I've been an Ally customer for several years and it's been a good experience. The interest rates are the best you can find just about anywhere, the online portal works well, and customer service is professional and easy to get a hold of. You can do just about everything you need to online 24/7, and they refund your ATM fees so if you need to get cash you just use whatever is closest instead of having to drive all the way across town to find the one Bank of America that's still open.

The worst online banking experience ever. I had it for 5 days and I am leaving them. They want your direct deposit but only allow you to withdraw or use your debit card for $500 limit per day. So I can’t pay my rent because of my limit. They hold my money and I can’t use it. Simply ridiculous to say the least, and their customer service sucks.

So unprofessional. Thankfully I didn’t do business with them personally but the person I bought my Yukon from did the loan I got for my Yukon paid of the original owners loan I have had my car for 7 weeks now and still no release of lien my bank has called them to find out what the hold up is because the check has been cleared for 4 weeks now ally has given my bank such a hard time saying the wouldnt talk to anyone aside from the original owner finally after 5 weeks my bank got them to somewhat work with them & told them the release of lien is in the mail and could take 7-10 days to get to them idk why it would take that long even for snail mail because they refused to fax it… here we are past the 10 day mark & still nothing. Based on others reviews I would suggest to save headache of any kind in the future DO NOT trust them with your business they make anything and everything as complicated as possible. They had no prob cashing a check but seems to be unable to send a simple paper

Absolutely terrible. Called customer service and they couldn't tell my why I still owed $56 when my statement and balance showed zero. Trying to get someone was a total pain as it seems they have set the company up to try and get you to give up before you talk to someone. The rates may be fair but please be aware this company has you setup to fail. They will make you pay in the end. Find a different lender. Boo on Ally. Never again.

Do not lease a vehicle through ally you will never get out of the lease until the terms up. they charge dealers 50-70% above the lease buyout to purchase vehicle out of the lease, and for the love of God don't go over your miles there is no escape if you do that lol I would just avoid ally.

Do not bank with ally. Do NOT FINANCE A VEHICLE through then. If and when you receive a insurance check for reimbursement for damages this CORRUPT company will not endorse it unless they keep it which they have no legal moral or ethical entitlement to. You have been warned this is not a good company to deal with. Obvious from these reviews this company should be shut down permanently.

Worst financial institution I've ever dealt with. Poor communication between sectors ie,accounts receivable and tech support. They're inept and they lack efficient account notes because no one seems to see that the same issue I've had for over a year is yet to be resolved because each new person talk to acts like this is the first time they're aware of it.. like theyre Neanderthals seeing fire for the first time, just no idea and clueless as to how I have this issue or how to fix it. THEY ARE TERRIBLE.

Bank is a scam I pay everything on time they still charged me a late fee. I make more then the minimum payment. They said it was not the same amount that was pulled from my account, that was paid to them Don't use unless you don't care about your money

App never works anymore. Trying to deposit a check won't work. Need a bank that has good service and lately this bank gone downhill.

Worst loan company I have ever worked with. I paid off my entire loan early, in full, then the following month they not only didn’t report that I paid off my loan in full, they put that I was actively behind on payments and still owed them MORE than what my pay-off total was, even though my account with them shows it was paid in full and I received my pink slip, this brought my credit down over 60pts, causing havoc for my credit score since I am intending on getting a new vehicle soon and moving(both requiring credit checks). I do not recommend them as an auto loan lender and I will NEVER be using their services or giving them my business again. Customer service representatives were rude and argued claiming they did not do such a thing, even though it is documented that they did and refused to submit the proper data so that my score can be corrected. I have put in disputes(which can take over a month to resolve), but I am highly upset by this absurdity and unprofessional behavior on their part.

1/26/22 I'm on the phone now! I've spoken to 4 Agents. None if them speak English and refuse to let me speak to a Supervisor they refused. I was put on hold for 10 mins only to be asked the same info that was asked when I was put on hold! Being denied to speak to someone who speaks English is not right.

