USF Federal Credit Union Reviews

Why is this bank almost 5 miles from the campus it represents now? The move places the bank out in no where land unless you work in telecom park. Another move from USF not caring about its constituents.
Hi Walter - Our main branch, which was formerly on USF Palm Drive, is 2.8 miles from campus, at 7037 E. Fletcher Ave. The location offers convenient access, plenty of parking and a speedy drive-thru. We also have a branch in the USF Marshall Student Center. We hope you visit us soon!

I am baffled by all the negative reviews! I came to USFCU maybe 7 years ago to see if I could get a personal loan to get out of a time share. They went over my finances with me and not only got me the personal loan at a great rate but told me I could save more $ by refinancing my car with them. So I opened a checking and savings account. Three years later I had to get a new car and they preapproved me AND helped me shop for a new car. When I was looking to buy a house they talked me through the mortgage process and was giving me pointers of how best to buy even if I didn't do my mortgage with them. I've also opened a credit card with them and that process was fast and easy to do. And then recently applied for a personal loan and they called me the same day annnnnd we also followed up via text messages. They have always been fast, responsive, communicative, and provide me with guidance on everything. I at one time was getting $5/month charges because they said statements were being returned as wrong address but they reversed the charges when I called. A friend said he had issues with his account years ago so I emailed the person who helped me with my credit card application and he immediately passed me on to the correct person who helped my friend get his account back open. They are a blessing, I've never had a bad experience with anyone I've interacted with from USFCU!

Absolutely worst banking experience of my entire life. I’ve been trying for days to get ahold of someone about how to access my member number just so that I can pay my auto loan. The “welcome letter” I received didn’t not contain that information. I’ve called and listened to the horrible on hold music for 45+ minutes every time I call. I've emailed the support service and no one gets back to me. This is absurd.

Terrible guidance! I once requested a credit card and they approved it and did not called me or notify me. Due lack of usage they closed the credit card damaging my credit score. Then they gave me two credit card and later on blame me that i could have two credit cards at the same bank like if i was the one who approve it. If you are a student starting with credit cards and need guidance do not come here.
Hello - Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear you had an unpleasant experience. Please send your contact information to [email protected] and a member of our management team will follow-up with you to discuss your concerns. Thank you.

I just left the doctor with my disable daughter today, and the nice African American teller and Susan Fitzgerald went over and beyond to accommodate her by providing services outside to my vehicle. I thank you ladies for your understanding and OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Grossly incompetent. Very small daily/monthly transfer limits, on hold for hours, and they have no idea how to do an international wire transfer. This bank is a complete liability and you should put your money in Chase or BoA.
Hello: Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. A member of our management team would like to give you a call to discuss your concerns. Please email your full name along with a phone number to [email protected]. We look forward to speaking with you soon.

Summary: Avoid this credit union - it will ultimately let you down and rip you off with fees. I expected this type of behavior from Wells Fargo and Bank of America, and I was disappointed that USF would succumb to similar behavior. I have been a customer for over two decades because it was convenient (despite the interest rates always being subpar), but I recently shut down my accounts after being irreparably outraged. Sob story/Issue: The USF Credit Union started charging me a "bad address fee" per month since their system tried to send me spam mailers that were returned. All my other banks and credit card companies never dared to charge me any sort of fee for this. This went on unbeknownst to me, but knownst to them, for a long period of time. When I tried to rectify the situation, they gave me the runaround (3-4 separate phone calls over a week, never once actually speaking directly with the manager). Conclusion: Take your money elsewhere. Best believe.
Hello - Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. You are correct, we do have a bad address fee in the amount of $5 per month. That fee applies when postal mail is returned to us. When accounts are flagged as having an incorrect address, members receive an email alert with a request to update their address by phone or online banking. We will typically waive this fee for up to 3 months as a one-time courtesy. If you have any additional questions, please email your contact information to [email protected] and we'll be in touch. Thank you for your previous membership and we hope you'll reconsider a relationship with us in the future.

