Buyer beware, yep my fault and I am not one to ever make a scene in a store. Lay-a-way a ring for my mom. Not what we decided to do. I missed the sign and bottom of my receipt. No refund on lay-a-way, was even asked if I was just going to leave the money. Never was totally about money but not leaving money behind. Sign say “We value our customers” I was given no options to resolve in a different way. Started to give me a reason why the don’t. It was simple yes or no to refund. They could have countered with a store credit or a restocking fee. Thanks but no thanks Mark, and yep I do mean I won’t ever shop here again and I seriously doubt you are truly sorry I feel this way.

Was attempting just to look at the sidewalk sale items and was told twice they weren't open yet. I already knew that. Was just looking to see if I wanted to purchase something after 10am. So now matter what they drag out today. Not interested!!

My five star rating is solely for Sheila. While getting my TV out of pawn, I told her I was looking for a small tool bag and a couple of cordless drills that has battery and charger. She knew I had started a new job about six weeks ago that would require me to build up a collection of tools for service calls. Low and behold she goes over to a lock case and finds me a tool bag with a battery variable speed drill matching impact with a battery and a charger for $24.99. Not only that, when she brings my TV out she was carrying a handful of miscellaneous hand tools and says put these in your bag I wanna give you these to go with it. Sheila you're the best. Thanks so much for blessing me.

If I could give this place a half star, I would. They don't even deserve that. Firing your employee because they need time off to take care of a sick child is absolutely horrendous!! Take your business anywhere but here. They're WAY overpriced on their stuff anyway

They had such cool things! Bought a stun gun here awhile back! The employee even showed me how to use it so I wouldn’t harm myself. Asked me if I was in any danger, since I was buying it. I said no, it’s for just in case and he seemed relieved. I loved that he genuinely cared and wanted to help if possible.

Rude , Rude , this has to be the worst experience for me ever. Reading the reviews from here in my opinion its a daily thing with them. Entered the store to sell my gold chain ,gave it to the lady who said they have to verify it..thats all she said..disappeared to the back for several minutes comes back talks to another employee...wants to know what everyone else has offered i would not say...just asked what is your offer...was given a lowball number and I said I'm still price checking ..handed me the necklace in a wad...I laid it out on counter and immediately seen it was broken...complained and was told to just call the cops...which I did....she then offered and piece of gold that was missing...it is modern and not the same...but was told that is all I'm doing...yeah I couldn't believe it...i did take the token piece..obviously no other choice...but will not ever return...and I have done business there before...don't sell anything to these lowballers....or buy here for that matter.

During my last visit I witnessed the staff go above and beyond to help one of their customers who had apparently fallen on bad times. Not what I expected given my preconceptions regarding pawn shops. Here they really do try to help people when they can.

I love the Kansas City location located off of North Oak!! The employees that work in this store are very helpful and extremely friendly. I would totally recommend this store to anyone!!

I would give them more stars if I could. They have gone above and beyond to help me in my situation. The staff has always been respectful and Courteous. If I had to pawn anything again I would recommend. American gold mine. I've never had this experience with a pawn shop like I have with them. I just want to say thank you to all of them.

Very rude over the phone, the elderly lady was at least. When you go in they low ball you. I sold an item I wanted $120 for. They offered $40 so I sold it to see what they would put it on the shelf's for. Next day its listed for $240. They just low ball you I wouldn't do business there with these people. Your best bet would be online shops like eBay and Facebook marketplace unless you need quicker cash!

I was treated very rudely by a older woman when I came in there .. I came in with some studio equipment and she refused to look up the value of it at first. She told me what I had was cheap until she actually looked it up . Once she seen what it was worth she offered me a very cheap price when I told her I didn’t agree with the price she proceeded to ask a gentleman who worked there whom she said was in a band for the record I’m in a band.. he said none of it works without even checking it . I proceeded to ask for the manager. When she finally arrived the older woman literally whispered in her ear then said out loud “ see tell him it doesn’t work “ the manager went with her decision and asked me to leave … I’m new to this town and I find the people very lovely I also take my news job on Monday so I definitely will be making sure the whole st Joseph knows about their neighborhood pawn shop and the employees in there .. I will never go back here or recommend this high priced pawnshop to anybody I know … furthermore anyone who’s reading this it’s better to go to Walmart everything is to high at gold mines

I have never used the pain side of the business but have purchased multiple Firearms there and they have been very professional and helpful and seem to always have at least a somewhat if not better than somewhat decent selection of long guns and pistols

Honestly, If I could give less than one star, I would. I have dealt with them before on a pawn and it was great. This time, I called them and asked what would be the going price for a pawn and a sell price if I brought in my PlayStation 4 to them. Included was the 500GB console, 2 controllers, and a 2TB Playstation Brand external hard drive. She said if I pawned it, I could get $120-$125, and if I sold it, she give me the $200 asking price since she sold theirs for $239, pending of course it was in good condition, which it was. Not a bad deal. So I decided I would sell it for the $200 even. I bring it and am greeted by someone who works there but not the owners I spoke with and she tells me she can only give me 120, even on sell or pawn. The original lady I spoke with offered a fair deal. This second lady not so much, that was practically a scam at that point. I was beyond irritated. I even wasted gas coming 30 minutes down to St. Joseph, which is why I called to begin with.

A pawn shop should be honest and reliable. I have dealt with this shop several times over the years. I have found them to be friendly and fair on most items. I would give 5 stars but i bought a shotgun and the salesperson was woefully misinformed but acted like they knew everything.
