Best title company in the valley. Michelle Guiffrida is the best.

Fidelity National title company lost a $2,500 certified check that was supposed to be given to me at closing. I have been battling them over this for 3+ weeks now. I requested that the sellers pay half of the foundation drainage field and they agreed. The sellers gave the title company $2,500 to give to me payable to my contractor. Well at the last minute the sellers agent decided to use Fidelity Title’s Kalispell office instead of the agreed upon Whitefish office. So we closed at a different (albeit only 15 miles apart) office. No big deal right? Well they (Fidelity) asked if they can send me the $2,500 certified check in the mail and I was like that’s fine. Inexplicably they sent the check regular mail with no tracking, not certified, nothing. Just regular snail mail. Well the check was lost and they are not accepting any responsibility. I was furious at the lack of professionalism and deflection of responsibility to say the least. Plus the sellers advised me that their credit union said that they have to wait 90 days from the date the check was issued to be able to re-issue the funds. So now I have to essentially wait till Dec 1st (ish) until I can receive the $2,500. I also have to pay the contractor out of pocket for that amount since he will be done well in advance of that timeframe. The title company has refused to answer my calls. My agents calls and continues to refuse any responsibility. I am out $2500 because of their mistake that they blatantly refuse to accept any responsibility for.

I loved this place because they were the ones that took care of the sale of my house in Helena and I closed it there!

Would never work with this company again. Worked with Karla Kemm, uncooperative and down right insulting. Had to do my own research to keep a erroneous lean (someone else’s issue) off of our title. Was told by Karla that I had two options, sign a hold harmless clause or pay cancellation fee, all to get a clean and accurate policy. When questioned Karla told me I was looking for a free ride. Kinda ironic as she had already been paid, and had similar communication issues with our attorney. Never again!
