First American Bank 75th St, Salem

I’ve had a personal banking account for years. I recently opened a business account. The business side has a few security features that can be a bit of a headache, but they are serious about security. I did a mortgage refi last year and the rates were great, closing was fast and cost were pretty reasonable.

I only gave this bank 1 star because Google requires a rating of some sort in order to post a review. Hmmm...where should I begin with my review. How about just getting to the point. DO NOT BANK AT FIRST AMERICAN BANK! After they purchased the bank I banked at, it has been a nightmare. They inherited 6 of our accounts, (2) business accounts. If you want to access your account online, don't bank here. Their online banking system is archaic, can't log in when I need to and it often wouldn't take my pass code. When I try to change my pass code, it locks me out. Can't call anyone after hours, Sundays or holidays. And they charge fees like an "account analysis fee". When I questioned the fee they said it was for paper invoices. Why not just say "invoice fee" so I don't have to waste time calling to inquire. And when I asked a customer service rep to email me their international wire transfer instructions, I knew somehow something would go wrong. The PDF file was corrupt couldn't open it. If you want to avoid adding frustration to your life, don't bank here. We're closing down 6 accounts by the end of the year and banking elsewhere.

This is a joke!!!! Cashing a check drawN on their bank and they charge a $7.50 fee!!! Complete joke!!! And banks wonder why Americans don’t trust them!

Had an issue with the website, Katie in customer service promptly solved my issue and was absolutely great.

The staff at this Bank are outstanding. All of the staff at the First American Bank in Paddock Lake(Salem) provide absolutely outstanding customer service. Every time that I have had any type of issue whatsoever whether it be major or silly I have went and in every instance Janelle and her staff have taken excellent care of the situation. I only wish that I had all of their names so that I can individually recognize them. I would recommend this bank to anyone.

the best bank ever like the last guy said they are eager to help with any type of situation very cool staff they are not robots like other banks are this was a great bank when it was southport and even better now that its first american have been banking with them for 20 plus years and don't plan to change a thing

- Online banking service is not always available, occasionally I'll get a status error when attempting to log in - ATM at the Salem location is currently unable to dispense any cash (balance inquiries or transfers only) - Customer reps don't respond to the contact form on the website, you have to call - ATM fees are not automatically refunded, you have to show up in person or snail mail receipts (date restrictions apply) - Salem location is not open on Saturdays (new hours started in 2016) - Failure to expedite replacement debit cards after stating that the order will be expedited (I also offered to pay any increased shipping costs)
