I’m not going to lie I was worried after reading all the bad reviews. Yes my loan was a complicated one so it took a couple months to close but that was not a direct result of AmWest. My underwriting process was done in a timely manner with no issues at all. I honestly can say that so far my experience with AmWest has been great and I excited that my mortgage loan is through AmWest.

called customer service today, the person who picked up the call is named "Michael". i called to check on the status of VOM which is very simple just wanted to make sure AMWEST received the request i sent via email, since they never replied. He was extremely rude and yelled at me during the phone call, i wish i recoreded it. literally couldnt stop crying after the call i've never been treated this way from a customer support.

From Account Executive, Account Manager, Loan set-up team, Underwriting, Appraisal Desk, to the Closing Department, each team always delivers the best support to every single loan we submitted. My Account Executive, Underwriting and Closing Management really cares any situation we encountered and tried their best to help take care at their earlies convenience and move our files as soon as possible to the closing. Does not even deserve 1 star. Absolutely disastrous. Been waiting almost 3 months for a purchase loan and still not approved. Already had an extension and we are going to miss the deadline again. Appraisal went out for revisions for the 10th times. Horrible customer service experience. I have never worked with any lender this unprofessional before. Don't waste your time and money with them. RUN.

As someone who works in real estate, It is very frustrating that first they suspended my clients file, all because the underwriter doesn’t review the file correctly, and then have us have to resubmit all the verification docs and begin the process all over again. But it is literally taking 2 months to get my clients loan approved, when everything they asked for to clear conditions is provided, we are still waiting for conditions to clear. Amwest, you guys are horrible to work with, at this point my clients are so frustrated about not being closed when they should have been done, approved and in their new home weeks ago. We will Never work with this company ever again, lack in professionalism, customer service and horrible communication. If i could i would give 0 stars.

AmWest is the absolute worst mortgage lender. DO NOT use them to fund your loans. Their underwriting process is handled by incompetent and inexperienced underwriters. The management is unresponsive and incompetent as well. They requested the borrower to provide proof of his ownership and we provided legal documents issued by both Federal (tax ID) and State issued documents (certificate of formation, good standing certificate, status report), bank signature card, and along with a letter from a CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) to clear the file and they still didn’t clear the file for closing. They went so far to claim that they couldn’t verify the EA’s address when it was clearly showed in the IRS website. The fact AmWest allows their underwriter to impose these unreasonable requirements was wrong to begin with. What worse is their absolute disregard for the legal documents they have in their possession to confirm the borrower’s legal ownership to his company is most disturbing. Federal and State harassment and discrimination laws exist to protect the consumers of mortgage services. A complaint will be filed against AmWest for their harassment and discriminatory practices against the borrower.

This company solicited my address for months since I just bought a new house. Sending a bunch of scam lending offer. Avoid this place at all cost!

Working with AmWest Funding Corp is always a true pleasure. Kathy, and the entire operations team are professional, prompt, respectful, and very hard-working! From submission to funding in around two weeks on all our closings. This is including refinance and purchase loan files. This should already tell how hard-working the entire AmWest Team is. Thank you everyone at AmWest Funding Corp!

Mortgage Brokers & Buyers beware. Do not fund your loans through this company. The worst by far. These reviews are true. Just went through a horrific transaction where an avoidable week delayed could have been avoided. Don't bother emailing the complaints department as I never heard back from them. Multiple properties tied to this transaction and no care, just a file to process. Cost everyone money, time and unneeded stress. Wished the mortgage broker would have simply saw these reviews as it would have saved everyone time & stress. Clearly haven't changed any of their internal methods to remedy what seems to be an ongoing issue.

Terrible customer service. I will give no star if google allows. They keep sending me request for home insurance proof. My insurance agent has submitted it to them after the 1st notice. I uploaded it again in their system after the 2nd notice. I called customer service to confirm they had received it. Waited more than 30 minutes on the phone then chose to have a call back. Guess what, I never received a call back. Two weeks later, I received a $1,500 bill of insurance they purchased for me. Is this company a joke? The way they keep ignoring the insurance information provided but billed the borrower a new insurance is very suspicious.
