The employees and customer service at Gene's pawn on Rivers Avenue is second to none. This especially goes for Ms Rhonda. She not only helped me with my problem but she got me more money than expected. Rhonda treated me with respect and she truly cared. She treated me like family.

I go into Gene’s in North Charleston often, and Karrie is always there and knows how to treat a customer! She’s always smiling and ready to help anyone who walks through that door! It’s always really clean too! Unusual for most pawn shops! If you ever need anything, Go see Karrie at North Charleston Genes!

I have got to tell you that this is one of my favorite pawn shops in Charleston. The folks their personalize each customer giving them their 100% attention. There is a very nice and friendly associate there by the name of Rhonda. She is always smiling every time I go in their. She is not only very cordial and respectful but she is also Super helpful. One of the nicest people you’d ever want to meet! Go three and see her, she’ll take good care of you. She always makes my visit a pleasant one! Truly a Star in Awesome Customer Service!!!

I sold my 12 guage Mossberg pump action shotgun to Gene's 9 years ago. They gave me $400 for it. I had a little over $600 invested into it with special tactical laser/light combo. I bought a watch and a battery box on two other occasions. Always a pleasant experience while doing business with their professional staff.

Junior is the best. He always treats our family great. I went there and purchased some goods from Junior. He has great customer service. My wife buys all of her jewelry from them. Junior thank you so much for always going the extra mile. Thank you Gene’s for hiring good staff members.

I’m a very well know customer of Gene’s .. Sharonda An Michelle they work at the North Charleston location there very awesome . The have awesome customer service , they know me as a customer by name an face . If I have to call the location an one of them answer the phone they know my voice. Tell me that’s not awesome customer service . They take the time to get to know there customers an there needs . They both get you in a out at a reasonable time frame . As long as these ladies are employees with Gene’s I will continue to be a customer . I couldn’t have it no other way .

I don't usually review places unless I am either completely blow away by something or someone, or the opposite. In this case I just had to let everyone know how amazing of an employee Malkam is. Now we've come in twice now and both times he has been extremely helpful, with a smile on his face. The first time. He helped us pick out a ring for me. The 2nd time I walked in right after the shop opened. And not only was Malkam the 1st person to approach me. But he was able to help me find exactly what I was looking for, in under 5 minutes. Then he walked with me around the store and was ready to point me in the direction of almost everything on my shopping list. And then on to the next item. By far the best service I think I've gotten just about anywhere by any one individual. And by the time I left the store, I was in a better mood and more awake than I was prior, even AFTER the morning cup of coffee. If you go in this store at any point. I hope yall get to meet Malkam.

I have never been impressed more by a pawn shop or more surprised about what a clean neat store they had. On top of that Karrie was amazing and Beyond helpful even though she knew I wasn't purchasing anything that day. She actually offered to follow up with me and contact me when the items are looking for where available.

Gene's Jewelry & Pawn on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston is one of my favorite pawn shops in the area as they have a really good selection and variety of different items available for good prices. It is worth coming back here to see all of the newer items that they get in. I have had a really good experience every time I have been here.

Receive great awesome service when I went into the store from Shay and Grace, they did everything and wouldn't stop until she could repair a necklace of sentimental value. Due to past experiences, I was very wary about choosing to pawn several items from a small collection of coins I had. While other places gave me a cookie-cutter loan estimate on pieces with no research. The excellent staff at Gene's changed my mind. Each item I submitted for a loan was carefully researched to ensure a fair price. And it is always done with a smile and a friendly, helpful, non-judgemental attitude. Karrie and Sharhonda took such good care of me when I brought several coins in. I walked in worried and a little desperate, but these ladies are marvelous!! Customer service at its finest! They both took such good care of me, carefully explaining the process and saved the day, at least for me. 😁 I was so pleased when I left. This is my go to place from now on!

I love genes genes Jewerly and pawn if I need a lil extra cash I get top dollar compared to other places. If I have extra money to spend I always get what I want at the price I want to pay! I love Gene's pawn shop. Every time I visit I get great deals and have a personal favorite Sharhonda is exceptional at finding all the items I'm looking for. She goes above and beyond if they do not have what I want, she will call me when they do. The staff is pretty nice those who know me may refer to me by name. Great shop. Doesn't feel ghetto when you go into it (doesn't feel like a pawn shop) it's nice on the inside and out, also the staff are awesome. I have been on both the selling and buying side of genes and they are all very nice people. Michelle helped me with a radio, amp, and subwoofer and I couldn't be happier. I couldn't get the amp to work so I took it back in and come to find out it had the wrong sized fuse and they found the problem assisted in helping with my problem and not one but 2 people took thier time to see what was wrong with it. If you give the store a bad rep you have to either be lying and or didn't get what you wanted and got rude. I would work there I like the environment and people so much!!!

The people here are an absolute BLESSING! I came in with my son and i was selling my watch to get baby stuff. At first they offered a small amount, i spoke with the manager, told her the reason why i needed the money, and she not only bought my watch but doubled what she was giving me due to my reason for selling. PLEASE SELL/BUY HERE!! They will work with you as long as you're respectful. I prayed for them once i got outside. They really went out their way for me. THANK YOU GENE'S PAWN SHOP!

