We were with NYCM for 10 years when they decided to not renew our policy. According to them we had too many claims. The claims in question, consisted of 2 deer collisions, several auto glass replacements (a known problem for the model of car we had at the time), one incident when someone hit our car while we were not in it and it was parked in a parking lot. And an incident where we were rear ended waiting to take a left turn. While the representative we spoke to was sympathetic, we were told there was nothing they could do. I cannot tell how much of a blessing this was! We found another company, added our homeowners as well and ended up saving $300 a year. Good riddance, if anyone else is looking, make sure shop around

Got hit by a drunk driver ensured through NYCM three months ago. He was arrested for DWI and hit and run, yet his insurance has not paid me for 3 months because they have to “determine liability”. I sent them the police report showing that he was responsible and they said they still have to talk to their party to hear his side of the story. There is a police report saying that he is the one held accountable for the accident and he was drunk and you still have to determine liability?! Update: It has been another month, and I still have not received any word about my claim. I’ve tried to call multiple times, yet have just been put on hold for 40+ minutes. This company is shady and does not operate correctly. Absolutely ridiculous

If i could rate less then 1 star I would, NYCM Insurance is a Horrible company and over priced, i switched to a different insurance provider and saved $600 a year on better premiums, the customer service is a joke and they don't care about their customers, i sent multiple cancelation notices with no confirmations, spent 3 hours on hold, when i finally went to their website and (the only way to even talk to anyone) used the chat system i found out hey hit me with hidden charged! $124 when i got a new vehicle, the chat with their representative made it clear this company doesn't care about their people, they only care about the money, and their ridiculous rates prove that. honestly dumping this company as my insurance provider was the best choice... i went from paying $1500 premium a year to $890 a year for better coverage + roadside assistance.

I was with this company for several years. I did like the price & coverage. I was just astonished to learn they with not renew my policy d/t my boyfriends DWI charge (soooo long ago). They only found out because I had to add him to my policy because I moved in with him. He doesn't even drive my car!!! ever since the DWI incident my BF is sober and doesn't drive!! This company doesn't forgive people. and why am I being penalized?!

Terrible customer service. Any policy questions are just redirected to a local agent. However, they are amazingly helpful when comes time to pay your premium. Will be cancelling a homeowners policy asap. By far, the worst insurance company out there.

First off, I have been driving since 1970. Along the way I have had many vehicles as well as have been insured by other companies. NONE have been better than NYCM! I had a minor accident about a year ago backing out of a tight spot. My vehicle had no damage, but the other party had about $2800. worth. Once I had handed over the claim to my agent with all of the information, it all was handled without any other effort on my behalf. Incredibly, NYCM took care of everything. It is the way insurance should be, but seldomly is. Also, my policy rates are substantially lower that "State F&%*#" (which I had for many years previously). I don't know what the negative reviews are about, but I am a VERY happy auto and homeowner policy owner. I would recommend them without reservation!

Update! When our auto policy came up for renewal they canceled it citing my husbands driving record as the reason. If it was so bad, why did you add him to the policy without question 10 months earlier? Nothing changed. Was it a sneaky move to finally have reason to cancel my policy? I think so! I know you hate paying those comprehensive claims. Sorry a tree branch landed on my car during a storm. We found new insurance with better coverage elsewhere for both our home and auto. Better price too! Good riddance, NYCM! I’ve had an auto policy with NYCM since I started driving. My entire family uses NYCM. In the past they attempted to cancel my policy after my car was vandalized and then I hit a deer. Neither were my fault or anything I could have avoided. I recently got married and they raised my premium by $543. After 18 years as a customer I will be looking elsewhere. My husband’s insurance company will insure both of us for less.

Absolutely the best insurance anyone could ever expect or hope for. My wife and I had a partial fire related loss to our home, and these guys REALLY pulled through in a big way. It took a while for the whole claim to come together, but we were well taken care of in the meantime in regards to food and a place to sleep. Oh but did I mention, they were one of the most affordable options we explored as well? and over the years we carried them, our rates NEVER increased like most insurance companies do? They really did not give us a hard time during any part of the process, they were more than happy to accommodate us and were gracious when I expressed concerns about funding to repair certain aspects of my home. The staff were extremely helpful, professional, knowledgeable, responsive, empathetic, and I could tell they actually cared about us and this very difficult time in our lives. All together, they made this very tragic and traumatic experience in our lives, very manageable and we were able to pull through it. I HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone insuring their home.

