Great Lakes Pawn is absolutely PHENOMENAL!! I previously purchased a laptop from another location and was informed that my motherboard was now dead. I thought that I would need a new laptop and was hoping Great Lakes Pawn could help me. Ivan asked if anyone had seen my laptop and I informed him that I got a diagnosis over the phone. He took it apart and got it working in about 5 minutes!! Not only did he save me from having to spend more money, but when I offered to still pay him for his time he politely declined! Some places care about making a quick buck, but Great Lakes cares about meeting the clients need. I appreciate them and see that they truly care about helping every single person that walks through their doors.I will definitely be back and I will be referring others to them as well!! =)

This is the best pawn shop I have ever been to. I had an object I paid about 500$ for and the pawn shop offered me way less then that, it turned out I way over paid for the object when I bought it from another store. Tim from Great Lakes Pawn actually help me return my Item to the original store and get my money back. I Love this Pawn Shop.

Very friendly staff. Fair on their prices. I tried to sell a gun I bought and they found out that I was over charged so they helped me return it to the gun store I bought it from for a full refund. They told me what to do and say and it worked. They also try and give you the most they can when you pawn, and if you do a lot of business with them and they know you'll be back to pick up your pawn they will give you more then the item is worth. They helped me out so many times. Best pawn shop I have ever been to.

I have been in and out of Great Lakes for about the past year. And the staff and management team are usually courteous and helpful. Recently, however, things have changed due to a layaway that I had planned to finish purchasing. I was given a call from the staff notifying me that I could make a payment to keep the item current, unfortunately I am unable to complete the purchase. So, I took the time to travel to the store and notify them. And then requested a refund, less the restocking fee. I was shocked when I was informed that my money would only be refunded in the form of instore credit. The store manager ,Ivan,explained to me that it was all in writing on my original receipt, so not having it handy I left the store. When I did come across the original receipt I quickly realized that I had been lied to. The "store credit " disclaimer is no where on the receipt. So I call the store back and speak with Owen concerning this missing disclaimer. And now he informs me that Ivan, who is the manager of daily operations, was not correct about the disclaimer printing. But it's on another paper, the purchase receipt not the layaway receipt So I'm stuck trying to get my money back, less the restocking fee that is normal from these guys. I offered a restocking fee not them, and they both Ivan and Owen are quick to remind me that it was a courtesy to even notify me. Funny, had I came in to give up more money than there would not have been any issue with the "courtesy call" and we would all be happy and holding hands right now. But because money for once seems like it may not stay in the building now it's an issue. Suddenly Ivan isn't around and has his subordinates calling me to say that he has left for the day and it would be a waste of time for me to travel to the store. Really? That's the only reason I gave Great Lakes 2 stars. I would not recommend any layaway business, and make sure that if you do get the policy in writing or a pdf file. Since it seems so difficult for the manager and staff to recall the policy.

This place is awesome. I stay more than 26 miles from the livonia location and I drive there when I need to pawn my things. The service alone deserves a 5 star rating. They give out a lot more cash than any other pawn shop in the metro area. # great lakes pawn I'd where it's at.

I am a consistent consumer/purchaser of loose diamonds and gold bullions. Whenever I'm ready to sell my assets, I choose this place and I literally am reimbursed either dollar for dollar or more than retail price for the items that I am selling. I really love this place! Zeidmans who! American Jewelry and Loan what? This is the place to be! Very experienced in gems and fine metals, and whatever they lack experience in (palladium), they tell you instead of pretending to be educated in that area (like Zeidmans) and give you bottom dollar. Love them for their honesty also.

I brought in a piece of white gold that i thought it was silver, and they were honest to tell me it was gold. They gave me an awesome price. Everyone in there was professional and the store was very clean, it did not look like a pawn shop at all. Definately would be a returning customer.

This place is a sham. First off, the business is run by twenty-something year olds with bad attitudes and poor business ethic. Also, I was told my items were in great condition but they could not accept the items I had brought in, although these items were clearly listed on their site under acceptable items. Also, while in their. I overhead another gentleman's conversation with one of the employees. The employee had scratched his gold to test if it were real. Following this, the employee told the gentleman that he could not give him a reasonable price because the gold had been scratched -- in the spot that he had just scratched it! I will never return.

Needed some money for some gold and was offered only 21 a gram by 14k pawn, decided to go to Great Lakes pawn and was offered 31 dollars a gram. Way closer to what I was looking to get and you don’t feel ripped off when doing business with them. Great place.

I found a specialty item on Craiglist and needed the item shipped and with the help of Chris one of their employees it was able to happen. They even took the time to drive it to the local UPS store to be boxed and shipped. Thank you Chris & any other employees for taking the time to "care". This is how business is run!
