They never answers the phone. I been on the line an hour waiting for someone to answer my call. Attitudes are horrible. They act like it's their money when your asking about your own or an account you need them to look up. Like stay home. I get it pandemic made everyone lazy. 🙄

I have been a member since I was a child. I have had an account with them for more than 25 years. The service has changed over the years especially when a lot of the other workers started retiring back in 2009 and later. I have contemplated many times about moving all of my money to another bank due to the length of time it takes to receive direct deposits, reaching someone sometimes, and amongst other reasons of seeing how it has changed over the years with service. I do like being a member with SCCU since I have had my account for so long. For anyone looking to open a bank account, below are my pros and cons: Pros: Decent rates for CDs and Savings accounts; they offer minor accounts if you have children; They have savings programs if you need it for things like holiday spending; online banking; easy to open an account and does not require a lot like other banks for money amounts; Cons: Online banking still needs updating; Hard to reach someone at times; direct deposit doesn't post early like my other bank that I use; if your debit card is compromised, they will make you close your whole bank account and open a new one vs just issuing a new debit card with a new number The bank is not all bad. They just need a little more updating with more friendlier people like how it used to be when I was younger. My review is based upon my experience, and once again the bank is not a bad bank. They have tried to improve their services, but they still need to work on the kinks to keep them competitive. Everyone's experience is different, and pick a bank based upon your needs due to all banks do not offer the same service or accounts.

They are way behind the times with technology which makes banking with them inconvenient. And like everyone else said, they never answer the phones in a timely manner. They also won't cash a check for you if you don't have the money to cover it in your account, instead they put your money on hold for 5 days or longer which can pose a problem for a lot of people. While this is understandable with personal checks, payroll checks should be an exception. The only reason I bank with them is for the free checking.

So out of date, unorganized & untrained. One person tell you one thing & another person tells you something totally opposite. Initially (8 years ago) I enjoyed banking there & now (since I relocated) everything is a hassle. Also, when I actually went into the credit union they were so dark, dry & unhappy. Lastly, having only 2 locations were inconvenient as well, even though they have co-op locations.

Excellent customer service. Phone calls to the CU are long wait time, but the staff will do everything possible to resolve your issues.

It amazing when your bankcard (debit) has been lost, stolen or compromised and you have to request a new card, it takes 7-10 to business days to get a new card at this bank/credit union. You can go to MOST bank institutions and they will replace the card the same day. Most people pay their bills through their bankcard (debit) and order things online with their bankcard (debit). Then when you call the credit union, someone may have an attitude or appears not to care about helping you. Whatever method they are using to take so long to get you a new card or print one, they should change it ASAP. Do we print anything anymore, OBSOLETE. I don't know exactly how it works, but it should not take 2 weeks. This is becoming a game changer for me. I have to really take this in consideration about staying with this institution. I'm really thinking about leaving this credit union. They probably don't care, because I'm just one customer. This is your money and you are the customer. Treat your customers like you want to be treated. Remember, until it affects you, then you will not understand how I feel. This is 2021 and it should not take 2 weeks to get a new bankcard (debit)card...

Been with Shelby County Employees CU since 2000. I've had numerous auto loans through them and two signature loans over the years. The value of long standing clients such as myself has fallen significantly. Applied for a $6500 loan to keep my credit score steady and make home improvements. I was denied due a $402 AT&T Mobility discrepancy on my credit report that was disputed and removed thanks to Lexington Law. At the time, my credit score was 718 with Trans Union and 763 with Equifax. Hadn't missed a payment across the board in any loan, in 18 years. The loan officer noticed that my vehicle was three payments shy of being paid off and said I qualified for another auto loan. I know that this is tmi but let my experience be your idea. On the very same phone call with the loan officer. She offered me a $30k to $40k auto loan but denied me $6500 for home improvements. Needless to say, I go on vacation in October. I will be closing my account when I do so. Try Navy Federal, Memphis City Employees CU or Orion CU...... Shelby County has lost what made them special. Hope that my review is beneficial.

I have been banking with the credit union since 1982. Find the staff to be friendly and helpful and respond back in a timely manner. Like the family like atmosphere. Which there were more branches.
