Housing Action Council Broadway, Tarrytown

They have owned a house on my block for 7 years. It has been “on the market” with a for sale sign the entire time. Many people have gone through all the hoops they ask for and it’s never been sold. I don’t understand why? It has not been maintained in years. The front has vines growing up right to the roof. Something is definitely not right. Tax rolls say the county owns it. It’s tax free I guess because it’s owned by a nonprofit or the county. I bet a lot of application fees have been collected on this “for sale” house! Unbelievable!

My only concern is the Lottery for affordable apartments. Unfortunately you only have for example 40 units allocated for affordable and 800 applicants apply for the units. The probability of being 1-40 is so unlikely it will take several years before your name is call.

Like others have said applying is pointless. Their process is incredibly strange. I also feel there may be some unfair practices taking place.

Joel And Kevin go above and beyond. Their helpful nature exceeded my expectations exponentially! I want to personally thank you, I have a beautiful service dog and we both will not have a home soon. They have given my pup and I much hope,and without hope and Joel and Kevin’s positive nature I would feel lost. Very grateful and I highly suggest working with them ! perhaps they deserve a raise ;) they actually CARE to help, which is often lacking in this world recently. Thank you both and genuine feel both deserve a raise. A lot of people I’ve dealt with donor care. Just one other person who also cares deeply about people who need help. Much love and light ! Very small staff so customer service is limited

Ok I must stay the process is very long and tedious and it is not for people who needs apartment ASAP. I have been lucky to have my Number called. I received call for the White plains, the chappaqua and the Harrison location for white plains the rent was too much and for the Harrison which o loved was way too small. I’m now at the top of the New Rochelle listed just waiting for notification from them. Please understand they always mail out your lottery numbers. Maybe if the have system that people can see where they are within the lottery number then a lot would feel more comfortable.

I applied at three locations when my son had cancer and I lost my house in 2004. Never acknowledged our application. After he died in 2006 I applied again at two places - never approved as of 2022. On waiting list for two decades? Really? Just applied for Katonah left 4 messages about my application that’s postmarked. That was returned. Not a call back. They have no respect for people. They treat you as you are beneath them. Disgraceful work ethics. Definitely should be audited for discriminatory practices against disabled applicants. I will be calling a lawyer when I have a moment.

I’ve been applying since 2017, maybe 7 or 8 different sites and only received 1 response which mentioned my waitlist number. That was only after I sent an inquiry advising that I had never received confirmation or correspondence from them even after providing them with all of my personal documentation and money!

Spent $30 on an application fee and days gathering documents just to be ghosted by these goofs. Don't bother.

Dont understand the previous reviews must be insider. This Council is a full fledged Racket. Dont waste your time, I have been applying for over 8 years and Nothing. These people have a Racket, you cant get any Housing with them, and im not disgruntled, try and you see,they let you go all the way through then they change things when you send them ALL your information, Be careful this might just be a Database gathering program and they probably give their own family and friends the housing units YOU been applying for all along.
