For our home loan, we went with NBKC because they charged very low fees, gave the most competitive rate, and had some of the best customer service we have had from any service. Dan promised us he would be our one point of contact (instead of having endless emails from an underwriter/assistant/etc ) and personally kept us on top of the process to meet a tight deadline for closing before rates increased. Well done, will be referring to family and friends.

A horrible bank and loan provider. The industry is shady enough, but to have an organization like this request paperwork and receive total transparency from me just to waste people's time in refinancing loans. I was fool enough to trust an online recommendation to use this bank. Their loan officers are so scummy and untrustworthy. He called me again and again at the beginning, almost begging me to apply for the loan after my original contact. Once I provided them with all of the paperwork and was told my underwriting file was complete, I waited. The loan officer sent me paperwork to approve. There was a number of mistakes, and, rather than fix the errors, he told me it was okay, it wasn't final, and he told me just to sign the documents. I told him that fixing the errors would provide us with a common understanding of the loan agreement and would mean no changes would be required for the final agreement. He then blamed me for the errors, telling me that I hadn't updated them with the changes. It was very slight-of-hand. And suddenly, after I wouldn't sign these documents, the feedback I received was completely negative. I provided them with responses to all of their follow-up questions, no matter how ridiculous. I provided them with my actual tax returns. They then demanded I tell them why this information didn't match what they downloaded from the IRS. I told them that I don't review their work nor do I know their system. I looked at their file anyway and saw the data was corrupted. Rather than downloaded the data to confirm my return was accurate, they then told me that they would not be pursuing a loan with me because I sometimes rent parts of my house out for additional income. I did meet all of their income requirements, my credit score is over 800, I have assets worth ten times the loan amount. However, the loan officer told me that since I have rented part or all of my primary residence in the past (with great results by the way), they couldn't support my application. They accused me of lying on my application, and said that my primary residence was a lie. I have a drivers license, bank and credit accounts, utilities, etc. to prove my primary residence. Without any other explanation, the loan officer said they wouldn't consider my loan. After begging to apply, and wasting so much of my time, they didn't care. And, the loan officer sent my private identity information by I secure email for the whole world to see. When I informed him of this error, he initially denied it. When I showed him the documents and his email to prove it, he told me it was no big deal. If you want a bank or loan provider to beg you for business, mishandle your data, accuse you of lying, waste your time, and reject your business because you won't sign their documents with errors, this is the organization. I have gotten tens of loans and refinanced many more, and this organization is the WORST I have ever dealt with.

We've used Amy Paterson at NBKC for 2 home purchases and 2 rental refinances - each time has been a wonderful experience. Everything is straight forward, no surprises, and Amy is absolutely on top of all the requirements and answers questions quickly. We haven't had any surprises going into closing or last minute financial requests. Being military and using the VA loan option, everything has been very smooth. Transitioning out of the military brought it's own finance proof challenges but Amy was very knowledgeable on how to navigate airline contract pay issues. There was no other agent I wanted to work with on securing a new home loan other than Ryan Ament because he made the process of refinancing our primary residence over a year ago stress free. He did no disappoint. He quickly went into action when I called him about needing a pre-approved letter ASAP for a secondary residence. Not only was he always available to answer questions or explain things in a timely manner, but he also assisted me in obtaining home insurance when I had difficulties doing so on my own. My realtor was so impressed by Ryan's willingness help me throughout the process that she plans to refer him to future clients.

I opened a business account based on all the great reviews, but thus far, my experience is very disappointing so far. It's been 23 days since I opened the account and still don't have a debit card. The first time I asked about the card, they told me to wait another 5-6 days before contacting them again. Today, I'm told there was some sort of problem and they'd put the request in again. I asked them to expedite the card and they said they couldn't (other banks have been happy to do so in the past). Contacting support has been an issue too. I sent a message yesterday and never received a call. I called them today and after three tries, I got a call back. I hope this isn't a sign of future problems, but I must admit that cutting my losses by closing the account might be in my best interest. NBKC may be have staffing issues and/or the popularity is more than they can handle right now. Either way, it's a shame, I was looking forward to working with them.

