The park itself is beautiful. But some of the campsites, ours included, were completely unusable. Our site was on a steep hill. Food and drinks just rolled right off the picnic table provided because the incline was too steep. Our camping chairs were unusable because we didn't have a flat surface. And we kept rolling off our air mattress in our tent for the same reason. Other sites I'm sure have flatter surfaces. But we would not return to this one.

Very beautiful camp site. The rangers are very helpful here, they help/provide information you needed. We were prepare for rain before visiting the site but we ended up camping in little snowing weather in the beginning of April 2022. Still it was worth kids loved it.

Not a bad campground, but every site is jammed together. I have a campervan and on the 2 nights I stayed here I couldn’t find a somewhat level spot. Pretty forest and the facilities are ok. If you have the choice, opt for Diamond O. It’s just outside the park, about a mile north of entrance to hogs den, but way nicer. I didn’t even see the neighbors it’s so well laid out. Plenty of water outlets also.

A little far from the main attractions, but you're right next to the entrance of Yosemite which is convenient. It was great to find a campground with bathrooms and running water that had availability. Just don't expect much privacy here. They pack lots of campsites into a small area and it's always near 100% occupancy.

Worst campground I've been into! Very crowded and limited toilets for the number of people. There is no soap in the toilets and they are very filthy! Very noisy at nights especially for people who want to sleep early and want to start an early hike the next day. Our tent site did not have an even area for setting up the tent so we had to sleep on a side sloped. There is no privacy, we had to pass other people sites to get to the road! We could not even use our hammock, not to mention there was no scenary to look for. Water station was discussing, I did not have my cell to take a picture unfortunately!

Camp hosts were super helpful mid a medical emergency, came back after to check on us. The campground it self is OK, it has potable water and flushing toilets, bear boxes and fire rings. There is no camp fire wood for sell at the site but you can find it with a 10 minutes drive downhill on the 120 hwy. Camping spots are incline which makes it difficult for roof top tents and RVs but is doable.

We recently stayed 4 nights at the Group A site. I would only recommend staying a group site here as the individual sites are packed like sardines on top of each other and offer very little level ground. There is one faucet that services the ENTIRE campground (very poorly planned). It is located in the bathroom closest to the campground entrance. The group campsites are spacious and feel more secluded. Note that this campsite is also about a 40 minute drive to the Yosemite valley.

I spent the weekend at campsite 84. I enjoyed the park but was disappointed they left the light on at the entrance. I wanted to see stars and with the light pollution I wasnt able to. The bear locker was quite large and the only downside of this specific campsite was the closeness to the neighboring campsite. However the campground is near the entrance which makes a great location. There is a gas station 2 miles away which is nice if you forget something.

We spent 3 nights in this campground, and I couldn't wait to leave. The campsites are cramped in and a constant stream of people walking through your site, and they are not polite about it. They talk loudly and shine flashlights into your tent. The campground was slanted, I kept waking during the night to move back up the bed. Our second day there while eating breakfast we had kids running through our tent site playing football. And forget about sitting around the fire at night relaxing, kids screaming makes even having a conversation difficult. The campfire smoke seems to hang in the air leaving the whole campground shrouded in smoke. The host is not pleasant, he would rather harass people going about their business then telling parents to have a bit more control of their children. We have previously camped at Yosemite creek campground, a first come site, vault toilets, and no running water only creek water. We would go back there over Hogdon campground anytime.

This is actually a much nicer campground than any in the valley. It is quiet and surrounded by woods, and some of the sites even have some privacy. The walk-in sites, as others have mentioned, are on a steep incline and we saw many people struggling to find a flat spot for their tent. One other huge inconvenience (no fault of Hodgdon, but of Yosemite's policies) was that we had to change sites three times because that's all we could get (one night per site), and then there was nowhere to leave our food because there was no communal bear box at the campground. Frustratingly, the sites we moved from were never occupied but we didn't know if someone might show up because they have no access to cancellations and MANY people don't show up to their site. I would recommend our first site, 19 which is a walk-in but is more private than some. 1 and 2 also looked good. The best part about this site is that it is well located for visiting both the valley and tuolumne meadows!

Very quiet and we'll maintained campground. Clean restrooms. No showers. 30 minutes from the valley floor, so a much more quiet setting. Many campsites are sloped and prone to flooding if the weather turns wet Fyi.

Decent campsite. Had really bad neighboring campsite who cursed every other sentence and didn't understand quiet voices. The sites are WAY to close together. And leads me to the worst part: there's no discernible way to distinguish camp sites from where they start and where they end. Obviously, you don't have a line or anything, but they could have a done a better job making it more clearly laid out. Even the camp host snapped at my wife after going to the bathroom and accidentally walking through the camp host site. Won't be back.

Stayed at site 10 for 3 nights and it was great! We had a 8'x8' tent and there was plenty of room for others. A slight slope, but the rear corner was ideal. The storage locker had plenty of room for our two totes, cooler and packs while we were away/asleep. We also took advantage of the picnic table set up in our site. The bathrooms were fully stocked and clean and only about 50 yds away. The drive to the valley was about 40 min each morning, longer during the day due to construction. Downside, the incline up to our car, but it kept our site fairly private.

Great campground with very friendly, helpful rangers, clean bathrooms, and nice campsites. Bring a shower bag and tent with some earth friendly soap so you can shower and make sure you always keep unattended food in your bear boxes. My one and only complaint would be there was no dedicated water spigots other than the bathroom sinks, but we made it work and used them for shower, dishes, and drinking water. Bring some water containers to transport water to your campsites from bathrooms. Definitely will return to this campground!

STOP! Don’t come here! Worst campground I’ve ever seen. There are over 80 campsites. Should only be 40 and that’s pushing the space. Your neighbor’s tent is five feet away. You have to be in a circle and look at each other if you wanted to just relax- which of course you can’t! If other people’s tents five feet from you aren’t bad enough, people have to walk through your site to get to their site. Big disappointment!!! Ridiculous! One star is being generous.

We have been going to Yosemite for 37 years. When the kids were young the Valley was the place to go because there is much to do. As years went on, the Valley got too congested (even off season). We switched to Hodgdon Meadow and love the peace and quiet. If you need to go to the Valley for a shower or just to view the beautiful falls or hiking.... 25 miles is not that far to go and the drive is beautiful.

I have to start off by saying that I love the NPS, their work is amazing and truly invaluable. But if I would have known before, backpacking would have been a far better choice than staying here. It feels like they have forgotten about actual campers and instead are giving more attention to Trailers/RVs. Tilted ground. We stayed in site 16 and it was a sloped hill, along the entire campground you can see how tents are setup crooked and not because of lazy or unaware campers. The area designated for our tent was at the bottom of this slope as well as the two sites on each side. We had a night of mild but steady rain and you can only imagine how the water ran down the hill straight to the tents. I can't possibly imagine who was in charge of the design and layout of this area and even approved !?!? How can you go and hike a full day or even tour around and go back to your crooked home...having a proper sleep is a basic necessity when out camping and you can only achieve that with a firm-flat ground. We had planned to do a full day hike the next day but we ended up leaving mid day with only a few hours of sleep. Oh and there's no showers. And no hot water. And no designated place to wash dishes.

I don’t know why this campground catches so much negativity! Beautiful campground with friendly rangers. Some campgrounds are placed on hills so this can cause some difficulty when setting up your campground. Other than that they had everything you needed. Bathrooms were usually clean and well stocked with toilet paper. Went during summer and even with many other campers around the campground was always quiet and peaceful.
