I love SDCCU and am pleased with everything except for a credit card that I applied for. This is the second time I apply for one and I don't get approved. I have an account with this bank, my credit score is good, I have a car loan with SDCCU and always make my payments on time. I would like to know the reason why I'm still not getting approved.

SDCCU is a good credit union but there is a problem. The parking structure at this location used to have 2 entrances, one on H street and the other on 3rd. Because of a new building the only entrance now is the one on 3rd avenue. If you want to visit the bank and you are driving west on H or north on 3rd there is no easy way to get in unless you drive north on 3rd several blocks and do a nasty U turn and then drive back. I now try to avoid this branch as much as possible to avoid this mess/.

Cynthia Valencia Cruz and the teller that helped me were extremely rude and unprofessional. The teller was upset because I asked to do additional withdrawal from my account. I may be wrong but the customer may withdraw whatever amount they may like. I explained to them I was traveling and needed the extra money but they wanted to do additional paperwork. I said nevermind. I am in a rush so I will just get it from the atm. She said if there no illegal activities going on, it shouldn't be an issue. I again told her I am in a rush so she asked me where I worked and my profession. Why will she insinuate that. I guess African Americans should not be banking with this bank because they will look suspicious withdrawing huge sums of money from their account. If I was Hispanic, my experience would have been different. I am a proud veteran who has served for 18 years and to receive this kind of racial profiling from a bank , it is totally unacceptable. I will stop doing business with SDCCU and ensure I spread the word about my experience

Credit cards wise is the worse. don't even try to open credit card there, their APR is 19.99. My credit score is increasing and never missed payment, they never bothered to increase my credit line or drop APR rate. I wouldn't recommend it to any one else. During that period other credit cards from other banks increased my credit line and their APR average 6-13%.

They keep blocking my card. There’s money in my account. Tried to use my card at one store this morning for around $12, it went through fine. Went to another store in the same mall, it got blocked for a transaction that was around $20. Called card services on a Sunday, they verified my transactions. They removed any blocks on their end. Tried to use my card again and it didn’t work. This happens all too frequently with my debit card and I’m tired of it. They already gave me a new card and had me update my pin to prevent this from happening and thus far it hasn’t worked. My ability to use my card is very sporadic. This is the era of modern technology right? I shouldn’t have to carry cash on me for everything. Debit card usage is a basic everyday thing. I’m over it. Opened an account at Chase when I got home. Skip this bank, their technology is awful.

I had an issue with my account was overdrawn , i went to fix it immediately only to find that they gave me lots of fee's that they cant remove even thought is SDCCU 's fault for not stopping the transaction to go thru. they gave me limits after that even though i have been a long time member and it was a 1 time mistake. Terrible service, managers that don't really care.Really unprofessional in general on this location only. I went to contact customer service number multiple times, they decided to cancel my account.Because of that issue im ok to cancel my account and keep using Chase Bank. The manager at this store is Melisa Preciado, really unhelpful.

SDCCU ran my credit score when I inquired about opening a checking account. They were not straight-forward in asking to do so but rather used indirect and misleading language to obtain general permission for allowing credit checks in regards to " various applicable business matters only" without indicating that it would take place immediately as part of the approval process for opening an account. This was absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary as I was not requesting a loan or credit line of any sort. I've never had to have a credit check to open a checking account before and I believe they were profiling me. As a result they will never have my business and I recommend anyone who does not appreciate such unwarranted and under-handed treatment to avoid them as well.

I like banking with SDCCU, but this particular branch I am leary about, because, when I deposited a $200 check and with-drew a $100 somehow my account shown I only deposited $100 and withdrew the $100. Shortening my checking account to the negitive, which I was charged and paid for from having monies pulled from savings. I went to a different branch when I recieved notice of the over drawn of this transaction, to speak with a manager. I was helped and got it straightened out, at least the missing other $100, but not my overdraft transfer fee :(

This is how banking should be; courteous, trustworthy, honest, with a smile. I love this branch, from the service desk to the loan lenders. SDCCU is my first and only choice for banking in San Diego. They care about you and your family. They work their hardest in order to accommodate your financial needs.
