Before you use this company, go to your dentist and ask them to pull out all your teeth with a hammer. It will be a better experience than dealing with this company. All I tried to do was pay off my final payment of 630.40 and they have done nothing but make it absolutely painful. I paid the final payoff amount. They changed my payment instead of letting it go thru and it got flagged by my card company as fraud. Now today I paid it in full again with the late fee. Called to check that it was paid and the automated system says I owe them an additional 171$ plus 363$ in unpaid balance. So basically they are charging me 500$ additional for paying off the agreed upon amount. Customer service is non existent as I have called 11 times and not once got a person to answer. It's amazing to me what they do is legal and every person employed by them is going to hell for sure.

This company is horrible. Very rude. Try to tell you how much to pay. Then extend it out. Tried to work with them and they still want to send to debt collector and put more owed on it. Do not try this company. Bad business. Wish I had never done it.

Called to make an early payment as people normally do and their representative put in to hold payments for the next 3 months to try and extend the length back to original after he confirmed my next months payment. When I called to ask why this happened the manager who I had asked to speak with told me that it wasn’t her problem. The entire time that they weren’t taking my scheduled payments the were adding on interest. If you’re even considering using these people please just look at the reviews because they should be deterrent enough.

There was a lot of bad reviews that I noticed, which was only as I was trying to pay off the rest of my loan that still had $1630, roughly. I will admit, with all the reviews I was a little nervous since I just did a payoff online only without talking to anyone. Much to my relief, I had no issues. Paid off the loan, they adjusted the next pay date from the 10th of Feb to the 10th of Nov so I didn't get autodrafted. No issues. I'm not saying the others are wrong, but I simply had a different experience. Also, it was not a 'personal' choice to use them. I used Credova and it was sold/given to Monterey Financial. Making an account was easy as well and I did everything automated without talking to a single person, so I cannot say how their customer service is.

First they make you do auto pay or charge an extra $15 every time you make a payment (unless you mail them a check, apparently thats the only way to not get charged). Second they are not helpful if you miss a payment or if you get declined, they charge $25 for a late payment plus the $15 fee even if you have autopay. I had no choice as I wanted to further my education and this was the bank they chose. I will be more careful in my future and avoid this bank.

Medtronic uses this third party for payment options on their insulin pumps. All was well until my last two payments. I was set up on autopay. There was an error on their end running the card. I called to ask them to please re-run, as there was no reason it shouldn’t have gone through. They told me it would be a 15 dollar charge to do so. WHAT. Also, if I were to go online to pay, it would still be an additional 10 dollars. Anything outside of autopay, you’re being charged. Even if it was just due to a processing error! I then called back to get the mailing address to mail a check to, since that seemed to be the only way I would not be charged extra. I wanted to do the entire amount as I only had one more payment after this. When I told them they should expect the check to arrive by 4/19, they kept demanding some sort of confirmation number from my bank. I did it through bill pay that day, so it obviously wasn’t sent yet. In a nutshell, they are fine with you being on autopay, but also super fine taking extra money and making it really hard and discouraging you to make a payment in another manner. 0 out of 10, would not recommend.

Avoid at all cost. Easily the worst financial company I have ever used. They are antiquated and need to get with the times. Electronic money take minutes not weeks. Double payed a payment and am told it can take up to 16 business days to get my refund. Get real should take 2 days at the absolute maximum. This has happened twice by the way same experience both times.

DO NOT USE. the only financial institution worse than this one is navient. highway robbery is putting it lightly. they have no humanity, and no care that they purposely make things unclear to people so they can screw people over and not care. can not believe how ridicules this company is. my bank account is over drawn and have overdraft fees due to this company. if you are able to actually get through to talk to someone, they are not helpful at all. had to call 4 times before i got on the line with someone that could actually answer my question.

the worst thing that exists in financing, it’s impossible to communicate with them. and at the end i was paying 150% more than what they lent me. I don't know how to get out of this because they don't even answer the phone to make my last payment. I have been trying to communicate with them for months. the worst decision of my life. These people unprofessional and will rope you into paying them for services that they promise to do, but will not do. They are a scam and work with other companies to find financially uneducated people who give them some trust, only to watch this company rip them off with no compulsion about it. If you ever have a complaint, it's almost impossible to reach anyone at their offices, other then low level employees who's authorities are limited and restrained for that exact purpose (deny help). If you view the website, you will see that there isn't anyone person in charge of customer care directly. Do business with these people at your own risk. You were warned.

