Unity National Bank - Blodgett Blodgett St, Houston

Had an issue with my online account password and recovery email and when calling the associate at the Blodgett location I was given help with much ease. I was frustrated to a great extent about my situation and was easily guided and given the proper information as to how to recover what was needed. That customer service was immaculate!

I'm sad that I'm leaving a negative review because I support what the bank stands for but I've only had one positive experience here (in 4 months) and that was a lady going above and beyond to help me with something as simple as opening a checking account. It took over a week. Nobody EVER answers the phones and good luck getting a callback. Outside of that, technology isn't on par with other banks. If you just want to put your money somewhere, this is for you. If you want to actually use it, this is not.

I tried to support this bank (for 3 years and 4 months) but can no longer back a bank with outdated services, poor customer service, routine technical issues and no 24/7 customer care line to call. The overall idea of this bank is great but you sacrifice a lot of "basic" bank amenities, or so have you. Now, if I were to see that they were actively trying to improve, I would not be so harsh but after my personal experience I see no effort to change. No thank you! I do wish them the best though, I just can't be apart of this.

I feel Unity Bank is a Family!!! I really appreciate Angela (Customer Service Manager) & Linda going out of their way to assist me during my time of need. The staff are very professional, accommodating, and thoughtful! During this quarantine, we were in the midst of traveling. The areas we were going to visit were closed or being barracaded. The hotels we had reserved were being cancelled on us. So we decided to stay put where we were until things rolled over. But we could not access our funds, and this amazing bank were able to wire the money from my Savings into another bank checking account, so we could stay put. We will travel home when things cleared up. This eliminated much stress. We have our vehicle (so no flying back the thousand+ miles) and we a family of 8. So this helped us tremendously. Thank you😍

I don't know what happened but the customer service has gone down. I hate to even leave a bad review, but listen to the other reviews regarding customer service and outdated procedures. Kreayshawn and Regina are awesome even Yolanda is great. But I have had some recent interactions with some people that work there including Jeanetta that has really turned me off. I am truly embarrassed by the poor service recently. I have been a member for a few years now since moving to Houston and was extremely proud but recently, it has convinced me to no longer make deposits or open any new personal or business accounts here.

They need to so some serious updates. No one ever answers the phone. I don't drive so I need to make payments online but you can't if you aren't a member this credit union is pretty old school.

I recently had an issue with my account but from the moment I called to the point of my arrival, I was treated with excellent customer service. I have had my account for a few years now. Initially, I opened it to help further minority banks and I am glad to have done so. Although they don’t have many services like their competitors, they are continuously making improvements and I have seen the growth. I want to thank Ashley Martin once again for her assistance in fixing my account situation so promptly. I will continue to bank with Unity bank for as long as I can. I know they will continue to grow and display great customer service.

SBA gave me their information to process a PPP loan 1 full week before the deadline. I submitted all the paperwork and they waited over a week to call me back and to tell me they aren't working PPP loans anymore. Here was their response " Unfortunately, due to the popularity, volume, and immense need we were unable to process your application prior to the SBA closing its portal". So basically they delayed a week without communicating and then said the deadline had been missed. What kind of bank is this? This is helping people during the most difficult times get back on their feet? A big no thanks for being there through COVID for everyone! Horrible customer service. Which tells me that bank has a leadership problem at the top.

I called the Bank to get information on services they offered and received outstanding service from Ashley. I greatly appreciated her professionalism and how she told me what she can do for me instead of what she can't do. There are so many businesses out there that are focused on saying no to everything that they miss the opportunity to help people. Ashley took great care of me and gave great advice!

To all the idiots posting negatively about the banking experience based on things you yourselves are responsible for...you didn't get the purpose of opening an account with a black owned bank. My experience hasn't been perfect but I remain loyal because THEY NEED US! Quit expecting to be spoon fed by your people. I love the service overall and look forward to maintaining a great relationship with my bank.
