I recently recently moved to the greater Seattle area from out of state. I purchased my home at the peak of the housing market in 2nd quarter 2022. It was a very difficult time to buy a home due to the high prices and daily increases in mortgage interest rates. I spoke with multiple lenders and ultimately, Brett Burns and his team EARNED my business. They were always tireless, tenacious, professional, attentive, courteous, and most importantly, they made good on their claims and got results. I truly believe The Burns Team made my home purchasing experience as smooth as it could possibly be. It's been a few months since I closed on my home and I wanted to take some time to publicly thank them with this review. Thank you.

Brett Burns and his team were outstanding to work with. We had a complicated refinance of an investment property, and he found very competitive rates, and navigated the paperwork flawlessly. During this time we had some big changes in our family, and we decided to cancel on the refinance last-minute several times, as well as making changes in the terms and amounts of the mortgage. Brett was very professional about these delays, despite the pretty difficult situations that we put him in. All throughout the process, Brett and his team communicated clearly and quickly. We would highly recommend Brett and Director's Mortgage to anyone seeking a first-rate mortgage team.

Brett & team had amazing reviews but our experience was not that. There were several oversights that caused financial loss for us. Some were not explained clearly to me in the beginning but were told as a possibility. The final straw was an oversight at the last minute of a, "conflict of interest" with the bank that we choose to fund our loan, causing us to have to find a new lender and restart the loan process at higher interest rates as we sit on a very large loan with very high daily interest rates. A loan that was only supposed to be there for a couple days turned into 30+. I can't recommend Directors Mortgage to others, although the team appeared to fight hard to get the loan my wife & I were expecting. However, the results were a zero and we felt over promised with a drastic under deliver.

This was the 4th or 5th refi Brett Burns and Directors Mortgage have facilitated for us. All of them have been very satisfactory because our goals were met and our costs contained. We refinanced our home in Enumclaw, WA several times and this is the second refi for our home in La Quinta, CA. Since I retired 12 years ago we have been living on a fixed income and have had to be careful with money. During my decades of working and supporting a family my wife stayed home to raise the kids, a commitment we both shared, but this meant a limited amount of money was available for family expenses. So we had to prioritize and agreed that a quality home in a good school district was #1, and right after that, saving for college. And we saved for retirement through my company's 401K, our 3rd priority. To "get ahead" we chose to be mobile in order to get the experience needed for good opportunities in other cities, so we never built enough equity or had the longevity in any location to be able to pay off our mortgage. These decisions and conditions led to us finding that Interest-Only (I/O) Adjustable Rate Mortgages kept our payments down to a level we could afford. Which brings the story to the present day - the Federal powers that be set a new minimum dollar level, $648,000, for jumbo loans. I/O loans could only be had at this level, but to qualify a borrower had to either have substantial income or significant assets. As it turns out, my wife inherited her mother's valuable property and was able to sell it about the time interest rates began to rise. Right after the close of escrow we gifted our kids and grandkids generously for education and financial independence but almost messed up the refi calculations because we diminished the cash balance that the underwriters check before OK-ing a new loan. Fortunately, a Directors Mortgage star, Karen Calenberg, took the challenge of convincing the loaning bank underwriter that we were solid and could be trusted with a big mortgage. Our refi would not have happened without her personal commitment to success for her grateful client. She did it!
