First Bank of Ohio Reviews
B
As I can see, you already have a list of bad reviews. However, I would like to include my experience. My deceased Father had a loan with this bank. As someone who is 26 (25 when this started), I did not expect my Father to pass. Yes, his death at 49 years of age, was very unexpected. I had no idea how to handle an estate/probate. The steps involved, the process, taking over payments for the deceased person - these are only a few things on my list. I find it rather interesting your customers cannot get in touch with you. Mostly because John use to call me every other day, every week, and every month. He even called me on weekends. He would ask me questions I had no answers too. I gave him updates every week, until I was fed up with the consistent calls. John even freaked out, thinking he wasn’t getting a payment for the loan. He told me I needed to make a payment, even though, it was not my responsibility. I had proof from the lady who took over my Father’s loan, that she was making payments. Your bank tried taking DOUBLE payments. I had no idea it was illegal for him to contact me during probate. I assumed someone finally told John, because he stopped calling me. So, instead of harassing me, he began to harass the individual who took over my deceased Father’s loan. Threatening her he was going to take the title back if they did not receive the documents needed to prove I was the administratrix. This is where I plug in Ross. I’m not sure if he is affiliated with the bank, but he was the person in charge of switching the title from my deceased Father, to the new owner. I had to ask him multiple times what documents he needed. He has no idea what documents he needed. For your employees knowledge, you need a death certificate, and the proof of administration signed and sealed by the judge. I have changed over five titles during probate - the process is not this complicated. I would suggest you do not threaten your customers. After being in my Father’s probate for almost a year, I am tired. Change your company morals, or your employees. At this rate, I would be surprised to see your bank still afloat.

It’s been over 6 months no one has responded to a single phone call or email or fax. All i need is my title transferred from pa to oh and they can’t seem to do anything. I’ve called the title office and every branch they have throughout Ohio and still have yet to get a single response from anyone. At this point they aren’t holding up to the finance agreement I can’t even drive my vehicle because I don’t have valid plates so why should I pay my loan when they can’t take care of basic paperwork or even answer my questions. Hands down the worst financial institution I’ve ever dealt with and I will be calling the BBB and and refinancing through a more reputable bank.

Very hard to get ahold of them, no one answers, voice-mails don't get returned. Have tried for 1 MONTH to get lien release on car that I paid off 2 yrs. ago (requested mailed to me, then faxed, then mailed to new owner and NOTHING. Never received it after paying car off because they had address wrong yet during COVID when I was deathly ill and in and out of hospital n missed ONE payment they had no problem mailing me multi threatening/nasty letters saying they had right to come and get car at any moment or raise APR 10%.) Fees fees fees on top of that. Would recommend to NO ONE

Worst bank I have had to ever deal with. Reading through the other reviews, everything that I have read is what I have expected as well! No one answers the phone, when they do answer the phone there isn’t any help or apology for not being able to help. They do not return phone calls. My mom died and they put a “death hold “ on her checking and savings accounts even though I am on her account and there was no estate because of the way she had things set up. As soon as I get her account off the “death hold “ the accounts will be closed !! Avoid this bank !!

Typically I wouldn't write a review if it wasn't positive... however this experience has been so frustrating that I believe it's necessary to voice. I would not work with this company from an auto financing perspective if at all possible. My husband and I financed a vehicle back in October with FBO and it has been nothing short of a headache since from a customer service perspective. This company is impossible to get a hold of and once you do, the follow-up and record keeping on their end is subpar. An issue that should have been easily rectified in February is still not resolved two months later since adequate notes were not kept from the history of phone discussions. I continue to call, leaving messages and have not received a call back. Very frustrating and very unprofessional in my opinion.

Worse bank we have ever ever had to deal with, do not answer phones or call people back. Paid loan off and almost a month later no payoff paper work or title, had to drive an hr and not budge in the drive trough until someone gave the paperwork so we could get a title ,,, will NEVER EVER deal with this pace ever again !!!!!

This bank can literally go f itself. I tried for 3 weeks to make a payment. I had to deal with Stephanie in the loan department who told me she was too busy for me and then hung up on me when I asked to speak to her manager. Cannot get a hold of anyone, cannot get an email to confirm online payment, nobody answers the phone in ANY department etc. Overall 0/5 would not recommend and I am refinancing later today. Absolutely unbelievable and here's to hoping this bank goes the way of the dinosaur.

