The homebuying process felt like quite a long journey for me. I purchased a property that was under construction, and the closing date was pushed out multiple times. The one constant was the phenomenal communication from Chad and Root Mortgage. I was cross-shopping rates with my credit union, and Root offered better rates with more flexibility for a longer lock. Chad was always very quick to respond to emails and answer my questions in detail. I had such a great experience working with him that I recommended him to a family member, and they had a similarly stellar experience. Quick comparison between large bank and Root Mortgage home-buying experience: My older brother and I both purchased our first homes around the same time this summer. My brother chose a large bank whose name rhymes with "Schmally" as his mortgage lender. I went with Root per my agent's recommendation. My brother got locked in at the standard interest rate at the time, I got locked in at 0.1% less than him. He could've gotten a lower rate, but the lender made an error and they didn't find it until after signing papers. He also had to deal with about 5 different mortgage advisors who couldn't answer his simple questions; I only had to deal with one, Scott Kirkland, who took care of me throughout the entire process and was dedicated to educating me along the way. My brother and his wife found errors in their paperwork at signing making them liable for expenses they didn't agree to; Root Mortgage was transparent about all costs/fees/responsibilities from the get-go. You get the picture. Don't end up like my brother, and choose Root Mortgage.
