Ameris Bank Ohio Ave S, Live Oak

I wanted to open a checking account with my 15yo grand daughter. It was so simple, all of my questions were answered and my grand daughter is quite pleased to be starting her financial life journey.

My husband was able to use his debit on a Friday then he got off work at 10pm and unable to use it. He had off that Saturday so we came to the Lake City Ameris Bank but they were closed. He was still unable to use it, the ATM gave nothing but unable. Yet my debit card worked. Monday morning we went to the Live Oak Ameris Bank. Here they tell us that someone tried to use his card to buy $100 worth of Ohio lottery. They claimed they tried to notify us. The corporate tried, from what we were told. HOW? We had no calls, text messages or emails. When I went to our bank account online NO notification, alert or anything. I get that they were protecting us, which we were grateful for that. However, their claim that they tried to call is crock. No phone number that day to our house or cell phones. Any way, if we didn't like the employees so much at the Live Oak branch we would go with another bank. The LO employees helped us out. We both got new cards and were out of there. I just think the bank as a whole seems to have issues. If they lose thoe good employees we'd bank elsewhere.

Bank of America (BoA) customers around Live Oak were railroaded into this branch when the two banks decided between themselves that customers and their money could be traded piecemeal like property in a deal. We didn't open our Bank of America accounts at this branch nor even do most of our banking there--but as our residential address happened to be close by when the branch was sold obviously we don't have any right to choose our bank. Well, like many in the neighborhood and mostly because changing banks is a nuisance we decided to give this new outfit a chance to win us over. Huge mistake. Almost immediately there were errors in our account related to their clumsy transition process. It took several aggravating conversations to get these sorted out. Bank cards often did not work despite having 5 or 10 times the amount in the account that we wished to spend. This was particularly inconvenient because with Ameris you cannot reach anyone after hours or on weekends to address problems with your card. Funds availability and online banking were also a major hassle. In short their online banking would tell you funds from recent deposits were available. However the ATM would not have the same available balance. Tellers would have yet a different available balance. Problems are exacerbated if you try to access services at other Ameris branches. We were treated rudely twice in a row at the branch in Valdosta and once in Lake City. Ameris is probably the most disappointing bank I have ever used. And it wasn't even by choice. If zero or negative stars were possible this would be it!

I was waited on in a timely manner and the bank receptionist was very friendly and helpful.

The bank itself it’s pretty good and the workers are great and the only issue I’ve had is trying to set up my mobile banking

I am happy with the Live Oak branch of Ameris. The ladies are very nice and professional. They smile and greet me by name. I was initially mad when BofA sold me out after 20 years and transferred my acct to Ameris. However, now I am happy. I closed all my other accounts with BofA. Banking to me is all about customer service. I feel like I am taken care of very well at the Ameris in Live Oak.

So far so good. I'm definitely impressed with a few things so far and look forward to growing Jermaine Gwinn Mobile Detailing with Ameris💯✊🏾