In my subjective experience, Vee was an excellent service agent, was super polite, had all of the relevant information, and was able to set up my SGB payment painlessly. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the reviews, however I am very satisfied with my time using Monterey Financial. Literacy is key, don't make agreements you can't conform to, and the process will be very smooth and straightforward. I applaud Vee for her efforts, agencies like this one need more of her.

WATCH OUT FOR THIS COMPANY. Get all the possible documentation when you pay, read the fine line.. involve an attorney if you have to. THEY'LL DO ANYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO GET MONEY FROM YOU, ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. Do not trust their word, ask for confirmation numbers, save all your receipts. My husband (his name is on their account) and I have never recieved a statement or bill for the past 3 yrs, they are just taking the money out of our bank account automatically each month. We have no idea what our balance us and the payment ID and CO ID are not ledgable as they have xxx's in the place of numbers. I will be going to my bank tommorow to stop payments.

OMG I wish I read the reviews before calling, they are completely fraud, they did not disclosed to me the contract and had me sign stating it would be a one time payment, even I called 3 days to cancel service, than they kept on calling to either pay or start school, if I decided to decline the school I have to pay the entire balance and over the balance. I am badly victim of this fraud, I have language barrier and they took advantage of this, I did request for translation to make it easier buth the rep was decking by saying we are almost done, plz don’t deal with this company , my credit is down because of them, I’m hurt and very disappointed for what they did to me, now they have me reliable for what I never knew about, plz don’t deal with them.

Stay away and just use your credit card! Purchased a $500 item and was enticed with low monthly payments from Credova credit. Wording for said loan was rather confusing with the term lease being thrown around. Signed up the account online and it turned out to be through Monterey. After reading negative reviews I decided to pay off the account since I'm worried about it ruining my credit. Could not get a hold of anyone at their toll free number. Ended making a online payment. Paid over $700 in not even a month and hopefully paid off. Can't get a hold of anyone to confirm. Will have to check online a few days later since their site is slow to update.

STAY AWAY!!!!! Having to make payments for career step and monetary takes care of all payments. Missed a few payments due to Covid and not being able to work, called a made a $1000 payment IN FULL DAY OF! Took awhile to come back up with that money! Today, called and explained my situation and Elizabeth said “why would you try and pay it if you know you didn’t have a good enough job for it?” ARE YOU SERIOUS!! These people know nothing of me, or my life! I’m furious! Not only that but my payment was for $4000 in one year. That’s $347 a month! That’s a lot. I’m not even paying in the principal amount at this point. Last month a payed $27 of the principal and the rest was interest. Stay far away from these loan sharks. I purchased a firearm through them and during my application I was informed that I had 12 months to pay them off. Fast forward a few weeks I google Credova and notice MFS has nearly the same website and number. After being hung up on by one rude customer service rep I get another rude customer service rep and she explains that if I didn't pay my balance in 3 days I'd be paying double by the end of my lease. I paid it, but they are very misleading when it comes to doing business. After I paid my balance they placed the entire balance of what it would have been had my missed my 30 day wince on my credit report. I'm not sure where they hire employees but they are extremely rude over the phone. Phone calls are recorded I doubt it cause that's the first thing they should address

Used this company thru online purchase(Credova), took awhile to close account and have quirky interest tabulations. The people I did have interactions with (phone/Email) were professional and prompt. Ultimately they did zero out my account, just took the full 12+days to do so. I might or might not use again, but definitely wouldn't go past the 90 days same as cash option.

Missed a payment, tried to make payment but their automated system only lets you pay the entire loan amount and the website says that my account will be reported for making a less than satisfactory payment. Doesn't even let me pay the past due balance, if you miss a payment they want the whole enchilada.

Look before you leap! I took out a loan via Credova thinking it was an easy, process. Then I see my account being deducted from “Monterrey Financial Services”. I borrowed $450, only to find out that my balance due was actually $1,010!!!! More than double what I borrowed! I understand that there are in the business of making money not losing it, but how much is enough? This type of deceitful, predatory lending need to stop! Until then, buyer beware! It’s better off to save your pennies when possible before you end up paying more than it’s worth.

