If I could do negative stars I would. I purchased a vehicle a little over a month ago and dealership went with this company. Been waiting on a statement to pay forever. 4/30 received a call that my payment is now a DAY late, told them that I never received correspondence and that I had no idea when my payment was due. I was told to look on my contract and they do not send statements. I asked for a higher up manager. I told him how unprofessional the staff is and I made a payment because I was told I was a day late (less than 30 days after purchase), he stated I should have received a welcome packet which I obliviously did not. He emailed me over the contracts and 4 days later I received a welcome packet from him. Got a letter today stated they received notice of cancellation or intent to cancel from my auto insurance policy. I called my auto insurance who stated my policy is active and they can not find anywhere where something was sent out stating that. As you ready the letter from North State if you do not cover with insurance they charge a premium, which I am assuming is what they are doing here, trying to get more money. I work for the State of NC and they have been reported and my insurance company is calling corporate to notify them that no such was sent and obtain fax number and email to send "proof of insurance" never in my life have I dealt with a company that is so unprofessional or corrupt as this one. My vehicle will be refinanced with a professional organization
We are sorry you did not receive this information when closing your loan with the dealership. Which dealership and what is the account name under? We do not have a record of your account at our Wilmington location. As for the insurance. We do not want to write our coverages as it only protects NSA. We definitely want you to keep your full coverage. If you switch carriers and do not notify the branch they do not have any way of knowing who you switched your carrier too. Please reach out to the local branch and they will be glad to assist in this matter. However, under the name you have disclosed here, we do not have any record of your name.

Absolutely the worst finance company! They will call you and harass you literally in the same month you owe. I was barely 30 days late and they repossessed my car! After I had tried to make payment arrangements with them and they stated if I did not pay in the same month they would repo my car ..absolutely ridiculous and I literally was going to pay two days after they repossessed it. They are extremely rude and unprofessional they try to tell you what you’re going to do with your own money.

I just want to make sure I give these snakes the stars they deserve. Obviously they don't deserve any. S/O lost his job due to Covid, we have a newborn, we weren't yet even 60 days behind (40 days to be precise), we called to see if they were offering deferments, whereas most fiance companies have been moving one or two payments to the end of loans to support the struggling community. This company said "No, had you called in May or June we could have done that" WE MADE PAYMENTS IN BOTH OF THOSE MONTHS! Apparently being good customers and making payments means, if anything should happen in the future, we can just go fly a kite. After explaining our struggling situation and receiving their cold response they decided to harass us and repo my S/O's vehicle. 40 days behind on payment, infant child, income reduced by half because of covid. The tow company said they authorized it as a way to try to get our attention and make a payment. S/O had perfect payment history before this, mind you. Joke is on them because we'd rather take the hit on our credit than have anything further to do with such terrible people, we requested S/O's loan officer, Stephen, to call us and we'd make a payment after he confirmed that there was no way to do any kind of deferment. We never received that phone call from Stephen, but he took the time to pick up the phone and call the tow company. We were EVENTUALLY given the name of the repo company and called to see if we could come clean out our belongings including 12 cans of my child's baby formula, the tow company said we'd have to wait the weekend as they closed in 15 mins (this was on a Friday) I went and bought my child another $45.00 Can of formula with money we already didn't have. When we got to the tow company Monday morning the finance company (North State) told the tow company that we were not allowed to take my S/O's tool box, given to him by his now late family member, off the truck. We tried to reason with them and they were absolutely heartless and denied our retrieving the tool box. Funny thing is the "Manager", Michelle at North State in Wilmington was happy to speak with me on the phone when she called me looking for payment on a loan that doesn't have my name attached to it, yet she demanded I remove myself from the call we placed together while at the tow company. Pretty sure she realized how disgusting of a human she was showing herself to be. Both Michelle and Stephen should be ashamed. To those looking to do business with these people please consider my words and my review of this company. North State thought they would receive payment faster from us by taking the vehicle but, again, jokes on them, the truck is worth much less than we owe and would have paid and we will not be paying the difference from what they receive at auction. "Let's take the truck that is only 40 days late on payment, regardless of perfect payment history, maybe that will get them to pay faster!" Haha terrible idea folks. Internet, please do your thing to this awful "business" and keep my family in your prayers along with everyone else affected by covid.

Anyone who left a positive review here is obviously someone who works there or a family friend lmao there’s no way you had a positive experience with these people. Everything stated in the negative comments are correct I was blown away with how accurate they are. These people will make you want to give your car back

Worst place ever. Don't take partial payments. Gets an attitude with you. Reposed car then wanted to work something out to help you but could have before and refused. I do not recommend financing through them. Had the vehicle detailed and never said where. Threw my belongings and important court papers in trash and gave me the run around about where they were to cover their ass until 30 days past.

This place is AMAZING!!!!!! COMMUNICATION is key to ALL situations.... Everyone at North State Acceptance, Wilmington goes above and beyond to help you!!!!! Highly recommended!!!!

If you are looking to finance with these monster's triple THINK! You can do better. They are not good to work.with and MICHELLE should not even be working nor should STEVEN,the manager. They don't care of covid happened or your sick. I do understand it is a business however these people have no conscious especially Michelle! Michelle is a rude obnoxious woman who needs a skill or two in the customer service department. Some of my friends go here and they will be pulling out. Northstate of Wilmington & Corporate Raleigh NO BUENO!!!!!!!

After reading the other reviews I have to say that I’ve had none of the issues they had but I think the difference is that I make my payments on time . North state is a group of great people who help people with with less than perfect credit and if you don’t make your payment don’t expect them not to call you and/or repossess your car. All you have to do is keep your end of the deal .

After reading other reviews I’m shocked because I’ve had nothing but excellent service from them! Very professional and when my husband had surgery to remove cancer they offered to let me pay only the interest that month and the remainder added to the end of the loan which was a huge help. We’ve dealt with the entire staff and all are wonderful. Mybguess is the other reviewers didn’t make payments on time and chose to wait til it was too late to tell them. You have to communicate! All companies and people need that! Great company and I look forward to getting another car thru them. PS- the car is amazing as well!

Have dealt with them more so decades ago when Jim(owner)worked in the office. Northstate was always helpful and accommodating. Afterwards, had purchased from Jeff Gordon & leased from Neuwirth. When that expired, I went back to Northstate for something inexpensive to pay off quickly. Now that there are a few new faces that I don't remember from decades ago, Steve has gone completely ABOVE AND BEYOND!!!!!! I've never received any calls from them bc I pay before my due date. I give them a 👍🏽's up!