Worst "bank" I have ever dealt with. I'm attempting to simply payoff my loan and no one answers the phone. Not even the main loan person. Nor do they respond to voice messages. What a joke

Have my car loan through them. Antiquated software. Hardly anyone can help you. The online portal for payment is a joke to use. The list goes on. Go through someone else if you have the chance.

Apparently they don't even want my husband's payment, locked him out of account and won't answer the phone or return message. Maybe if they want paid they should make payments acceptable! Get it together and fix your customer concerns. Absolutely ridiculous.

We paid off two vehicles in March 2022. One was through our credit union and we received the title in a couple of days. The other loan was through First Bank of Ohio and they did not send the title. They will not answer the phone at all, as others are stating. They will not call you back. They will not email you back. I finally got ahold of a teller today (because the loan option, they won't answer), and the woman told me that they are "electronic" titles and that I have to go to the Title Bureau to get my title. In other words, they aren't sending it and they want you to go file for a replacement Title. They are straight up liars and should be shut down. I filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General this morning and advise everyone who has had this kind of experience with this business to do so.

O out of 5 stars. Like so many other reviewers, I've had nothing but issues reaching their customer service to rectify a payment issue. Their antiquated and convoluted website & online bill payment system is frustrating and confusing to navigate. I've tried calling the main office multiple times to pay my bill but no one picks up the phone. I will either pay off my loan entirely or refinance to a different bank. I've never had to work so hard to pay someone their money before! If you have options to go elsewhere, I encourage you to do so!

This was unfortunately the only bank I was able to get a car loan from. Their website is, quite frankly, trash. Its difficult to navigate, and not clear how to really do anything. I was trying to get my loan statement for personal matters and there was absolutely no way of doing that online. I called every phone number and tried every option on the automated lines to try and get ahold of someone for additional assistance and I never got an answer, and was always sent to a messaging system. I literally spent 2 hours doing this. I would absolutely not recommend doing business with them - the customer service is terrible and untrustworthy.

I purchased a motorcycle off of a friend of mine who had a loan through this bank. He has all the paper work saying it was paid in full and gave me the title when he finally received it. I went to the DMV to get it switched into my name and they told me this bank has a lien or hold on the title. That it is only half way filled out and they sent it to him and never notarized it so technically he couldn’t sell it if he wanted to. Now he has called them and they told him they will send him a release in 7 days, I waited. After 7 days I called them and they told me 21 days, I waited. I’m now 2 1/2 months in and they won’t answer my calls, his calls or even the lawyer I have for this situations calls. NO ONE TRUST THIS BANK.

Unorganized, poor customer support and professionalism. Been waiting on a call back for three weeks after trading in my Kawasaki Terex because they still haven't provided the needed information to the dealership to pay off the loan balance. I have called and left voicemails at several locations as well as the dealership and neither one has received the needed information. Almost impossible to speak to an actual person.
T
literally the worst bank to ever finance through. they forced placed an insurance on my car when my mom showed them proof of insurance that we already had. they are rude, unprofessional, and just overall horrible. i’ve tried calling and after one ring, my call got declined. :)) 0/5 stars if possible. also talked to the manager. she was very rude as well. this bank can go to hell.
H
Paid my loan off after 7 months calling everyday to no answers, titles are "electronic titles" they never did paper titles. So now I cant get paper titles because they refuse to answer their phone so I can attempt to get the correct paper work from them... NEVER using this place again.

This is a criminal organization. They will hold you hostage in your loan even after you paid the entire amount off. Never seen any organization act in such an unprofessional manner.

Absolutely terrible customer service, in fact their response time is by far the worst I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I had to contact another person from an entirely separate branch in order to even get in CONTACT with them. I was in-between jobs and needed to file for an extension payment with which the documents I was unable to receive until the very last day of the grace period, which I signed and e-mailed that day and was told I would not be charged a late fee if the grace period was exceeded due to their delinquency in handling things. They then charged me a late fee despite the fact that I attempted contacting the bank nearly a week before the grace period even began. Due to their delinquency in handling matters, I was charged an extra $50. Unbelievable.. It's a wonder this bank is still even in operation. In total, it took them 3 weeks before I got a call from the lady I dealt with from the other branch for her to tell me they're charging me a late fee anyways. It blows my mind that this bank even has any customers at all not only based on the fact that there are so many terrible reviews, but the way I was treated and LIED to.