We were connected to Robb Walter with NBKC through Costco's Mortgage Program. From our first phone call with him (on a Sunday afternoon mind you) until closing, we could always rely on him. He was honest, straight-forward, and took more time teaching and explaining everything to us than other lenders we had spoken with previously. He explained rate locks, closing costs, points, etc. and gave us suggestions on what to do. Being in Hawaii we were worried about the time difference as a communication factor. Our realtor also cautioned us about using a mainland lender (versus staying local) because of Hawaii's differing laws and processes, which most mainland lenders are unaccustomed to and which could setback/affect closing. However, Robb put those concerns to rest immediately. Communication was NEVER an issue and NBKC/Robb had completed everything so quickly that they were able to close early! Overall, our mortgage process was such a smooth and seamless ride. I highly recommend Robb and NBKC, and will be coming back for any future transactions we may have!

I had closed my home loan on 6/9/2022. Here is my experience. I had shopped for best rates and selected 4 lenders, ONLY NBKC bank did not change the initial discussed rate while all other lenders changed rates on daily basis in the period of 14 days. From the beginning of the transaction everything is clear and closed the loan on time. Response from the lender is quick and they answer any questions regarding the process.I suggest Adam Lutjen, Loan officer and he is very detailed and informative during the process.

My first experience at doing a mortgage online and remotely. Went there because the rates were better than anything I could find locally. Though the experience was a bit different than what I remembered from before, it was not burdensome and was probably quicker than doing it locally and more face-to-face. Most of the documents were done electronically which I think also sped things up. The fact that local needs (appraisal, paper signings) could be easily handled by NBKC was also interesting. All in all a good experience. I much appreciated my mortgage officer, Dave Anderson. He was patient with my sometimes irritating questions, answered my questions quickly, and often replied to my 'after hours' questions soon after I sent them, even though I did not expect an answer until the next morning. Dave has obviously been in this business a long time and knows his stuff. However, if he doesn't know the answer he will say so and then go find the answer and get back to you. In medical terms, Dave has an excellent bedside manner! I really did enjoy my conversations with Dave.

I had an unpleasant experience with another lender and cancelled mid-process due to my serious doubts about their expertise and legitimacy. My credit monitor connected me to David Parker at NBKC. He never handed off my account and remained the contact person of record. He worked quickly and never wasted my time. He maintained his professionalism at all times. David engaged an appraiser and a notary who were also responsive and completed their respective responsibilities expeditiously. I am so pleased and they are highly recommended.

My loan officer communicated well and was quickly responsive. I really felt he was on my side. The online application was easy to do and the underwriting was straightforward, in comparison to other lenders who began by requiring MUCH more documentation -- and told me that every underwriter would need all that -- despite my having an excellent credit score. It was a huge relief to have this process go so smoothly.

It was a pleasant experience overall. Barbara Radzevich was my loan consultant. She was very knowledgeable and stayed on the top of things. Initially, her behavior appeared bit patronizing. However, I politely let her know that and then, that was not an issue any more. Other than that, she was very supportive and helped me through house purchase process. NBKC also offered the best rate among competitors. I also found its service during the loaning process reliable. Of course, my loan got sold to other agency. However, I believe that to be a normal practice in mortgage industry. I am yet to pay the first installment. So, I obviously can not comment on this aspect.

NBKC came in with the best rate out of the 5 lenders we ran. Our loan officer, David, was fantastic and made every step of the process clear and communicated quickly. I honestly sometimes felt like we must be his only clients, although I am sure he is busy. He even took the time to answer urgent questions outside normal business hours. We ended up in a weird situation in which we, as the buyers, and the seller were waiting for the county to get on the ball, which stalled the closing, and David was great at explaining our options clearly and keeping communication with us and our real estate agent at every step. The title company said the closing agent they worked with was also fantastic. I can not recommend NBKC highly enough.

Wow. We were struggling trusting our original big-bank lender, and didn’t feel good about closing. Luckily, Michael came to our rescue. We found him via Costco and we got an excellent interest rate, low closing costs, and closed within 3 weeks of first meeting with him.
