Smart Financial Credit Union N Loop, Houston

So since Smart Financial seems to have deleted my first review, I thought I would repost with updated information. My debit card was misplaced on December 27, 2021 and reported when I went into the branch on 12/28/21 at which time another one was ordered with the expectation of 10-14 days. On 1/10/22, again I went into the branch and another one was ordered; however, the first one was not cancelled. I called in on 1/19/22 and was told that the card has been ordered on 1/10/22 and that was all the information that was available. I went to the branch on 1/21/22 because I still did not have access to my money (except during banking business hours, of which I also work on the other side of town). Again, the only resolution was to order another card. When questioned, the visiting manager stated he had no phone number to call the debit card company and his boss didn’t either. I left furious. On 1/22/22, after going into the branch to withdrawal funds, I was approached by Jeremy Johnson (Relationship Manager). I told him the history and he basically had no resolution other than to order another card. He stated that if I had a heart I wouldn’t post a review because this was a corporate issue and his staff’s merit raises were based on reviews. So he wasn’t in the least bit concerned about resolving the customer issue, just that his staff did not receive bad reviews. Stunned, I have no words for this lack of customer service on Smart Financial’s part.

I like the contemporary style of this credit union location on the North Loop West. The lobby is spacious and comfortable. The credit union staff is friendly and helpful. I like their paperless system of making cash and check deposits.

My husband and I usually come to Smart Financial Credit Union for any of our financial needs. Today we were helped out by Ms. Teresa. Teresa is very knowledgeable and we truly appreciated her patience as she walked us through our options.

I went to SFCU today to change my name on my account. I didn’t realize I needed an appointment to do so, but due to the awesome guy Dexter, who was outside working hard to keep every customer waiting happy and comfortable, I didn’t even care that I had to leave, go online (on my phone) and schedule an appointment to come back later in the day. This guy was dealing with a man screaming at the female bank teller for only allowing in a few customers at a time, (you know, doing her job properly to ensure everyone’s safety), helping people like me schedule appointments, running back and forth from the drive through teller line, sweating in his nice clothes and smiling and being kind and patient the entire time. Even to the rudest of people. The pandemic has pushed all of us to the edge of our patience at times with all of the changes in how we are accustomed to doing things. I do not like a lot of it, I can admit that. It can be very inconvenient at times, but I think it’s important to give credit where credit is due, especially to people that serve their community and clients with a true heart for caregiving. The staff at the North Loop location has always been stellar in my opinion. The drive is not convenient, the new hours and procedures aren’t great, but you know what? I’ll take great customer service over convenience any day. Keep up the good work: and Dexter...the world needs more people like you.

Teresa Barnard of Smart Financial Credit Union is an amazing Sr Relationship Specialist. She has always gone above and beyond with her stellar customer service..reflecting her vast knowledge of all Smart Financial products. Grateful for her wonderful customer service.
