UCFS - United Consumer Financial Services Reviews

I have spoken to 2 people since originally using UCFS. The customer service is night and day! I actually have never seen such good customer service from a place you pay bills to. They are actually very helpful and considerate. The first person I spoke to recently, I thought was a one-off and I just got lucky. I had to call back a second time and that person was not the same, but also just as helpful. It really makes a difference when you are trying to pay bills but life comes at you like 2020. Keep up the excellent customer service, UCFS! Thank you!

    Response from the owner

Thank you Tosha for your review! So glad you had a good experience.

I'm grateful for all these reviews. I was considering this company to finance a purchase, but I will definitely not now. I don't need the headache of tanking my credit score, being transferred a million times by customer service or random new balances being tacked on for unexplained reasons. Thanks

    Response from the owner

Hi Stephanie - so sorry to see your review. And, am I reading this right - you are not a customer? You are basing your review on other reviews? UCFS has hundreds of thousands of consumer customers. There are always some who do not make payments and then complain about fees because of non-payment, call us to try to reach different representatives to see if they can obtain a different answer, ask to push out their due dates by many months. For our customers who make their payments over perhaps a 24 or 36-month term - as they committed to when they signed their contract - they are very happy and thankful for UCFS so they could obtain their service or product right away, not having to outlay a large lump sum or placing the full purchase amount on a credit card with higher fees. I'm sorry for your first impression because of a few unhappy consumers.

This company has provided a less than positive experience. If I could give zero stars, I would. The interest rates are astronomical to start with. Second, during COVID my husband lost his job and my hours were cut so I missed a few payments. I reached out to them via their messaging option on the website to inquire about the COVID relief options they were offering. They responded only to say they couldn't reach me by phone but provided no options or information. When I finally was able to get in touch with someone I was told that I had missed the window for the COVID relief and would have to enter into a "Re-aging Program" that would allow me to get back on track and bring my account current and that if I made 4 on-time payments my account would then re-age and show all positive history. Wrong. I made the payments and continued to do so, but they continued to report my account as 120+ past due to all 3 bureaus and tank my score over 100pts. Fast forward 14 months, all payments made on time, they refuse to remove the COVID late payments and its still affecting my credit. Lenders were not supposed to report delinquent during the pandemic if COVID relief was requested. They did and continue to do so. I was also promised that under the re-age program that 50% of my late fees would be credited back to my account; they reversed 2 late fees. In addition, I noticed today that my account balance is going UP not DOWN as it should be. On 4/1/2022 my balance was $1986.16 but somehow today (10 days later) its now $2206.16. How does that happen?? I have reached out to them for written explanation but will likely get some fictitious "justification". I will be so happy to have them paid off. I will be closely monitoring my account for the remaining payments I have and I looking into how to report them for violations of the TILA and CARES Act for the reporting during the pandemic, the errors in my balance and the lack of follow-through on the guidelines they provided to me regarding their "Re-age Program" . This place is a total scam. STAY AWAY!

For 3 months in a row we have received double or triple charges from auto pay. We've never received a reason and have been told that the problem has been resolved many times only to have have the same problem the next month. We've been told we'd have a refund within 24-48 hrs and it takes closer to a month. Absolutely a joke never would have bought a Kirby Vacuum if we knew this was going to be the issue. We also are repeatedly hung up on while waiting for automated menus. BUYER BEWARE

This company is trying to collect money from a product that I sent a Cancelation notice months ago that I don't even have any more. I am not paying them for a product that do not have any more. Makes absolutely no sense, The minute I try to reach out to this company they ignore me lovely..........

    Response from the owner

Hi Corrin - If you returned the product and submitted the cancellation notice, sounds like the company from whom you made your purchase just has not made us aware of this situation. If you call back to our customer service department, ask for a supervisor and they should be able to clear this up. Or, you can contact the company to whom you returned your item, and they can let us know. So sorry for this situation.

