BEWARE of the $50 cancellation fee. I cancelled 90 days prior to my arrival and was declined my request for reimbursement.

It's not new, but it's clean and charming. The French owner or front desk guy is very nice. The rooms offer good TV, cute little details, a fan next to the bed (which is necessary for my hot blood) and lots of clean towels. The location is amazing and they even offer free bikes to help see the town.

Really sweet little town. Hotel had all we needed and was comfortable and quiet. Historic feel. Clean.

Poor customer service. Even though they advertise Internet and cable there was none for the entire four-day stay. Not maintained well. Mold growing on back wall niche of dining room. Back door to the hallway of the inn was left open all day and night long propped open by employees without it being locked. Locks to the rooms don’t work well or are not secure. The owner was indifferent when I brought these issues up. Will not return.

This is a quaint, boutique-style hotel in the beautiful town of San Anselmo. Forget the cookie-cutter style, big box hotels. This place has a down home feel and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. Would stay again.

Booked reservation through Expedia and cancelled within Expedia time, as confirmed by them. When the property kept $50, I was told by Expedia to contact the property. I spoke to the "boss" and was told that the reservation fee of $50 is charged if the cancellation is made more than three days after the initial booking---not indicated on Expedia. I was told not to book on Expedia and threatened with a lawsuit if I gave a bad review.

A very cozy nostalgic Inn. Original bldg from early 1900's with nessasary updates. Friendly staff, small rooms but all needs included. Simple conventional breakfast. Our only real problem was all rooms were up very narrow stairs; very hard to get luggage to room. Considering all these issues price could be a little less in our opinion. Great location, close to all needs, great old downtown feel to the town.

Absolutely magnificent. The staff and rooms were nice and relaxing and very accommodating. The breakfast was ridiculously good. Everyone was smiling, the whole town had an easy, relaxed feel to it. The restaurant connected to the inn had amazing food and a great atmosphere. I will definitely be staying here again the next time we come through.

The Inn is a nice place within easy walking range to much else around San Anselmo. It's quiet, too. The check-in process was super easy and the rooms are just big enough, but the bathrooms are in the smaller side (and with very, very thin walls). The breakfast is on the simple side but good, though there are a few places nearby if you need something bigger.

We stayed here two nights and had a king bed in one room and another bed in an adjoing room in the very front of the building. The good is that it's a fun location to see San Anselmo and they have some quant flowers on the path that smelled nice.The front of the desk staff was helpful however the owner (an Italian man) was abrupt and rude in the way he asked if I wanted to stay another night. The front of the building is very noisy at night to the point it was disruptive to sleep and we're not light sleepers. In my room I had views of concrete walls duck tape around the AC unit in the window and also duct tape on the carpet. If you don't look closely at the inn you can see at one point it was a charming inn however in its current condition it is in a gross condition like a Motel 8 trying to mask itself with some very old floral duvets with a price tag well above what your getting. It has so much potential yet it's very dingy and yes like a thrift store condition. I own a historic Elizabethan cottage myself and can say what's happening here is a lack of basic repair and upkeep. No high chairs here which makes breakfast nearly impossible feat. The owner is also having a Italian tourist work for him illegally when coming on tourist and not work visa. My recommendation is go stay at the Fairfax inn and use the extra money and go get yourself a nice breakfast as their shortfall is breakfast but otherwise it's nicer.
