Predatory banking practices. Imagine signing a kid up for a premium checking account, knowing that his job is only for the Summer, keeping him on said account after direct deposits stop, and continuing to charge him $20.00 a month without even notifying him, or giving a full refund. Just go to a credit union or something.

There is a very long story about the negative and continuous relationship Asheville Savings bank chose to have with me. I have worked with a half dozen banks both personally and professionally and I have never been treated so poorly. Long story short, because I needed banking services beyond just cashing a check or using the ATM, I was essentially kicked out of the bank. In my opinion I was treated like a criminal. I am traditionally a huge fan of regional banks and that is why I chose to bank with ASB when I moved to Asheville. If you just want to cash a paycheck or open a CD, then I am sure this bank can help you. But if you plan on using more than the bare minimum banking services then I would look elsewhere.

I have had nothing but premier treatment at Asheville Savings Bank. They have gone out of their way to make me feel like a valued customer. The staff is competent and the wait is not long if you ever need to speak with a banker. Their fees are much less than the big banks, plus you get personal attention. They now have my personal and my business accounts.

Used to be a great bank. But, now you go to one of the newly acquired locations and get treated like a second class citizen. Go with a credit union, First Bank is just a Wells Fargo pretending to be a local bank.
