Refused to cash a government check on grounds that I do not have an account with an amount equal to the check. I have only ever had an HSA, and have never been questioned about cashing a check. Another reason I will not open any other account with them.

The ATM at this bank is frequently broken and is locally known to be unreliable. When I went to the main office to have my $400 refunded, the manager called the police and had me escorted from the property. The manager refused to speak to my bank and confirm that their ATM was broken. It took several months to recoup my stolen funds. There is a more reliable ATM at Visions Credit Union on Orchard St.

Great place to do your banking business

The Spencer branch of Tioga State Bank is the most unprofessional bank I’ve ever dealt with in over 30 years and in three different countries I’ve lived in. Every single time I deposited a cheque electronically they messed it up and cited bogus “policies.” They refused to remember my name even in the same conversation, physically took my phone out of my hands to try to sign into the app on it themselves, never responded to emails until I had to call their supervisors, and their technology is archaic. I couldn’t even electronically sign documents like I do with every other bank I’ve used in the last decade. They would mail them which would take almost a week, when it should’ve been done the same day. Every employee I interacted with there was rude, uninformed, and unapologetic about their shortcomings. Save yourself the hassle and switch to any other bank or credit union in the area.

Tioga State Bank is a great place to bank! Always been welcomed! They treat you like your a family member, not like a cooperate number! there has been times I hit hard times and this bank bent over backwards to help me out! Yes they do go by banking rules or they wouldn't be able to survive like they have. You need a loan or need a place to put your money, Tioga State Bank is a great place to go to!

I wouldn’t recommend anyone to have an account here , I sold my car to someone who banks there and he got a certified bank check and I was told I can’t cash the check because I’m not a member there. , I shouldn’t have to open an account just to get my money from selling my car , every branch has a different excuse not to cash it . That’s exactly why they have bad history ..I know a lot of people in the area and I will tell them to bank elsewhere !

Convenient if you are local, inconvienient if you are poor.