This experience trying an online bank with Ally, was absolutely below my expectations. So I had the account open for less than a year. Here are my experiences than you might want to know before opening an account with this institution. I opened the account because of Covid, many branches were not open in person. I was initially impressed by the above average APY on interest for checking and savings accounts. Consequently, I opened the a checking and savings account in 11/2020. Over the time, the only issue was I could not access a branch to make cash deposits. Everything needed to be done online and only in check form. In august of this year. I get an email notice that they decided to close my accounts and provided a clause in their agreement that state they can close an account at any time for any reason. The only reason I could surmise is because I disputed a debit transaction, which was declined. I inquired with the customer service team on why, and spoke with a supervisor who explained they don't provide the way. So basically the bank can ghost you and not provide a reason why. I told the supervisor that it was very sad that I have deposited many thousands (50k+) in the time of the account and they could at least provide a reason. Even she admitted that it was sad they don't provide a reason for an account closing. So the take away is a relationship is only good for ALLY as long as they can make money of you. If they want to part ways, you are trash to them and they wont tell you why they don't want your business. STAY AWAY from ALLY, and just open a account with a local bank.

The online customer support could not even verify a cashier’s check. Find a local or a big chain bank with local branches, this bank is not helpful what so ever.

Worst experience I've ever had with any buisness/bank ! They stole from me , they've lied and do nothing to appreciate their loyal customers or any kind of "im sorry this was our error let us fix it" when they screw up! They can faithfully take money from you on time every month for over 3 years electronically but when they over charge you or double charge I must say because that's what they did to me even after I asked and was reassured my lease was over no more automatic payments would be taken out they stated "it will take 10 business days and you will receive a paper check in the mail" are kidding me?? With today's technology you guys can automatically take it out but can't automatically put it back? Also I don't make ally financial wait "10 buisness days" to recieve their money so why am I being treated so poorly for being a loyal customer? I just can't wrap my head around the fact that so many buisness' these days lack such basic customer service especially this one! Oh and also does not help the fact that the mass majority of your customer service representatives barely speak English and do nothing but pass you on from co worker to co worker instead of a manager or supervisor like you asked, so nothing gets resolved you basically get talked to like your listening to a automated service like they are just reading from a computer screen! I'm completely disgusted, definitely stay away from ally if you can you will be nothing but disappointed and screwed over with the outcome sadly.

I have a car “auto loan” with them and they Charged me twice in one month i and they said I didn’t pay the month of December and they sent me a message saying i was late on February and i have proof that i paid every month so now i had to pay march twice please people don’t use this bank take this as -0 stars

Trying to offset some of the flood of negative reviews, because while they're not perfect, they're definitely not 1-star worthy. It's true, Ally is not your typical branch banking experience. If you're looking for hand-held perfect and in person customer service, you'll want to go with a local credit union, especially one that doesn't have a call center. However, if you're like me, a bit techy, and manage 90% of your finances online, and don't care as much about person-to-person service, Ally is great. I switched to them primarily because they had the best rates on savings accounts and CDs out of anyone, especially major banks/credit unions who haven't changed their .10% since the 2008 recession. Important to note that part of the reason they have these rates is because they HAVE NO BRANCHES or HAND-HELD SERVICE. My only negative experience (which is why I deducted a star) was when I was trying to close on my house. I submitted a wire transfer request during my closing appointment in the morning at 9:30-10 AM Eastern. Wire transfers typically take a couple of hours to turn around but are deposited same day. The cutoff for wires on same-day transfers is typically 3 PM Eastern, which I believe is imposed by the federal reserve, not any particular bank. My realtor and title agent followed up with in the early afternoon saying the wire hadn't cleared. I had to call Ally 3 times throughout the day, just to figure out what the status was, whether they got the request, ensuring it was authorized and not in limbo, and whether it had even cleared. It did finally clear same-day, but I would have appreciated a bit more transparency, especially during such a critical time for my family.

I am heartbroken that Ally Bank terminated my account and any future association. Even though I was cleared of any fraud on my part and the bank caught the issue before any funds were compromised, they chose to cut me completely out. Otherwise it was a great experience working with Ally. Note: Don’t let any thing happen to your account or you'll lose a good banking relationship forever...

