1st MidAmerica Credit Union College Ave, Alton

This credit union needs to be audited. They offer NO loans to qualified minorities. If your white they will approve you with a 550 the same day. If you are black with a 700 they will have to call you back after 72 hours and still deny you. Their entire staff with multiple locations are whites only! This should be investigated.

They are closed Why do we have to hit a number to tell me when you open. I am pulling my account asap You stay where your are Thanks to you all never again

I chose this credit union when I moved to Alton because of the number of branches, expecting convenience. However, I soon found out that this institution does not go out of its way for anyone. When I put my money into a bank or credit union, I expect them to help me in every reasonable way. Even when I offered to guarantee a two party check with my funds, and have the amount of the check held as well as the credit for the check itself, they would not process the check. The two parties were a major bank and an insurance company. I have changed to Laclede.

Their drive thru tellers are extremely rude. We sat in line for over 20 minutes.

This was the first account I had ever opened, back when this was Olin Credit Union. Since then, they've changed to 1st MidAmerica and their service and online banking has been abysmal since. For over 10 years, they've put zero effort into updating their online interface, which looks like it's from the 90's. The fact that their passwords can't even allow special characters should speak to how up-to-date their system is. They started withdrawing dormant fees from my account without any notification. The only way to close the account was to submit a written letter, upon which I asked for all necessary info that needed to be included, which they couldn't get right the first time either, requiring me to send an additional letter. Would not recommend in any way.

Will not give you transaction slips. They make you yell your acount number through the speaker and everyone in line can hear it. Then tellers ask you what you want to do with your money, so again everyone around can hear your detailed balances .Makes feel vulnerable and uncomfortable

I have had first mid America for three years now after from switching from bank of America they are very nice, polite and professional! Overall great banking expierence
