly get bothered by someone who helps keep them in business. I’m going to Bank of America.

Came to receive a credit card, but was swiftly turned away by the manager at the bank due to my skin color. Not recommended for financial services.

Lied to, blatantly. I opened an account for the sole purpose of having a safety deposit box, was told that an attached account with minimum $1000 deposit would mean there was no annual fee for the box. Turns out they lied and I have been charged $50/year, and as I had never used the account I was not aware. I hate this kind of salient lie, be warned these are not reputable bankers, go to Chase where the safety soloist box actually IS free!

I come into this branch roughly 10 times per month, every single time I end up with this lady. I like her perseverance, yet with all the credit options she offers me, I get sick of it every single time and these options are in no need of mine. I told her I’d love to close my account now, and the branch manager comes over to us, and says “please sir we’d love to keep your business, what are we doing wrong”, and I said you should have just listened to me and my conversation the lady. I quickly got my funds out the account and ran as quick as possible because the manager wouldn’t stop berading me.

This branch is unbelievable. I called customer service earlier and they tell me to come to the branch because I was getting hacked online. Yet the branch has to call their own customer service they said. The manager said out of luck this time, and proceeded to beg me to keep my account open as I closed it. Better off doing business elsewhere as this branch seems to have no customers in it anyways which is no fun.

Overall Bank of the West is a bank that has one of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Specifically the Branch manager at this location, Elizabeth M. Gueco, very unprofessional, rude, and uses fowl language against customers. If you look at the other reviews on this branch and all branches nearby on yelp, google, facebook etc. You will clearly see what I mean. I DO NOT recommend anyone to bank with such a poor unethical Bank, take your money elsewhere. You will probably only get treated right if you only have loads of money with this Bank, therefore they discriminate against the Minority.

Called customer service because I was trying to set up an online account. This guy was RUDE. He had a snotty tone and acted like I was supposed to know all about how to do it. Why would I call if I already knew?? His people skills are low level for banking industry.

Don't get their credit card! There is a fraudulent charge from a fraudulent company that does not have valid phone number, email or street address. Bank of the West says they contacted company and company said they sent goods to my address. Since said company doesn't exist, either B of W is lying out right or company is. There's no way for me to contest this.
