Meriweather Mowing Service Earlysville

I would recommend AGAINST hiring them for any services. Despite their above average prices, I used their services for 2 years and followed all the care and treatments they recommended for my lawn. You can see the end result in the picture. There are more weeds than grass in my front yard. When I called to point this out, rather than owning up to their failure, their response was to consider hiring another company. I took their advice and hired another landscaping company.

Since moving here 2years ago we have had trouble getting anyone here to provide any service and even to return calls. Meriweather answered email on the same day sent; they scheduled an estimate and were prompt. We agreed to have them take down a dead tree close to our house but had not scheduled. The wind was blowing today and Eric showed up at our door after 5:00 On a Friday to take down the tree because he didn’t want us to worry about it. WOW!!! I am blown away!

I don't recommend using Meriweather. My father who was a disabled Vet used them for over a decade and when his health was in decline I continued the service when he was hospitalized to keep up with the property. However the crew kept cutting less and less each time so that the property they had to mow got smaller and smaller, both around the edges and middle of the property. They damaged siding and drain pipes with the weedwackers as they didn't care. Even now with cold weather they are cutting the grass so short that they are trying to kill the grass since they are too lazy to raise the blades. I had to clear out the forest myself they created in the middle of the property by avoiding it and will need to re-seed and fix the damages myself as well. DON"T USE Meriweather at all. I had the managers come out and look at things and they basically just shrugged their shoulders and didn't offer any solutions to the problem. They were fired immediately after. Go with another company that actually cares about the quality they put out.

Always great service and reasonable prices. They love done mowing and mulching for us for several years, and we always renew their service.

We were not happy with the quality of the work done by Meriweather. When we complained, rather than trying to turn us into satisfied customers, they have simply continued hounding us for payment. Not a great way to run a small business.

When they first started cutting out grass, they did a good job. Now, they changed crews on us and the crew does not follow our instructions on how to come into our yard to cut the grass. They even removed our reflective stakes so they could get into our yard the way they wanted to. In doing so, they damaged/killed our garden we were trying to grow. After this season, we may be looking for another provider.

EDITED: The owner of the company happened to see this review and personally called to apologize. He was humble and polite and told me that he was going to get a check to us refunding us for the extra lawn mowing we never received and the late fee/service charge. His integrity in apologizing for the mistakes and wanting to make it right were impressive. He actually hand-delivered the check himself that very afternoon. We try to support small, local businesses and are willing to give them another chance come spring/summer. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We had a brand new baby this summer and were swamped with lawn mowing so we decided to hire Meriweather to do basic mowing for our yard beginning in August and ending at the end of mowing season in November based on a neighbor's recommendation. They were supposed to come every three weeks. The first mow was rushed and slopping, taking maybe 15 minutes and leaving large, noticeable swaths of yard unmowed. I called and said as much to the woman who answered my call, stating that we were tempted to cancel the contract based on the sloppy job, but that we would wait to see if they could make it right with the next mow before canceling. The second mow was great, the gentleman who came took his time and made sure we were happy with the job before he even left. Oddly, even though we wouldn't be due for another mow for another three weeks, the very next week a different gentleman came back to mow. I stopped him on his first pass and explained that someone had already come the previous week. He packed up and left and said that there was a mix up on the schedule and he was just following orders. Then we didn't hear from them or see them (or see evidence of subsequent lawn mowing) until middle October when we got a bill for two additional mows that had never occurred. I called in and spoke with the manager about how, not only were there two scheduled mows that DID NOT happen, but now we were getting billed for them. He implied that they came and I just didn't see evidence or wasn't being truthful about them coming. I explained that as a stay-at-home parent with three small children (who are GLUED to the windows whenever someone mows the lawn), I wouldn't have missed their coming and that the knee-high patches of grass would suggest that they had not been in a long time. He finally implied that it was my word against theirs and that they would take the two charges off the bill. We agreed on two more additional mows, which they did come on schedule to take care of. HOWEVER, we were still billed for one of the two times they didn't come. In short, poor communication, poor customer service, poor job mowing. Not a company I would recommend.

I called in the morning to get a mowing quote and by the time I got home from work at 3:00pm, it was in my mailbox. I called a few days later to schedule the mowing for as soon as they had available and they were here the very next day. They did an excellent job. I called D&D Lawn Care to get a quote on the same day I called Meriweather and they didn't come out until the same day Meriweather actually mowed our lawn. I thought Meriweather's prices might be a bit steep but D&D quoted the same thing. Will use Meriweather again.

The crew from Meriweather came out to mulch our yard for us yesterday. It looks SO much better and was done by lunchtime. The crew was prompt and friendly to boot. Very happy I called them.

Meriweather mowing had decent cut quality but missed a bit on the weed eating. Their prices were a little on the high side so switched to another local company (I switched to Albemarle Superwash & Lawn Maintenance and I got better quality AND better prices !. Bill