If you are looking for a personal loan, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. In the nearly 2 month process it took to get an offer, my wife and I were met with weeks at a time of no communication. They would ask for a piece of documentation via email (which did not feel like a secure way of transferring these documents), then radio silence for weeks (despite constant follow ups), then they would ask for another piece of documentation. I am surprised they didn’t ask for all the documentation they needed up front with the initial loan application, or in my initial email from them. After the 2 month mark, I received a call from one of USF FCU’s team leads where they explained the terms of the loan. The terms at that time seemed reasonable and I was willing to give them a second chance. However, when I received my documents to sign, not only were there several spaces of missing information, it had the incorrect terms that we had discussed, which was frustrating. I got another call from the same team lead apologizing for the error and they said they would send an updated document shortly after. I then received an updated document with an interest rate that was almost double what we had discussed, which was unacceptable. The team lead did offer to correct the documents again, but my wife and I decided to cancel as we felt uncomfortable pursing the loan giving the lack of communication, untimely process, and repeat errors we encountered. I think there’s a lot that USF FCU can do to improve this process. Until then, I recommend you take your business elsewhere.
Hi Mitchell - Thank you for bringing this to our attention and please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you. What happened is unacceptable. We have already used this as a coaching opportunity for the employee you were working with, as well as expressed more clear expectations on handling applications. Our Director of Member Engagement would like to personally apologize for this situation and do whatever we can to restore your trust in USF FCU. He called the phone number we have associated with your account this afternoon and was unable to reach you. He will try calling you again tomorrow. Again, please accept our apologies and we hope you'll allow us to earn your trust again. If there's a different phone number you'd prefer we use to reach you, please email us at [email protected]. Thank you for being a member of USF FCU.

Do not take a loan with them if it's an option! Every month there is a new fee 🤬 they are charging me a bad address fee when I don't even get statements. Bad business.

** Edit Below** It’s not so much as the place as the system. I had no clue I was getting a loan through them. Nissan told me I was financing through them. This place may have financed me, at a decent rate. I absolutely hate their system though. They never contact me to talk about any issues with my account. Bothering me about insurance I’ve had on my car since I got it and have already given them the information, when I got it. I have to show up to a location to pay them, they can’t seem to have their websites or apps working which they said I could use the app but they are wrong. It’s not on there at all, after I downloaded the app. Hate having a loan out with this place and plan to refinance ASAP. Will never use them again. EDIT: Originally I had rated this with a single star because I was frustrated with a few things. I received a phone call from a customer rep named Gillian, she was wonderful. Cleared up all of my issues. We found the common root of the issue and now that all is addressed with the company I am much happier because the way it was handled and feel much better having my business done with this company. Thanks Gillian, your knowledge and desire to help is very much appreciated.
Hi Jimmy - Thank you bringing your concerns to our attention. We're so glad that Gillian was able to resolve your issues and are grateful to have you as a member of our credit union. Should you ever need anything in the future, please don't hesitate to call Gillian directly, or reach out to us at 813.569.2000. We look forward to continue building our relationship with you. First of all I have to say that I am very grateful for the help offered by USF for the purchase of a car. For approximately 3 years we have been fulfilling the payments in the established contract. This payment has been made from Bank of America in an authentic way during these years without interruptions. Unfortunately, in August of last year there was a delay in the payment from the Bank of America. The last month during the process of buying a house we were informed about the USF report in the credit bureau, because we didn’t have knowledge of the problem. We asked for USF help. We made an appointment and they informed us that they needed the statements of accounts for the year 2020 to define the responsibility for non-compliance. In the statement of account it was shown that there were sufficient funds throughout the year 2020, even payments for USF came out of the account 14 times. After waiting 4 weeks for the result of the USF investigation, we were informed by the official Balesca and her supervisor that they could not help us with the repair of the damage to my credit due to the USF report to the bureau. We were reported as defaulters, despite showing that we were not responsible for the default. Due to some problems Bank of America did not transfer the necessary payments in the established time, something that hadn't happened in more than two years. The USF informed us that they couldn’t issue a note to explain the reason for the damage to the credit, leaving us in an unfavorable situation in front of any bank management for a situation between banking institutions. I would be grateful if you could analyze these cases and take the necessary measures to restore confidence in banking institutions, does it seem fair that customers are harmed by the credit bureau due to mismanagement among banks?. I always felt very safe with you, but at the moment it’s not like that, Who guarantees me that this will not happen again?. I hope that you can help me. Thank you, Manuel Montaves Reyes.
Hello - Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m surprised with the negative reviews, I’ve had the best experiences with this credit union. Got my first car loan years ago from them, they were super helpful and I got an amazing rate on my loan. Now doing a home loan through them and their hone advantage program and again, SUPER helpful and again, an amazing loan rate! My direct deposit always deposits a day early with them vs my Bank of America account too... i don’t use them as my every day bank, mostly as a loan provider. So, perhaps that’s why I’ve had such a great experience with them vs others.
Hi Brette - Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with us. We're looking forward to closing on your home loan and will be here to help with all your future financial needs. Thanks for being a member of USF FCU.