Stay away from this company. IF you do end up getting a loan with them, don’t ever miss a payment. Your credit score will drop simnifically AND they charge like 78% interest, it is NOT WORTH IT!!! Hear me out, this service was available to help me finance my new puppy. If whatever you are using them to help finance, I promise you whatever it is will NOT be worth it. The trouble and inaccuracies that you will have to go through will not be worth it because you will deal with a confusion of dates of payments that will come out of your account. It will leave you clustered with random numbers that simply look like they threw random numbers together and called it a price. Secondly they unfortunately will change your account number a couple times as you should pray they have the correct numbers transferred from one to the next. Why should you have to babysit someone who is paid to finance for you?. Absolutely not okay. Another reason to not choose this financial system is the random interest rates on top of what you already owe. They bounce all over the spectrum more than it should. Thinking about making an early payment? Don’t do that. I had a balance of only $2.57 and tried to pay it right away before interest got the best of that number, went to go check my bank statements and BOOM. $12.57 charged because of an undisclosed service fee of $10.00. Please be ready to babysit your fees charged by this establishment if you do choose to finance with them :/

I attempted to contact them because my account is delinquentr, yes it’s delinquent because I have been unemployed, but I was attempting to make arrangements with them to bring my account current and they are making it IMPOSSIBLE! After over 2 hours on the phone I spoke with 4 representatives from Monterey who were saying my account was turned over to Flexpay & gave me their number to make the arrangements. Flex pay tells me Monterey still has the account! So after my 2nd call to Flexpay, I got a supervisor on the phone & called Monterey on a 3 way call so I could get it figured out once and for all! The Monterey rep wouldn’t discuss the account with the other party on the phone and still proceeded to tell me that Flexpay had the account, not them! Yes it’s my fault the account is delinquent but no one wants to take ownership of the account so I can pay it! Both Monterey Financial & Flexpay are horrible!!! Completely ridiculous!!

I had the unfortunate luck to have to get Elizabeth, ext 1830 as the one handling my account. She talks over you, asks really rude and invasive questions, wanted me to open a credit card so I could pay off my account, (which is medical debt, not something I choose to have), was trying to lecture me about answering my phone. Then when I called back and offered to make a payment she didn’t wanna take my money, and I had to get escalated to a different person who was perfectly nice and was able to work with me. I don’t usually lose my cool on customer service reps but I lost it on Elizabeth. I hope she finds a new job soon because she’s not good at this one.

This company has the practices that are boarder line preditorie leading. They did not ever answer the phone, I was only able to get a customer representative when I followed the promos to make a payment. I made a purchase for $600 from Credova and within a week it was sold to Monterey and over $1000 in interest was added on, my original agreement was for a 90 days same as cash agreement. Monterey needs to do a better job of following the rules and language set by the original companies that they buy debt from. My gut feeling was to accelerate my payments to avoid financial bondage, and I paid off the loan in 30 days. I would not do business with either company in the future. Credova lost business for selling the loan so quickly and there is really nothing good I can say about Monterey so I will leave that alone. #NotForThePeople #MotereyFinancialDoesNotCareAboutYou

They have attempted taking multiple payments out a month on dates that are not scheduled for it. Unprofessional. No one can keep the information for your account straight. You will find yourself calling them more to complain about their lack of accuracy than your own family. I have had to have payments reversed where they have tried to take out money when they arent supposed to then try to call you saying your payments are negligent when that's not the case. If you can avoid doing business with them...then I implore you to do so.

Unable to adjust your own autopay online, you must call in, and they cannot see payments you submitted online when you call in to see if you accidentally submitted a double payment. Technologically backwards. The phone people are polite, but other than that I would not recommend doing business with this company. Your experience will be lacking.

I believe everyone deals with Monterey Financial in different ways --- I only had to deal with them for a 90 day option to repay Credova for financing an expense. They are unorganized, everytime you speak with someone it is something new. I made sure I quickly paid it off so I wouldn't have to deal with them. I had 1 decent conversation with someone there. Other than that, ill never finance with Credova as long as they deal with Monterey Financial Services. Also their website is not the best, when it comes to seeing what you owe, what you have paid & etc. As of today, I'm glad it is over! The company I originally set up my loan through sold before my first payment was do, to this company. This company never sent me any info only phone calls from unknown numbers. I have still yet to receive any paperwork showing my account info etc. Also I paid off a huge chunk of my loan and they still havent updated my credit report. Be very careful of buying a firearm through this company. Pay cash, if possible. The amount you pay for a $500 gun will ultimately end up being $1025, which is horrendous. Never was there a APR on my contract agreement or was I made aware of the "lease" option of purchasing my firearm. This is a complete rip off to the purchaser and the population in general. Be very careful when you sign a finance contract on guns.com.

