UFCU Reviews
K
Excuse the emotional tone, but imagine yourself in the same situation. Here is what I wrote to in review to UFCU after finally getting access to my deceased husbands funds (7 months after he passed away): "The person I spoke to at the bank location when I walked in was fabulous. BUT the hassle (and callousness) that UFCU put me through, despite having supplied all legal documents pertinent to probate entitling me to take possession of my deceased husband's funds was unconscionable, and I am left with an extremely negative feeling about ufcu. UFCU required me to fly in from ASIA, where I had been with friends recovering from the trauma of my husband's death, to walk into the bank personally -even though I also have accounts at UFCU myself. In addition, when I was newly widowed and called the bank about what to do, I was treated HORRIBLY by the UFCU employees to whom I spoke. There seemed to be no protocol for speaking sensitively to the bereaved (who can also be alarmed about finances at a time when they are *also* grieving) inquiring about what will need to take place to use bank accounts. The procedure was 1) freeze the accounts (which the bereaved may not understand is going to happen) 2) answer phone calls with NO kind words about the situation and basically "nuttin' we can do, lady". When in my confuson and fear, I asked, "Well, what do people in my situation usually do to handle this banking transition?" I got the "nuttin', we can do we don't care attitude, I asked about a loan, was given to a loan officer who AGAIN almost laughed at me. He could have still turned me down for the loan but been trained in handling bereaved UFCU members. He simply could have been prepared with a kind remark. Instead I was treated like a unqualified fool asking for a loan. I am not exaggerating; he made a noise of disdain, even though we had [a huge amount of money} nearly half a million in UFCU because I didn't have a job at the time. All he needed was training in : sometimes members will have family member die and they will phone to ask what they can do to access funds or manage. Give them a couple of canned sentences about how to explain that "This money cant be unfrozen and we are so sorry we can't be of more help to you at this difficult time." My husband kept {a huge amount of money]in his various checking and savings accounts for about 20 years with UFCU. This was an appalling and frightening experience for me which a little training could have ameliorated for me. UFCU must have customers pass away regularly. How could UFCU possibly have handled this so horrifically? " Furthermore, if you are considering using UFCU, when we were out of state and needing to buy a car during my husband's medical treatment, and went into a "sister credit union" to withdraw funds, we found out that the other credit unions are NOT like "branches". Any money they "give" you is AT THEIR DISCRETION. We only succeeded in getting the money to buy they car (FROM OUR OWN FUNDS) because the manager at the "sister credit union" was kind and found us credible. We are older folks and he "trusted us", so we got OUR money. But we were not in any way entitled to withdraw our funds from an out of state credit union like we thought we were.
First and foremost, Katherine, we would like to extend our sincerest condolences on the loss of your husband. We understand how hard it is to lose a loved one, and we wish you peace and strength during this time. Also, we appreciate your time to review us and bring this matter to our attention. We have specific policies and procedures that must adhere to federal and state laws when handling these situations, and every situation is unique. However, with that being said, we genuinely apologize that we failed to address your request with utmost care. Our mission is to provide our members with exceptional and caring service, and we know we can do better if given another opportunity. Someone from our management team will be in contact with you regarding this situation. Again, we thank you for your membership, and we hope to speak with you soon.

This is my GO TO branch of UFCU. It’s usually pretty quiet if you avoid the college crowds and they are very friendly and helpful! I have extremely great rates on my credit card and my auto loan thru them! But I think the best part is being able to actually talk to a teller in person! Oh wait, the second best part is they definitely have foxes of every age in there from red to silver! 🤪

Worst bank ever. I try constantly contacting them about my horrible rates with car insurance and mainly my interest rate which is astronomical which they seem to always ignore. I feel as thought I am on a blacklist. Of course, not when 1 day late or 1penny missing from their monthly bills that continue to eat away at my funds. I used to do all my banking with them and were curteous and helpful and friendly. Not anymore. Better going with the convience of Chase or wells fargo, or even better, a true credit union. Instead of a wolf in sheeps clothing like UFCU has become last few years. Too much success = customers lose. Too bad.

Love it. I have bank accounts here and at one other local credit union and because UFCU is (or at least was) a member of the CU Service Center shared branch I was able to withdraw funds from that other credit union and deposit funds to it from the UFCU. I thought, for a while, this was par for the course for credit unions but apparently it is not as the other credit union I have does not let you do the same. I mean, you can effectively make withdraws from one account by depositing or cashing a check from that account but you can't make deposits normally and that wastes a check, too, and requires you have the balance of the check in your checking account too. Also, I got two consecutively numbered $100.00 bills from here once lol.

The professionals at UFCU have always been very helpful to me and my family. I appreciate their care and the excellent financial services. We have gotten low interest loans for vehicles and have a mortgage. They come through for us with any financial need we have that they offer.
Thank you for your review Gloria!

I have been working with UFCU for the past six years and I am very happy to be working with them. This location is a wonderful spot.

Tellers are friendly and helpful. We have an out-of-state c.u. and they are so convenient when we need to deposit or withdraw. Apparently, A+ C.U. no longer offers this service to members of other credit unions. 😕😤 The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the difficulty in finding parking. I would give them 4.8 stars if I could.
Hi David, We are thrilled to hear we are of service to you. Yes, it can be difficult to land a good parking spot in front of our University location. However, we do offer garage parking located behind the building in the University Co-Op parking lot on San Antonio St between 22nd and 23rd. Staff will validate your parking ticket when you walk into our branch.

The go-to place for UT gear. All types of longhorn items. The clothes are overpriced. Recommend going to the Co-op outlet next door first to make sure they don't have what you are looking for. The prices there are dirt cheap!
