San Francisco Federal Credit Union Reviews
C
I've been a client of the San Francisco Federal Credit Union, since 1984 and I only can emphasize my satisfaction with this instituition. The stuff is always cordial and attentive to all clients. I've only experienced great courtesy and efficiency in its premise. I'm starting to get worried about not receiving this kind of customer service elsewhere, once my husband and I move to South California, after our retirement. Glad we still have a couple of years to go, so, in the meantime, we'll keep enjoying such good bank!

It was a bit of a wait, but I understand and fortunately that doesn't really bother me, although I expect some others might get impatient. Antonio Green was a very helpful and efficient teller. I also am happy when I get Yolanda Hultman. She almost feels like a friend because I've encountered her in the bank for so many years. I like that she recognizes me.

I love doing my banking at a credit union and have been a customer here for at least 3 decades. I will say sometimes things take looonger at the SFCU, and it can be a real hassle that there are so few branches. They do have great customer service that is reachable by phone, which I believe is centered locally, and I have spoken to some of the same people for years.

We submitted all our paperwork, in-person, to get our non-profit charity's new treasurer added to our account and then got ghosted. Our follow-up emails went unanswered. I am not even on the organization's board anymore yet still have control of the organization's books. But the new treasurer doesn't, because of the abysmal customer service we have received.

If I could give a negative star I would. But. The most frustrating horrific ba horrific bank I have ever dealt with.. They had no problem taking my father's money. They just don't want to give it back to him. 3 phone calls 3 different requirements now they won't give him his money unless a 95 year old man goes into San Francisco to close the account. As the account. Whatever you do don't give them any of your money because you won't be able to get it back.

I am so happy that I switched from a corporate bank and moved my money to the San Francisco Federal Credit Union. Local Indigenous activists teach us that the best way to stop fossil fuel development is to place our money in local credit unions. The big corporate banks loan money to big companies for fossil fuel development, prisons and destructive industries. Local credit unions allow shareholders to have a voice in how funds will contribute to the local economy. The staff at SF FCU is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Get your money out of the big banks and help strengthen our local economy by joining the SF FCU. There's probably a branch near YOU

I would like to know why you decided to shut down the Financial District branch permanently. Or do you have plans to eventually reopen it when the pandemic is over? I live AND work downtown. The closest branch to me is Golden Gqte Avenue, and that is still too far. That is two bus rides away for me, from Nob Hill..
Dan, thank you for leaving us a 5-Star Review!

Lauriana Estrada offered excellent customer service in person and by phone.

Branch is fine, but check printing company/partner is extravagantly expensive and a ripoff machine. $43.00 to mail a pack of checks. When you say no thanks, they offer a discount. Rip off artists. I suggest the CU finds a more transparent and like-minded printer, with the non-profit mission and mindset of the CU itself.

A good credit union but customer service is is awful. Expect to be on hold during business hours for a half hour plus, and then get sent to the call center anyway. Then you will have another very long wait and then the line will go dead. When you call the credit union again during business hours you will again be routed to the call center for another long wait and then a conversation with a person who cannot help with a very routine matter.

Worst bank, would never do business with them. Rude teller staff. Tried to deposit cash for a shared branch that's listed on their website and they said they dont do it anymore. Told me I can use the ATM which stole $100 from me as it said the note was read as invalid (it never returned it btw, just look at the red light in the image). They told me to call my shared coop bank to get a refund. What a scam.

I've done a lot of business with this credit union. Loans, credit card, checking and savings. This was my primary credit union. over the years everything was pretty copecetic. But the past three years. Customer service has gone down in this branch and on the phone. Its absolutely awful. I've already opened an account with a different credit union. I would have suggested this credit union to others but now. Definitely not. I'm not sure if its a lack of training, lack of pay, poor management or what. But something needs to change. I'm done with this place.

This place treats many of its customers like 3rd class citizens. They are not very responsive to customers complaints, and they LIE to you a lot. This branch is located in a neighborhood occupied by people of color, whom they take for granted and disrespect. I had a bad experience with their complicated, time consuming kiosk registration process, to see a banker. They don't have that kind of nonsense downtown or in white neighborhoods! I don't recommend this branch or bank, if 770 Golden Gate is any indication of how S.F. Credit Union treats its customers overall. Goldie

Being a seasoned lady of 'a few decades,' I find the services provided by 'my' SFFCU to be 'outstanding,' comparitively speaking. My membership spans a few decades, I've not had difficulties transacting business, in person or online; and, it's my life-practice to give 'Kudos' where credit is due. Lastly, it is my hopes/expectations that the current system remains as effective, efficient and user-friendly as it is at this time. The service persons I've encountered over the years have remained 'consistently good,' and it's my expectation that this will always be the culture of 'our' credit union. Keep up the good 'customer services' and know we are as a family are grateful for your support and qualities as a local bank. Respectfully, Miz Frankie

Love that you're near ... would love it more if you were open Saturdays but I understand. Do not love the homeless tents and itinerants in card on Golden Gate Avenue though, it feels very sketchy sometimes, especially in winter. Everyone is really nice at the bank.

Tellers are great, other services tolerable, and my bank induced ruminating about the no longer extant coin counting machine (RIP) disheartening.

I like SFFCU because they have a help center where you can talk to a person. That is a disappearing feature with everyone automating customer service. Every so often I have to re-load the app which is a little discouraging. Really this should be 4 1/2 stars.

The people are great. But their IT and third-party IT abilities suck. For months, I have been unable to simply long in to my account--which I need to do every few days--without having to insert a "one-time" passcode sent to my phone. I have been in ongoing contact with IT, and while she is a lovely and very responsive person, this issue has not been resolved. Very frustrating. I'm pretty sure if Jonathan Oliver had this problem logging in to his account, the issue would have been rectified in 24 hours.

Great if you actually like going to/using a brick and mortar bank. Horrible if you need to reach them by phone or have any issues with your debit card. It takes me (on average) 20-30 min to get through to a human... I really wish they would invest in customer service. EDIT... having debit card issues again. Every time I call SFFCU they tell me to call Fraud Protection, who then tells me everything is fine and to call the bank. My card gets declined and nobody can tell me why. It's super frustrating. May have to find a better banking solution that invests in tech and customer service... will update this if I find one.

This is a TERRIBLE Website. I need to check my bank account balance, but it is BLOCKED ! How can I do my on-line Digital banking? You are making it very HARD for your depositors/customers to access their money, that's a BAD service.

I have been a member of this credit union for thirty some years. I have seen it come into the age of electronic banking and stayed through many transitions because the people have stayed throughout this process and it's the people that make an institution great. Thank you so much all you wonderful folks who have helped me through my direct deposits, my mortgage and anything that resembled finances. Thank you for being there when I cannot navigate the process of being a trust account or needing c ash loan. Thank you for always being there and being helpful I wish I were younger so I start younger and stay longer.
Aurora, thank you for taking the time to leave us a 5-star review. Thank you for being such a long time San Francisco Federal Credit Union member and we look forward to continuing to help with all your financial needs. Have a great week!

Best Bank Ever!!! Staff are so helpful and make you feel like they've known you forever. I have never encountered a banking problem or situation that the SFFCU team hasn't found a way to help solve! I wish there was a branch in San Jose but I've only had to travel to my actual branch about 5-6 times in my 25 years of being a member! Online services are so appreciated!
Rosalinda, thank you for leaving us a 5-star review! We are glad you had a pleasant experience at our branches over the weekend! Thank you for being a San Francisco Federal Credit Union member! Happy Holidays!