I’ve had an account with Monterey Financial for a little over a year now and I am very satisfied with their customer service. They have always satisfied my needs and are very easy to work with. Virna was VERY helpful and aided in helping me submit my one time payment to pay off my loan. Virna went above and beyond, she made sure I didn’t have any questions. Not only are they extremely rude but they call none stop hounding you for money, then when you try to call back to make a payment or update your payment info all u get is voicemail. If you ever go to Florida do not purchase with anyone who does financing through MONTEREY FINANCIAL SERVICES!!!!!!!!!!!. I spoke with Melanie about getting the access code to take my practice and final medical scribe exam via Career Step. Apparently, you can't get the code until you clear up any past due amount with Monterey Financial Services. In a nutshell, she advised me how to handle my account, processed my payment, and let me know how to handle any future payments, and what do if I needed assistance.

This company is very predatory with the way they conduct business. I initially took out a $400 loan through credova and have paid at least triple the amount of the principle. A payment of $40 was returned for NSF and I attempted to pay it again the next day. Instead I was met with a new payment amount of $100 as well as a late payment reported on my credit. I am now trying to pay off the loan completely and paid the additional $10 fee to process the payment. It has been 3 business days and my account balance remains the same and I am still receiving calls & emails about a past due payment. This is the worst finance company I have ever dealt with. If I had an option to rate 0 stars I would.

The retailer cancelled the contract and Monterey still debited my account. I called to inquire and was told I had to contact Cordova. Cordova stated they were notified about the cancellation. I'm 79 and I've been a business and sales consultant most of my life, until a very happy client hired me as the general manager of their fast growing high quality figurine manufacturing company in Southern California. I retired early in 2004 after 16 years and moved to Hawaii. I'm now a business lending consultant. I would have loved to have a few customer service agents like Janelle and Shaq :)

Absolutely awful service, I paid the full amount off last July, you would think that would be that. But instead of calling me and letting me know if there was any interest due (like they said they would), they let interest continue to build over months so I owed about 600 dollars more than I was supposed to.

This is the worst company. I used it to finance a dog i purchased but do to unforeseen circumstances i had to return the dog. I made the first couple payments and let them know that I had to return the dog if they could close the account because the already received the money back and they refused to close the account until I paid it off it full. UPDATE: Once I was finally able to talk to someone on the phone they told me that they were able to see my call attempts and that I logged in online several times and did take out the extra amount they were already charging, it’s very difficult to get to talk with someone but they did everything the right way! - I got a puppy financed with them just 1 month ago, I’m trying to pay it off and suddenly they want to charge me $5209 instead of the actual $2850 that the puppy was JUST ONE MONTH AGO, I haven’t been able to talk to someone about it because they NEVER answer the phone and they don’t return your call when you leave a message.

I use Monterey Financial for payment plans and they are by far, the WORST financing institution. Just to give you a little background, my current loan was originally for around $3,000. Monthly payments are about 230-240. What this institution does is charge you hidden fees for God knows what and will make your monthly bill fluctuate 10-15 dollars higher each month. Not to mention that my monthly payments are about 85% all interest and $15 percent principal. During my loan, I received a lawyer settlement after being involved in an accident. With that money I wanted to pay off my Monterey loan. After calling their terrible customer support line, I was told “we do not allow loan pay offs”. What? I can’t pay off my loan? HORRIBLE STAY AWAY!! i’ve had a account with them for 8 months now and then they randomly disappeared, they had deleted my account for I’m not able to log in. the account number they had gave me “ doesn’t exist”i’ve called over 20 times and left over 15 voicemails and never got a call back. the number they have on their website “ does not exist”. this place is a ABSOLUTE joke so just save your time & money and find a loan place that is actually real!

They don’t even deserve this single star. I called because the company charged me TWICE on a monthly payment, which I called the day of to get refunded for the second payment naturally. They told me it would take up to 10 days to get the refund. I did not receive this refund until 2 DAYS before the next payment was due in which they could have just kept the money at that point. This is just a scheme for them to ensure that there going to get paid even if they have to mess up others situation. Luckily I still had the funds but that’s just bad practice and messed up for anyone who doesn’t.

This place are a bunch of thieves!! I purchased my puppy through a puppy shop and was forced into using this company to pay off my dog. One day I was charged twice incorrectly, called for my refund 3 times and in a period of 3 weeks the refund never came in. Finally I called my bank and they gave me back my money in a period of two days. Fast forward to a month later when my payment was due for the puppy, I paid in full and on time to receive an email later saying that I had debt on my account (plus interest) ? I called and they explained to me that because I called them and the bank for a refund that I owed money for my dog. I then explained to them that the only reason I called the bank for my refund was because I never received the payment from the funding company. So logically they needed proof which I provided more than 5 TIMES. Faxed over my statements twice, and had a 3 way call with my bank and this company and all 5 + times it was confirmed that I never received my refund and needed that debt to come off my account before I get sent into collections. FOR A MONTH I would call every week and they would still ask me for more proof and more statements when I had already provided that to them! And they would still not take that debt off!! IN CONCLUSION, I was so fed up with this company I decided to pay off my pup in full and buy out my contract. I have never dealt with a company so willing to easily take your money but give such a hard time to give it back when it was their fault. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE AND TRUST REVIEWS!! THERES A REASON WHY THEY HAVE 1 STAR. If I can give them zero stars I would!