I bought out my lease with ally and it has been a terrible experience. It has taken over a month and a half so far and there have been multiple mistakes. First, the sale amount was incorrect on the bill of sale, then the VIN was incorrect, after calling multiple times and waiting for the mistakes to be corrected each time, I got the title in the mail and it had the wrong name on it! I finally was able to go to the Secretary of State today to transfer the title and found that they didn’t write the sales tax amount which I already paid them on the bill of sale. Another 30 minutes on hold and being transferred between 3 different people and FINALLY they corrected the bill of sale. Worst customer service ever. It shouldn’t take over a month and a half to get all of the paperwork after sending a check.

Ally used to be the best bank, and I was a loyal customer, but their customer service and security have gone very far downhill. What a pity this is. The security is now very weak: (1) you can no longer use a VPN to access their website when you are on a public network like Starbucks or McDonald's, (2) they do not allow 2-step verification if you have a GoogleVoice phone number, (3) they use mother's maiden name, which is public information, as a security question. Worse still, Ally no longer listens to its customers and gives canned responses to legitimate concerns. Ally is not what it once was; you should not use them.

Was very excited to get an online bank account. Result was worse than I could have imagined. Activated new debit card, Apple Pay does not work. Call number, wait 20 minutes on hold, lady says Apple Pay “been down almost a week” and to “try back in a few days.” Are you kidding me? What a complete joke.

I've had Ally as my main bank for a while now but nothing but problems recently that have made me leave them. The app hasn't worked in over a month, prior to that the biometric login stopped working. Notices come through a day or two later after you needed them especially since I can't just easily login through the app

Ally sucks big time! After 10 years with them, I will be leaving. As others have said, their customer service makes up canned answers and is very incompetent. I transferred money, the transfer went through, then Ally did a charge back. Ally has no clue as to why they did the charge back and cannot provide answers as to why. Screw you Ally, I will be moving my money elsewhere!

Made the mistake of making multiple IRA contributions the last few years to Ally. Bottom line, with both contributions and distribution (I recently requested my first after eight years) they are extremely slow and outdated. Other financial institutions offered bank to bank transfers, including my other IRA accounts, but not Ally. Doesn't say much for a bank that can't facilitate money between themselves and other banks. Extremely disappointed.

We have two cars financed through Ally. We have never had any issues or problems, easy to make payments and the our details on each vehicle is broken down and clear.

Unless you got 90 days to work through the probationary period of being only able to use 500 dollars a day, than you might want to consider another banking system that doesn't hold you back like that. Was about to wire in home sale funds into this account when i found that out - deal breaker, just went to another bank that doesn't do that.

Extremely happy with this online bank. The website (and mobile phone app) are user friendly. Customer Service Reps, when needed, speak to me like a human being, (not like a robot). Plus, they are native English speakers, and rarely is there a wait. I can use any ATM---and they reimburse ATM fees! (They now use Zelle for money transfers; they discontinued Pop Money.)

Unbelievable how long it takes this company to get you lein release paperwork. I’ve had to push back the sale of my car twice now as well as reschedule two secretary of state appointments because their “4 business to clear a cashiers check” has now turned in to a week. I’ve called everyday after on and after the 4th day and they “understand the urgency” and change absolutely nothing. Typical bank, can get you a loan in 15 minutes but once you are of no value to them, why the rush? I will never finance through them again. They pride themselves on having no physical location but trying to sell a vehicle becomes a month long ordeal BECAUSE they have no locations. It is not helpful, they are not helpful, I’d rather take the bus than finance through Ally again.

terrible company, charge whatever interest they feel like and NOT the fixed rate I was approved for. Also, getting negative reports on my credit report saying balance increased when there is no possible way my car loan can increase when it is paid on time every month. SCAM of a bank.

Ally you have given me options to get rid of the vehicle for which i did i sold it to a dealer with dealer buy off option and yet you re showing me due how is that possible!! I mean are n’t we allowed to choose our own vehicle and you charge your customer’s disposition fee i mean what is that!!! I tried to buyout the vehicle i which you wanted me to pay 12000$ just to come out of the lease that too in the time where the whole is world is experiencing crisis ohh my god stay minimum 60 meters away from this company this is a joke!!!

Just a FYI for all of you people in Google land. Do not use Ally auto for your car loans. They are quick to get your deal done. But when it comes to payoff. They are horrible. Three weeks after and still waiting for my payoff letter and lien release. Their answer is a few more days and check again. No time table no remorse no sense of urgency. Avoid them at all costs.