All I can say is "WOW"! I had to file a food spoilage claim because of the recent power outages. I was dreading the process, as I am known for having AWFUL luck with insurance companies. I'm not good at fighting on my own behalf. Well, this was a completely new experience! The people were so down to earth. I swear i wanted to ask my claims rep to be my new best friend; they seemed to truly care about my financial needs. I did not have to argue to get what I was entitled too and it took less than 48 hours for the check to be issued. I called my agent to share the good experience with her and she said that this is typical for this company. She said her agency works with lots of insurance companies and that NYCM is the one her and her employees get their insurance from. Now, I am sending my USAA policies to her so I can move my auto insurance to NYCM! Thank you for treating my family so well.

Absolutely the worst. Their driver hit my daughter. They determined 100% fault for their driver, after we fought them - initially said 90% and my daughter was hit broad side by a driver who ran a red light. Thankfully police report and three witness statements forced them to change - the hadn't even looked at the report before saying it was 10% our fault. Then, they did not issue payment for the tow yard in time - and the tow yard will not release the car until they get full payment. Which means we have to pay for extra days while NYCM takes their time mailing the payment. So far, it will be several days based on the timing. The female supervisor I spoke to on 10-29 was as rude and condescending as can be. Absolutely no empathy or recognition that the issue of the timing of them releasing the payment was going to cost us. Then, said that if I was going to get upset, that wasn't going to help "get something" from them. Then refused to provide contact information for the anyone else in the company - saying I could look it up. This. This is why people hate insurance companies. Forcing people to fight them for what is fair. Defaulting to put blame on the blameless. And treated people disrespectfully. Pick another company for sure.

Without exception, NYCM is the best insurance company I've ever had the pleasure of having coverage with. My car was recently damaged by someone while I was Christmas shopping. Every aspect of the claims process was handled on a timely basis and in a very professional and courteous manner. In responding to questions I had while my car was being repaired, each individual person I dealt with was exceptional. The claims process was handled so well and smoothly that I was honestly waiting for the other shoe to drop....which it never did. NYCM is very customer-focused and I could not be more pleased.

Customer service in regards to claims has gotten really bad over the past year or so. Unfortunately I was involved in an accident in 2018 where my situation was resolved promptly , and without any issues. But for my recent accident which occured in December 2019 the experience I went through , and am still going through has been very upsetting , and taxing on my health. NYCM is now dealing with a fraudulent claims adjusting company called B and G adjustments, and one of their con artist adjusters named Geno literally drove up to my vehicle around 5am in the morning , only exited his vehicle to leave a card in my windshield , and purposely never called me to come out to explain, and show him the damages I had under the hood, and show him my check engine light. So his adjustment was about $2800 lower than what I actually had to pay. I contacted the NYCM Claims Supervisor Maureen Sharkey, and as she defended the adjuster she refused to assist me with resolving this matter. I received a check for $750 although I spent over 5 thousand in repairs, The current excuse of why I won't get paid now is because the adjuster didn't approve the repair which is because he never went to the shop which my vehicle was located at for two weeks. They could've showed him the extra damage in 5 minutes as they did for me. So I'm out 4 thousand dollars, Maureen Sharkey says I will not be refunded any more money, and all the stress and frustration I been through calling the insurance company, and chasing down the adjuster was a waste. They could've kept the $750 if I knew I had to go through all this stress.

I have been insured with NYCM for over a year now. Unfortunately, I was in an accident right before Christmas time.The 24/7 Customer Service center was really convenient, and staff were very nice as they helped answer all the questions I had. Believe me, I had a lot of questions! Not only was Customer Service helpful, but my Appraiser and Claims Examiner were also great! This month I was able to add my husband to my auto policy with the help of my agent. We also now have our home insured with NYCM, and we saved over $500 for the year! BIG SAVINGS & GREAT SERVICE- My Husband and I could not be happier!