I cannot WAIT to pay off my credit card and close my account with this horrendous banking system. I chose USF Credit Union because I am an alumni; business with them has been nothing but a headache and I’ve only been with them for a few months. The app is extremely outdated and takes days to update. If you have a credit card with them, it apparently is a third party and USF Credit employees can’t even transfer you to talk to them. DON’T deal with them, save your time and sanity. I’ve had problems with them from the beginning, and now they are saying that they had never received a recent payment I made to them, even though I had been making payments in this method many times before?? The money had already been taken out of my other institution and issued to them... Please read the negative reviews and don’t ignore them. This is a horrible company.

February 18th and February 19th I went to two ATMs to do a cash deposit both times the ATM's were down this is causing me issues with my account not to mention you moved way out of the way from USF wasting time money and gas to drive out here, and you don't have another one like you did at the old Branch seems like USF is going downhill been with you for like 20 years, no one answers the phone and helps their customers any more. I waited 3 hours for someone to call me. I'm getting tired of it the only good thing you have going is my direct deposit. But other Banks can do that. This is a real inconvenience lately seems like USF is getting more and more issues, or they really don't care. Update...Wow I finally I found an ATM that worked all the way out at Cross Creek this is a lot of driving just to do business with my bank. Hopefully these issues start straightening out especially when you call and you can't get a hold of no one when did this day start don't blame it on covid everybody does!!! Has nothing to do with it. How about opening a new branch closer to Florida avenue and bears I think there's an empty bank there that's not being used.
Hi Lawrence - Sorry to hear about the issues you were experiencing with the ATM. All ATMs are functioning at this time. You can always find an up-to-date list of branches and ATMs on our website. If you have any additional concerns, please email us at [email protected]. Thank you for being a member of USF FCU.

This is a dumpster fire that probably compares very closely with any current Russian bank. Truthfully, one of the worst banking experiences a human could have outside of Russia. I have been trying to help my son on his car loan. I call the number and try extensions suggested on the letter he was sent. It simply made the AI rep speak Spanish. Then, when he does get through, they ping pong him back and forth between departments. The left hand doesn't communicate or even know the right hand here. You wait for an endless amount of time on hold, then get told to place yourself in a queue to have them call you back. If lucky, you get called back an hour later to get rude representatives who really do not know what they are doing sending calls to different departments. The last time this happened, I got hung up on, resetting the process. If a car dealer tries to stick you with a loan from USFCU, try to refuse it. Otherwise, expect to be treated badly. This is by far the worst credit union I have ever dealt with. I frankly think he should stop paying on the loan, turn in the keys and let USFCU absorb the loss. But, he is trying to be reasonable while the credit union is not.