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My friend bought me an $800 bracelet from here. The bracelet was too small, so I decided to return it in exchange for something else. I gave them the receipt and proceeded to check out. The clerk pulled up his name, then the manager came over and said that my friend would have to be present. Why? I have the receipt. Make it make sense. I left the store, and my friend went back. The manager told him they could no longer honor the exchange bc it had been over thirty days. They failed to mention that to me when I was there. They failed to mention that to him upon purchasing the bracelet. There is no mention of the return policy on the receipt. It was verbally said to him that if he returned the bracelet, he would not get a refund but could exchange the bracelet for something else. The manager did offer to repurchase the bracelet for $300 (shame on you) and the clerk that sold the bracelet said that would mess up my commission. She's more worried about her commission than customer satisfaction. My friend would no longer be doing business with this company. We are in a world riddled with covid so everyone can't get there in 30 days.

Went in shopping for a gun. Lacey W was more than helpful. She was knowledgeable about everything they had in stock. Spent genuine time with me picking up and trying out different pieces until we found the perfect fit. I'll definitely be returning. Thank you for all your help!

Only giving one star because i have to. They tried to scam me on some video games i was trying to get a loan on. First they wanted to trick me into selling them. Heard the manager tell the girl to not even enter half of the games in the stack because they were only paying for the other half. When i told them i just wanted a loan they only offered $15 for all 8 games saying they were too old even tho AC Valhalla isnt even a year old and sells for no less than $45 preowned. Will never get my business again and will recommend everyone to stay away from these con artists.

Been to a number of pawn shops over the years. A friend of mine let me know Gene's might have something I was looking for. Was definitely impressed by the organized layout and friendly professional staff. My wife and I had the pleasure of being helped by Renee. She did a great job of helping us and anything she couldn't do she got the right person immediately. Ended up going back later the same day with my daughter and Renee did it again. Great service and friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

So I started the day going to local pawn shops looking to see if I could get a good deal on some Apple products. I was surprised to learn that most pawn shops don't deal with Apple products at all but pleased to learn that Genes did buy and sell previously owned Apple Goods. Met an amazing associate named Karrie who is very helpful and informative. Although they did not have what I was looking for today I was very impressed by the amount of knowledge she had , her offer to know what I wanted, offer to follow up with me and her overall personality. I will definitely be keeping in touch with her and visiting genes in the future. Not only do they carry Apple products but offer layaway for no extra charge. I feel like my future relationship with Genes will be a win-win for both of us.

Very easy process. Everything explained upfront. Walked in and out in less then 10 minutes. Kerrie is awesome, she explained how everything works. First time experience with a pawn store. They also have lots of nice merchandise available to purchase.

This is an awesome store. We bought two used bikes from here, great condition, fair price and the best customer service. We were helped by Junior and he accomodated all our needs, even helped us load the bike into the van in the end.

Everybody was super nice and helpful. I bought a chainsaw today and the starter pull cord broke as soon as I got home. It's not their fault the cord broke and they didn't sell me faulty equipment. It was definitely on me for yanking too hard. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. I'll definitely go back if they have something I'm looking for.

The repair they did for me "who they say out sourced the repair" stole some of my gold. I wouldnt recommend letting this pawn shop do any kind or repairs in my opinion I had it repaired else where for more money. I love how upbeat the atmosphere is. Everyone always has a great attitude. Very helpful towards the customers. Mostly importantly, the management team is AWESOME! They make you feel like a person, not just a transaction.

The assistant manager michelle is very un professional, given that fact when you call on the phone to ask a question she has this attitude the tension in her voice is very disturbing cause your expecting friendly customer service, and i feel that i didnt get that. By being in a position that requires you to up hold certain standards and i feel that she clearly doesnt have that and my second experience with this company really not a good one but its not the company itself but the person that represents the company.

I do not know who the new lady is that is making the decisions here now. It is not the very nice & fair Caucasian lady that it used to be. But not only is her attitude poor. The insult in prices is just ridiculous! I've done a lot of business with this place & as soon as this lady start making decisions the experience has been horrible. I should've learned after the first experience with her. But trying to be loyal I came back & truly regretted it. Needless to say there are many other pawn shops that WILL offer you a FAIR price. Unless you are desperate & will take anything then by all means go here. She treats us like we are addicts or something. Shay is great though, too bad she isn't the one in the other ladies position cause she is fair. Took my item to another place in West Ashley & got twice what she offered. One thing I know whether you believe in GOD or not. He sees all & does not take to kindly to those that cheat people. I came in today pretty green at the pawn game. I did a little research before going into Genes , especially since I’m new in town and decided it was the best place to sell some old silver jewelry. I did read before going in that silver wasn’t worth much right now so I knew I wouldn’t get much but just needed to clean things out of my closet. I just want to say that Karrie and Junior made my first pawn experience easy and positive. They were honest and friendly every step of the way. I even left applying for a job there!