Do not get involved with United Consumer Financial Services. Their customer service is very poor. They do not call back. They make all kinds of promises and deliver nothing. I have requested several times for a copy of my file. Never received. If you're late one time they terminate their services, report you to credit bureaus as a charge off and receive their money back from the original creditors. The Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Protection Agency as well as their Attorney General are all familiar with the company name. I personally have had to use these agency's to assist in getting my $3000.00 refunded. Neither United Consumer or Taxrise will voluntarily cooperate in correcting their bad business dealings. They both are listed under Deceptive Trade Violations, Fraud and Bad Faith complaints.

I went to tax rise and United consumer financial for help on my IRS balance. I did not get any relief on my taxes at all. They did not get my balance dropped at all. The only thing I got was another bill which was for the united financial. I got absolutely no help what so ever. For anybody that wants to use this company my suggestion is don't these companies are a scam

    Response from the owner

Hi Marianne – Although we cannot locate you by your name in our records, we have forwarded your post to Tax Rise. Perhaps you can contact Tax Rise directly? We want to be proactive on this, but it’s not possible without speaking with you. If you want to contact UCFS, our customer service team can be reached at 800-338-6507. Please understand that Tax Rise and UCFS are two completely separate companies. Tax Rise is a business customer of UCFS, offering consumer financing, so businesses can help consumers cover the cost of their needed service or product.

I'd give Zero stars if it would let me. My family was impacted by covid multiple times..made an agreement to pay balance up or pay off depending on tax return amount. Let them knwo when i filed my taxes gave them my updayes from the irs etc. Ibstayed in contact. I was told id get a call at the first of this month to see if I got my taxes finaally which didn5 happen. Charged of my account on may 31st. The irsHeld my return until now. They called me while I was at work multiple times and almost got me fired. The phones are recorded.. well I got my taxes finally today. Your not getting a penny off me now. Already spoke to my lawyer and the local judge.. if the phones are recorded like you claim they are you breached an oral agreement... just incase that's a lie I recorded all of our conversations. To make thing sworse the disrespectful lady on the phone was rude said I had t9 call back before 5 yet business hours say otherwise... I work 8-5 Monday through Friday. Call after 5 or on Saturday during posted hours I he told to call back before 5 Monday thru Friday by some one who answers..

First let’s start with the Kibry business in Vista Ca. This business is absolutely garbage, from the manager to the actual sales persons they are liars, and completely don’t tell the full truth about anything or the contracts but do schemes just for a sale. Now let’s start on this stupid consumer business they are so unintelligent, unreliable, and thief's. This business is so sneaky they only use debt cards not credit cards or any other forms of payments because they deem it be invalid for their reasonings. When I paid the stupid huge Kirby vacuum off ucfs sends me letters like this one stating how it might not be paid in full even tho I have proof and documentation of my account being closed out. Also the phone clerk Ryan is extremely rude and I don’t understand how she has a job because she’s so rude and doesn’t do anything to truly assist the customer. It’s amazing how both these companies work together so garbage and both needs to do better.

    Response from the owner

Hi Ashley - So sorry for your experience with Kirby and with UCFS. UCFS is not affiliated with Kirby businesses, they are a customer of UCFS. For consumers who want to make a purchase, our business customers offer low monthly payments from UCFS. Sounds like you didn't want to make a purchase, but did. UCFS DOES accept credit card and debit card payments as well as bank payments. UCFS payoff statements include a disclaimer, as required by law, about how it might not be paid in full, in case a consumer's payment bounces. We'll reach out to our customer service rep to better understand what happened.

They are still trying to collect money for a product I told them I NO LONGER HAVE!!!! I don't have the product and I told them this. I even have proof I don't have it!!!! I'm not paying for a product I don't have. I don't know what else to do to prove to guys that I do not have this product. I don't know why the company will not drop the case. I even have a voicemail from the gentleman that runs the store saying that he still has the product in his store. ..........

    Response from the owner

Hi Carrie - Your review shows you have proof/documentation that the product you purchased using UCFS financing has been returned to your merchant. Be sure to send that to our team so we can investigate. The business just hasn't told us yet. Call us at 800-338-6507 and ask for a supervisor. We'll get to the bottom of this situation!