If I could give them less than one star I would. They are an awful insurance company that does not follow through with claims in a timely fashion. Due to their client's negligence which caused an 3 car accident, causing me to have injuries and totally my car,, after 7 days I had to contact NYCM again because they had not done anything with my claim. As of this writing, I have been without a day for 10 days and was told that they may reimburse me at compact rate after they investigate the accident. I really do not know why I need to be so inconvenienced when I was not at fault. I even supplied them with my statement on the accident date and a copy of the accident report with no further action from them but a letter from them wanting me to regurgitate everything that they already have. I have had it and am consulting an attorney.

I have home insurance with equipment warranty coverage with NYCM insurance. Recently I filled claim with my central AC unit .after the hurricane my ac condenser is not working some kind electrical surqute my compressor is not working.NYCM send one HVAC technician he come look up the system he said you need a new compressor or you need to replace new system.Then I showed other 2 HVAC technician they toll your compressor is burned-out because some electrical problem that's why its burned-out you need to replace new compressor. Or replace new condenser. After 2 days I called NYCM ask them they toll we don't cover your air-conditioning unit because you need to maintain the system and wear and tear.if you have any questions call Our HVAC technician. I called there HVAC technician he said I never said thay.please stay way from this company.biggest scam..... I'm glad I didn't have a major claim like a fire related one. Now shopping around for a new company for policy.

Horrible experience so far with this company. Have had no water in my house at all for 4 days. Sent in a form from plumber noting they have to dig up my lawn and replace piping, there response was they do not cover it unless the pipe is broken. Why would there be any other reason to replace a pipe? Not very fast to call you back and the 24/7 emergency number is a joke. Even if something happens after hours, they'll make your claim but companies still won't touch any type of work until it gets approved within regular business hours...

been waiting since 10/26/21 to get my money for a accident that was caused by their driver was told because hes in jail they still have to get the statement been in jail since 11/8/21 called today for them to tell me that they are still waiting so i asked what happens if they cant get the statement their response was- if they don't get the statement i cant get my money. this is straight bull!!!!! Horrible experience signing up for this insurance...more paperwork, phone surveys (they don't trust their agents obviously), site visits, vehicle photo visits, and then follow-up calls to ensure they have the correct information...the process of switching from State Farm to NYCM was more difficult than closing on the house with 3 lawyers and a bank...was with State Farm for over 30 years...sorry I switched.

I was hit by a driver with NYCM. It was 100% their fault. Driver apologized. No harm. Police report ect. For the past three weeks I’ve got nowhere with the claims adjuster who passes the buck ect. The worse ran company that should be looked into. How does it take 3 weeks to pay out for light damage. Funny now they want to speak to me. So I called and the examiner was rude, didn’t listen to what I was saying. So now my insurance is getting involved. Terrible company. Better off getting geico spend the extra bucks.

The worst insurance company. Rude and uncooperative. Not willing to pay for the colors of the repair materials to match the existing, they would only cover it to the extent that it works the same. So if you have red siding and white is cheaper… you’re going to have a mix of red and white on your house unless you pick up the difference yourself.

Worst Insurance Company Ever. NEVER returns phone calls. Does not respond to emails. Does not do ANY follow up at all. Verifies nothing. I had to call them continuously and still got no where. I was hung up on! And this was after waiting patiently for almost 2 months just to hear from them. In the end they refused to pay what they should have. This place is awful. If you are considering this company. RUN the other way! Absolutely awful and rude. Give your money to someone who will treat you like a human being. Wish I could give them a -5 star.

I had NYCM for years. They used to be one of the cheapest places around for car insurance. I switched companies in March, saving several hundred dollars a year, plus got higher coverages as they would not stop raising their rates. Of all the companies I have had for insurance, these people have harassed me for months to send them a copy of the new companies info. They have even threatened to to notify the DMV of non payment of coverage. Which is hilarious that they think are still my provider. Do yourself a favor people, RUN! Do not ever use their company for coverage, they will harass you for months with threats. I paid the full year in advance, yet the savings you get for that is raised the following year by that amount. My big Red company has saved me hundreds a year with higher levels of coverage, friendlier agents. I have no accidents or tickets, so why would my premiums need to go up by a hundred plus every year for years? Glad to be rid of this company. What a joke.