I used Credova to purchase a loading press. They advertised 6 months same as cash, but gave me 3 instead. I didn't make it before the 3 months was up. I called Monterey, the company Credova uses to collect their money, in May of 2020 to obtain the payoff amount to buyout the lease. They gave me a number, I paid that amount in full and assumed everything was taken care of. Fast forward to today, I try to apply for Credova financing again and get an error that I already have an open lease and have to pay it off before I can apply again. So I check Credova's website, it shows that payment made to Monterey in May of 2020, but there's a remaining amount of $470.10 showing, then it shows that amount was written off just eleven days after the alleged buyout amount was paid. The account shows a balance due of $0.00. Strange, right? So I checked the account on Monterey's website, it showed the exact same payment information, and that balance of $470.10 being left after the buyout amount being paid, and it showed it being written off eleven days later. It's been over a year since I paid my lease off with the information that Monterey provided, yet they never properly reported to Credova that I bought out and to close the account as paid. Now I have to fight them about it and it's 12:45am on a Saturday during Memorial day weekend, so nothing will be done until at least 6/1/2020.

I have a similar problem to many others who have shared their customer service experiences with Monterey Financial. I called on my husbands behalf to pay his bill for items purchased through a CREDOVA application that was less than 60 days after the items were purchased. The debt was bought out by Monterey Financial. My husband was told that financing with them would not “affect his credit score”. It states this on the website. He is 100% disabled with Soc Sec and 100% disabled Veteran. First of all this is unclear and misleading advertising. He did not comprehend what he was signing due to his disabilities. He financed the items to be paid out of my bank account. I knew nothing about this. Then it shows up on his credit report, hit three times and dropped his score by 100 points! We’re in the process of getting a mortgage! Then they falsely report a delinquent account. I called right away when I found out he had been duped and taken advantage of. I was trying to pay off the account. We were told he financed about $1500 and would make payments on the items each month. They told me he signed a “lease agreement” and didn’t even own the items. He was told he’d only pay the remainder for its original price, $1500. Well, when I called them to pay it I spoke with a rep who tells me that to settle the account for 75% of what is owed I have to pay them $2700 dollars. I told the rep this is not what my husband was told and she proceeded to inform me that it was in the contract signed. This was supposed to be financed not a lease agreement. I explained that I am not going to pay that astronomical amount and we are on a fixed DISABILITY income. The rep on the phone says well you have to pay that amount but it goes down each time you make a payment but the fact remains you owe about $3500 in total but we will settle the account for $2700 today only. After that we are stuck paying $3500.The rep then goes on to threaten to send it to collections and take legal action against us! I tell her you can’t garish disability income and we don’t have money in our budget to pay off the $3500. My husband did not comprehend what he read due to his disabilities and he didn’t consult me. I hoped the company would be compassionate and a little understanding and work with me. They were outright mean, rude, and nasty. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. Monterey financial services took over an account that was obtained fraudulently in my name. The original account was “loan hero” and they are now out of business but they claimed to be my loan company talking about loan consolidation at which I found out only a month later that they weren’t affiliated with my loan company at all and canceled the charges through my bank. When they went out of business (most likely bc they were scammy) they sold the account to Monterey financial services who harassed me until I made them a “no contact” but bc I did that they just started charging me interest until I called them. My “account manager” Polo Chavez was rude and argumentative and clearly doesn’t care who he’s working for and just wants the paycheck. Didn’t care the story I told him didn’t care about anything except that “I needed to pay now, I need 3,000 now.” Simply the worst customer service I have ever had and certainly didn’t help me and was callous as I was crying over the phone. If I could give them a zero...I would.

Can I give them zero stars. I financed my puppy which was 3000. If I would've not paid in a timely manner, I would have ended up owning 7 thousands and some change for my puppy. Monterey tried to say we hadn't payed our loan off when it was. We sent proof of payments from our bank account several times and kept being bothered by them. Then still wanted services money because the account was still open. An investigation was done by them an found that all payments were made. We still had to pay another 57 bucks for the account to be closed even though it wasn't our fault. Very un professional on there part. Better Business Bureau ought to be contacted.
