Kristi Spears was AMAZING!! She was very communicative, always staying in contact with me through the entire process. Extremely knowledgeable and so good to work with. Night and day difference from the last lender we worked with who we actually left to work with her. She was also a much more pleasant experience compared to when we last purchased a house many years back. When I first gave this 5 stars I hadn’t had the opportunity to give it the rating it deserves. This place has been phenomenal. Kari-Ann is an exceptional loan officer, and I would recommend her to anyone looking to buy. She goes out of her way to respond to anything you could possibly ask, at any time of day or night. I often had to wonder if they at academy ever get time off 🙂. I truly recommend academy over any of the other available lenders, and if you get the chance, I recommend asking for Kari-Ann. I am sure their other employees are just as exceptional, however my experience was with whom I recommend.

Karla is a rockstar! My husband and I are first time home buyers. Walking into this process we were terrified. She made this process so easy and smooth and put both of our minds at ease! She was always available to help with any questions and concerns we had. Whether it was after hours, days off or even when she was on vacation! I will recommend her to anyone who needs help going through this process! We look forward to working with her again in the future!

We used Academy for a construction loan when building a new house and we had a less-than-ideal experience. Kristi is exceptionally unorganized and was often late for our appointments. Once she tried to leave the office 5 minutes before our scheduled appointment so that she could attend a closing across town. We were lucky that she decided otherwise when she realized we would be sitting there waiting on her. Academy frequently made mistakes but somehow it was never their fault. They did not apologize when things went wrong or take responsibility. We were set up to do a one-time close and when the investors decided weeks later that they weren’t willing to approve it we had to start all over to do a two-time close. This held up the building process another month if not more and it is something an experienced person like Kristi should have known would happen when lending to a newer builder. In the end of the whole process when we went to close on the mortgage (using a different bank because we were fed up with Academy and because their interest rates were a full percent higher) we were overcharged by $2,000 for no reason. Our title company caught the error and thankfully had it corrected for us. Academy also tried to charge us for pictures they supposedly came to take during the building process that we know no one ever came to the site for because they had us sending pictures to them. I would have only given them one star but I added a second because I do appreciate that they eventually financed our build even if it was quite a hassle to do so.

Karla Martin and her team at Academy Mortgage were amazing to work with. They are very responsive, personable and really make you feel like a priority. She was always one step ahead and making sure things were moving along. I would recommend her to anyone looking to buy or sell their home. Karla will take care of you and your best interests all the way and has an excellent staff support team to help out as well. Thank you Academy!!

Academy Mortgage just helped me purchase my new home. I am thrilled with how well they communicated with me throughout the entire process. Karla made sure that I understood exactly what I needed to do and was always available to answer any of my questions.
