READ ANYTHING RICHWOOD BANK SENDS YOU! They arbitrarily switched the savings account I had with Home City Bank to some other account that you only earn money from your credit card usage. I DID NOT have a credit card with them so received no interest on the account for 7 months. I closed the account. Yes, they probably mailed me something but I didn't read things closely enough to realize the significant change they made. It is very frustrating that I went from having an account with a bank I could trust enough not to have to look at each statement, to one from which I received no benefit. I do not recommend this bank.

I tried to open a new account. 3 tellers and 1 manager there, nobody else in the building and they were too busy. Wanted me to make an appointment. Yikes, this is not customer service.

just what Springfield needs another debt trap

I have been with Home City Bank since 2009. When it became Richwood Bank, I wasn’t sure what kind of service they would have. I was very happy that they maintained the same great customer service that Home City had. I always have a great relationship with everyone at the bank. They re-modeled the building and also set up a great coffee shop inside.

I would not recommend Home City Federal Savings Bank. When I went to withdraw the funds my father had left to me at this bank, they charged me a hefty early withdrawal penalty. I communicated several times with the bank president J. William Stapleton, and he refused to forgive the penalty. I approached 4 other banks in Springfield and NONE of them charge penalties for early withdrawal due to death and they were aghast that any bank would do such a thing. In order to settle the estate you have to close the accounts and Home City Federal Savings penalizes you for that. Don't do business with this bank.