I have had NYCM for years and have nothing but good to say about them. We have had to put in a homeowners claim and the adjuster was fast and efficient, truly wonderful to work with. Everyone I have spoken to there is very friendly as well! It seems as of a lot of people who have had bad experiences have lousy agents, not a bad insurance company. The agent is supposed to be the go between between the company and the customer and it seems as if they aren't not doing their jobs! For the woman with renters insurance...that was your agents fault not the company, NYCM is actually not allowed to start a policy themselves, a agent has to do it, so that's the fault of the agent you called for the quote!

Pray you never get involved in an accident with someone who has this as their insurance company. Their client was 100% liable for the accident according to the police and they want to offer only 80% of repairs. Then the accident happened 21 days ago and I am still waiting for them to cover the repairs. I paid out of my own pocket for the cost to get my car fixed. Spoke with them last week was told they were sending a check and now here we are 10 days later and find out they still havent mailed one out. Not a very reputable company to deal with when they have to pay out for the negligence of their clients. Definitely would not recommend them to anyone. Update: now here we are 2/26 was promised the check was in the mail towards the repairs for my car once again. The check was supposedly mailed out on 2/21 and yet I have received nothing. This is 25 days after this accident. My daughter was hit by someone who had Allstate 2 weeks after my accident and Allstate has already paid and completed the repairs to her vehicle. Yet here I am still waiting. Didnt realize NYCM claim examiners were wiser than the Amherst PD as far as who was at fault in this accident.

I was horrified after reading these reviews. It was my first time filing a claim with them and I had hit my boyfriend's (very nice) car in my driveway. This gave me an opportunity to witness both how this company handled my claim, and the other party whose damage I caused. Well, this accident happened late on Monday afternoon, and I'm sitting here Friday afternoon (4 days later!) With a check in both of our hands for the damages to our vehicles. I felt like everyone who we dealt with was prompt, courteous, and professional. ( Joanne when we called, and Josh in claims). I am honestly impressed by ANY standards with how we were both treated. So, while I'm so sorry for people that did not have a good experience with this company, I wanted a voice for some people that did!

I have had the worst experience with this company. I was insured with them for several years. I have excellent credit and driving record. I had to call in a few tows on my vehicle and one glass repair coverage. I had one late payment and the woman Named Ronda in the underwriting dept. refused to reinstate my policy. I also have homeowners insurance through them and they literally refused to help me in this matter. I called another agency that quoted me $500 less than NYCM. So it worked out in my favor. I do not recommend them for any of your insurance needs.

Pay into homeowners coverage for 34 yrs with less than 5 claims, all small, and they cancel me in March in upstate NY, because flashing blew off during a blizzard, and a handrail wasn't yet installed on a deck project started the prior summer. I don't know any contractors who will do exterior work, flashing and a deck handrail in the winter. We have since replaced flashing and installed a handrail on our beautiful new deck. We also went with a different insurance company. Their adjustors/inspectors are rude and arrogant as well.

I just moved my auto insurance over to NYCM from one of the big guys (think little green lizard) and I was shocked at how much more competitive their rates were with the same level of coverage. I have received a welcome call and confirmation of coverage and drivers on the policy from a very friendly customer service rep. So far the process has been painless and I would recommend you consider them when looking for a new insurance carrier.

I was assaulted in May and needed an extension on paying my premium and was told I can pay as soon as I can. So then I get a cancellation notice in the mail. Then another letter came saying my policy was back in affect. I made a payment of $266 on June 1st then today I receive another letter saying I’m cancelled even though I made a payment. So they take your money and then cancel you without working with you. No one called or anything. This company is biased against domestic violence victims. I will be contacting a lawyer as in their policy it clearly stated no discrimination against victims of violence. I have legal documentation stating my assault. I will never recommend this company. Be careful with them. Especially if your car is a total loss and they have to pay out. Things will change with them. Oh and Virginia Johnson in the Accounts department loves to send out nasty short letters with very truly yours at the end of her letters. Not a nice person.
