Androscoggin Bank Middle St, Portland

I like most things about this bank. Great Staff, great building. But a big problem came when I wanted to buy something from Great Britain. Androscoggin blocked the transition and told me Great Britain is on their list of blocked international states. They refused to raise the block. Now I understand if I can't buy something from Somalia or Chechnya... But Great Britain? Come on now. It's my money I should be able to spend it wherever I want. I ended up having to buy bitcoin to make my transaction. It was very inconvenient.

Portland staff is very friendly but my god is this bank the worst bank I've ever been with. Only one month but one month way too long. Save the headache and avoid them at all costs.

I've had an account with this bank for a while now and keep getting slapped with fees for random things, which was bad enough but the people are really condescending at the main branch and aren't up front about fees. They also really love to play the blame game and pass around blame. "Oh that's not something I can do. Check with so and so.," who conveniently can't help you either who will redirect you to someone who will lie to you. I've had my branch in Auburn lie and say that "So and so who can help you" was out until Monday and when I went into the bank to make a withdrawal she was at her desk! The service is perfectly adequate until there's an error and then it's a whole bunch of buck passing and blame throwing while no one helps you at all and you end up eating a ton of fees. We switched to a credit union about 6 months ago and haven't had a single problem of the like since. Really really terrible bank with really really terrible customer service.