After i was a costumer for 3 years. We send proof of insurance to them and then would forward that to allied. Well allied never verified neithe USF the insurance a d for 3 years they added to my loan 16,000 dollars without a notice. I try to sell the truck that was in excellent condition and the offer me 18000 and when i ask for the pay off they told me 37,700 dollars. Where did all the money i paid went. When the original loan was 27,000. Not a good company to do business with.

Epitome of inefficiency. Called there before going and told me only to bring one document but as a precaution took everything. Went there at 3:00 PM and took us around 45 minutes to get to somebody despite the fact that we were the only people there at that time. Then had to wait good 45 minutes to make sure that somebody looked onto our application. And ultimately they declined without valid reasoning. AVOID, NOT RECOMMENDED IN ANY WAY !

This is the most difficult company I've ever dealt with to make a payment. Their website fails to contact my bank account, waiting for someone who can help on the phone is equal to a slow death and I can tell when the call is picked up and placed back on hold. I can't make payments over the phone on mybown either. As soon as I can refinance my car I'm out of here. HORRIBLE.

Unreliable customer service. 2.5 hours to talk to someone about missing money from my account. Calls being hung up on multiple time. Maybe I should just discontinue using as service. When I first opened account everything was great but now….

One word comes to mind trash! I’ve been a member for over 20 yrs and have only kept it for that reason at this point but the stress isn’t worth it. Fees (thousands)being added to my loan for auto insurance. Although insurance is already paid in full Annually. Then lied to about turnaround to correct. 2-5 days turned to 7-10 then on the 11th day after being ignored and having to call receiving a message I can’t reply to now saying 4-6 weeks. TRASH! Ignore the below from USF it’s all show. I had to look at BBB after these constant, unnecessary and prolonged issues. It’s not pretty. I won’t recommend this place I wish it could me no Stars!

USFFCU needs to be audited. The incompetence is inexcusable. At almost every level of service, there are issues. The current issue I am having with their services, is they are not currently reporting my personal loan and credit card activity to Experian which dropped my score by 20 points! I requested that they also remove the USFFCU inquiries since my information with their institution was incomplete. This request was denied and I was blocked from replying. USFFCU’s lack of reporting credit information is equivalent to reporting incorrect information and therefore, all information should be removed until they can report their customers’ information correctly. Consumers beware when dealing with this institution.
Hello - Thank you for sharing this with us and we apologize for any inconvenience you have been caused. Our management team has reviewed your account and will be contacting you soon. You will be contacted via phone but if you prefer, you may email us at [email protected]. Thank you.

Great experience with recent car finance purchase and new credit card offer- Andrea answered all my questions and has been super helpful through out the process. A++ experience all the way !!

The ATM stole my money! Beware if you are making a deposit the ATM will give you an error, NOT give you your money back or deposit it into your account. I contacted the bank and I still dont have my money back! This is a horrible situation if you are counting on that money to be in the account and the ATM just steals it and the bank doesnt refund it. What is wrong with this bank?
Hi Jessica - So sorry to hear about your frustration! Our Member Services Manager confirmed that she has been in contact with you. Two of your deposits posted properly this morning, and your account has been credited for the third deposit. We are servicing the ATM shortly. Thank you for being a member of the credit union, and we apologize for this inconvenience.

Amazing customer service, I had an issue with my credit card and credit report and I not only had everything resolved, it was resolved in the same day. Sandy Wigington the director of risk management, Chip Sims the manager of resolutions, and Deborah Clark the chief Marketing Officer/SVP all deserve a separate 5 star rating. USF Federal Credit Union really values their members, evident by their amazing directors and mangers. Amazing customer service starts from the top down, and I really feel how much they care. Sandy Wigington said to me and I quote "We pride ourselves in providing member service excellence because we value our members and hope to make a difference in their lives" and they really do. I have a checking, saving, credit card, and a car loan though them and I will be opening up a mortgage with them as well. All in all, just know that if you have an issue, USF Federal Credit Union has got you covered.
Hi Bruce - Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We look forward to serving you for many years to come.
